The fair is always a great learning experience, whether it s your first year or fifth year of participation. Thank you to all the superintendents, parents, 4-Her s, and other volunteers who helped set up pens and stalls, decorate the fair booths, and club bales and took the time to help tear everything back down after the fair. Thanks to the Central Iowa Fair Board for all their hard and long work in preparing for the 2014 Central Iowa Fair. We will continue to hold practice at our fair grounds every Sunday from 1pm to 3pm until this event. 6 County Council Spotlight: County Council will have their organizational meeting on September 7th at 5p.m. at the Extension Office. Hope to see you there! Special Interest Garden Club Youth from the Special Interest Garden Club attended an educational tour of Swift Greenhouses Inc. They were able to see hands on the processes of getting seeds ready to plant. The club is always looking for new members. If you are interested in working in the garden and going on fun tours, please, call or Caleb at or 4-H Record Book Workshop August 19 th 5:30-6:30pm A 4-H record book workshop will be held at the Extension office on August 19 at 5:30pm. This workshop is for 4-Hers, their parents and club leaders to help youth organize their 4-H records, photos and forms. Questions are welcome! Bring the information you plan to put in your record book. The basic, experienced, advanced project forms, yearly summary forms, livestock worksheets, and 4-H record book covers ($3) will be available. Please call office to register. Record books need to be turned in to Extension office by Sept. 13th Rodeo Time! The IRCA will hold its rodeo finals here in Marshalltown on Sept. 4-6, There will be a dance following the rodeo on Saturday, Sept. 6 th. More details will be coming soon.
