6 Unit 21 4-H News A checklist to determine if your club is vibrant and well-organized was included in the December newsletter. If you haven t completed the checklist, take some time to do so. Club officers and leaders, if you want to know what your members think, have them complete and turn in the checklist during a club meeting. No names please, so members will feel comfortable answering the questions honestly. Be prepared, you may not like all the answers. But in order to make 4-H thrive, we must hear from the youth. Making meetings fun Variety is the spice of life. The typical here for roll call is monotonous and boring. Add some spice to roll call by varying the response. The benefits of creative roll call are: interjects variety into the meeting, it s simply more interesting, gives those shy members a chance to speak which can help build their confidence, and it helps set the tone for a fun meeting. Creative roll call ideas Favorite 4-H project Favorite place to visit Favorite holiday Favorite game you like to play Who s your hero and why Favorite summer time activity Say one line from a nursey rhyme What you like best about being in 4-H Favorite 4-H experience A goal you have set for yourself in 4-H this year Favorite food Favorite snack Favorite dessert Name a state, besides Illinois, you have visited If you could have any super power what would it be and why Name your favorite song Favorite color Name a flower Name a tree Name a state Favorite holiday tradition What are you most proud of What are you thankful for and why What time do you like to get up in the morning Sing a line from your favorite Christmas song If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why? What community service project should our club do What s the funniest thing you ve ever seen A recreation activity our 4-H club could do Name an adjective that describes you that starts with the first letter of your last name, example: Homann Happy Where you were born If I gave you $100, what would you do with it What makes your grumpy Month you were born What bad habit do you have Favorite hobby Favorite TV show What month were you born Fun things our 4-H club could do Favorite subject in school Favorite sports team Favorite singer Year you were born Favorite cartoon character 6 U of I Extension Clay, Effingham, Faye e, and Jasper County
