The first round is a best-of-three series format. Game one will begin at 7:07 PM on Friday, Feb. 24, while game two on Saturday, Feb. 25, is scheduled for a 4:07 PM start. If a third game is needed the puck will drop at 4:07 PM once again on Sunday, Feb. 26. General admission tickets for the games at Ridder will be just $1. THE RECORD: SCSU currently holds a record and are 4-24 in the WCHA. They finish the regular season in seventh place in the WCHA standings with 12 points. SCSU AND MINNESOTA THIS SEASON: The Huskies have struggled against the Gophers this season, losing all four previous matchups by a combined score of 29 to 1. Minnesota outshot SCSU in those games. Senior goaltender Tayler VanDenakker started both games for St. Cloud State when they played at Ridder, Oct. 7-8, in what was the opening weekend to the WCHA season. In the two games played at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud on Feb. 2-3, it was freshman Julie Friend getting both starts. The only player to score on the Gophers and their senior goaltender Noora Raty this season is junior forward Alex Nelson, whose goal gave the Huskies an early 1-0 lead in the game in Feb. 3. BACK TO WHERE THE SEASON BEGAN: St. Cloud State spent their first two weekends of the season at Ridder Arena. They opened the season playing in the East/West Showcase, which was hosted by Minnesota. They lost to Syracuse in the season opener 2-1 and then won their first game of the season the following day, 4-1 over Union. POSTSEASON HISTORY: Last season the Huskies were swept in the first round by top-seed, and eventual National Champions, Wisconsin. The last WCHA Playoff victory came on Feb. 26, 2010 against Bemidji State. However, BSU would win the next two to oust the Huskies. In the season SCSU also had a 1-0 series lead over Minnesota State in the first round, only to lose the second and third games once again. The last time the Huskies won their first round series and went to the WCHA Final Face-Off was in the season. That year they defeated Ohio State in three games in the first round and then fell to Minnesota-Duluth in the Semi-finals. SCSU is 7-14 all-time in WCHA postseason games. LIVE STATS: Live Stats the first round series against Minnesota can be found by visiting HUSKIES DROP TWO TO BEMIDJI STATE: In the regular season series finale the Huskies hosted Bemidji State at the NHC Feb On Friday they were beat 3-2 in a hard fought game by both teams. Junior Jocelyn Zabrick and sophomore Molli Mott both scored for the Huskies and Julie Friend had 35 saves, but it was not enough to get the win. Mott s goal was her teamleading ninth of the season. In Saturday s contest the Beavers took advantage of their powerplay opportunities, going 5-6 with the player advantage, and defeated SCSU by a final score of 6-1. Freshman Amanda Arbogast scored her second career goal in the loss on Saturday. Junior Callie Dahl had the assist on the Arbogast goal. Dahl also had an assist on the Zabrick goal on Friday along with fellow junior Ellie Sitek. For Sitek it was her first point of the season. Assisting on the Mott goal from Friday s game were junior Kylie Lane and sophomore Sydney Burghardt. SENIORS AND SCHOLARS: Prior to Saturday s game against BSU, the Huskies paid tribute to their three seniors, Brittany Toor, Jaclyn Daggit and Tayler VanDenakker. This group has combined to play in 291 games for SCSU. Toor is now in the top-10 for games played as a Husky and has 35 career points on 16 goals and 19 assists. Daggit has 16 career points on three goals and 13 assists. VanDenakker logged over 2,200 minutes in net for SCSU. Seven Huskies were also honored during the first intermission on Saturday for being named WCHA Scholar-Athletes. Those seven included three-time recipients Toor, and Anna Donlan, two-time recipient Callie Dahl, and firsttime recipients Lisa Martinson, Julia Gilbert, Sydney Burghardt and Amy Olson.

2 SCSU COACHING STAFF: HEAD COACH JEFF GIESEN: Jeff Giesen completed his fifth season at the helm of Husky Hockey in The all-time winningest coach in school history, Giesen is the third head coach since the inception of the women s program in Giesen tallied his first career victory against Robert Morris on Sept. 29, 2006, with a 4-0 shutout in the NHC. Giesen s career coaching record stands at with a mark in the ever grueling WCHA. A 1993 and 2010 graduate of St. Cloud State University, Coach Giesen and his Giesen wife Karla reside in St. Cloud, Minn., with their two daughters Delaney and Maleah. ASSISTANT COACH JIM FETTER: Originally from Waterloo, Ont., Jim Fetter comes to St. Cloud State with 25 years of coaching experience. He most recently completed his eighth season as the Wayne State University head women s hockey coach in before the University opted to eliminate its women s hockey program in the spring of A threetime recipient of the College Hockey America Women s Coach of the Year Award, he was also a finalist for the American Hockey Coaches Association Women s Division I Coach of the Fetter Year Award in 2006 before earning the award in In eight seasons with the Wayne State Warriors, Fetter amassed a record of (.489) and 47 College Hockey Association victories. ASSISTANT COACH BRITA SCHROEDER: Brita Schroeder has now officially been hired at St. Cloud State University after completing her first season as interim assistant coach for women s hockey at St. Cloud State in A familiar face to St. Cloud State women s hockey, Schroeder was a four-year standout on the blue-line for the Huskies from Serving as the team captain for her senior stint in , Schroeder charted 29 points (6g, 23a) in the Cardinal and Black and is tied for fifth all-time with 145 career games played. Schroeder served as a student assistant coach for Schroeder St. Cloud State University Women s Hockey Page 2 St. Cloud State women s hockey during the season one of the most successful seasons in school history, finishing third in the WCHA regular season standings for the first time in school and league history. Schroeder s most recent coaching experience was at Shattuck St. Mary s Prep School during the fall of 2010 in Faribault, Minn., where she served as the assistant girls hockey coach for the defending national champion U-16 team.
