2 Upcoming Events 4-H Market Lamb Club We are currently making arrangements for our Market Lamb Club. If you are interested in raising and showing a lamb this year please contact Tammara or Joe at to get your name on the list. It is important that you get your name in early because we will top our enrollment at 20 4-Hers. We have many additional show opportunities this year. Call and let us tell you all about the Market Lamb Club The 2017 Youth Market Turkey Show will be held during the NC State Fair in Raleigh. The competition is open to any NC youth between the ages of 5 and 18 who will be in grades K-12 on the day of the show. Program details: Participant are given 3 birds and starter feed This program is limited to 300 youth state-wide. 3 Club Corner Archery It s time for warm weather and fun shooting. Archery will meet at the Extension Office on Wednesday March 8 th at 3:30. Budding Chefs For youth ages 5-8 In February, Budding Chefs made some fantastic omelets. We will meet on Wednesday March 22 nd at 3:30. Please come join us for a fun time. Chefs R Us Are you the next "Top Chef"? Our February Top Chefs made Cheeseburger Soup YUM! Our next meeting will be on Tuesday March 21 st at 3:30. 4-H Chess Club For youth ages 5-18 Now is the time to come join and flex your brain. The next Chess meeting will be Monday March 27 th from 3:30-5:00 pm. This club is for youth ages 5-18 who want to play or learn how to play Chess. We have all levels of players in our group. For more information, contact Tammara Talley at Macon Hoofprints 4-H Club For youth ages 5-18 Congrats to our Horse Bowl team for placing 2 nd at the District Horse Bowl Competition! Our Horse Bowl team will be competing at the State Horse Bowl Competition on Saturday March 4 th. Wish them luck, they have worked hard. Also, it is time to head outside. Our March meeting will be at the fair ground s arena on Saturday March 11 th at 2:00pm. Mounted kids you are welcome to bring your horses to ride. Unmounted kids we will have a fun horse activity. We have also challenged the Macon County Horse Association adults to a Horse Bowl competition. We will attend their meeting on Tuesday March 21 st. Please plan to join us for a fun night. Crafty Crafters Fro ages 5-18 In February we made some amazing wind chine birdfeeders from silver kitchen items. They not only sounded great but also made our bird friends happy. This month we will make corn shuck dolls. Please call and let us know you would like to make corn shuck dolls by March 7 th. 3

4 Macon County Sharp Shooters We are adding an additional shooting day this month. We will meet at the Nantahala Ranger District range (Dirty John s) on Saturday March 11 th at 10:00am to shoot.22 Rifles and Muzzle Load. Please let Tammara or Cliff know if you plan to attend this activity. The next air rifle/air pistol meeting will be 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 28 th at the Cooperative Extension Archery Range. We will be meeting here for the next few months while the community building is being renovated. This club is for youth ages Pellet rifles are available or if you have your own pellet rifle, then you are welcome to bring it. EPICS Youth Council For Ages In February, EPICS handmade wonderful rice heated bags for the Senior Center as their February service project. This month we will meet on Monday March 13 th at 6:30. We will also attend Teen Retreat on March Nantahala Community Helpers For Ages 5-18 In February, Nantahala Community Helpers made towers from only newspaper and tape. Our winning tower was named the Dr. Seuss Tower and stood 140cm high. This month we will meet on Monday March 6 th at 3:00pm. 4-H Market Steer Club For Ages We have our calves and have started working them on a regular basis. This past month we learned about nutrition and how to monitor our steer s feed intake. Our next meeting will be on Thursday March 30th at 5:30p, North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University commit themselves to positive action to secure equal opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, sex, age, disability, or veteran s status.
