17 2018 Lyon County 4-H/FFA Horse Workshop & Open Arena Schedule Lyon County Horse Project members wanting to exhibit at the fair, MUST attend at least one (1) workshop session so that the horse committee members know that the 4-H/FFA member and horse are safe and competent to show. No exceptions.* *We understand that summer is an extremely busy time for 4-H & FFA families. If you have an extenuating circumstance that is not going to allow you to attend one (1) workshop, please contact Jill at the Extension Office. July 5-6:30pm - Showmanship & Halter Workshop - Western Pleasure & Horsemanship Workshop July 11-7:15pm - Trail & Games Workshop Place: Lyon County Fairgrounds Horse Arena Participants may only bring horses that have been identified in 4HOnline (4-H) or on the ID sheet (FFA). See 2018 Fair Book for complete rules. Participants MUST wear boots or hard soled shoes - no tennis shoes allowed. Participants must wear an approved helmet during riding events. In case of inclement weather, a decision to hold the workshop will be made by 4:30 p.m. The decision will be communicated to exhibitors through an message and posted to the Lyon County Iowa 4-H Face- Book & Twitter pages from the Extension Office. Horse project members may also use the fairgrounds arena at any time with the exception of Thursday & Friday evenings due to the arena being used for another event & the races. Riding at the fairgrounds on your own time is at your own risk and you cannot hold the Extension Office or Fair Board responsible for any accidents. While using the fairgrounds arena please be respectful and clean up after your horses on all parts of the grounds. All manure MUST be put in the manure pits if we want the fairboard to allow us to utilize their grounds. If you have any question please contact Jill at the Extension
