1 Camden County 4-H Clover News University of Missouri Extension May 2016 Edition 4-H members, parents and volunteers, May is here and summer activities are on the way. We have an excellent set of 4-H events being planned by numerous volunteer committees over the next couple months. I encourage each member to select several and get registered and take advantage of these outstanding events. I will highlight a few briefly. More info on each will be in this newsletter. 3 JUNE 6-10, 2016 Laclede County Saddle Club (18408 Equestrian Rd. Lebanon, Mo.) Youth must be enrolled in 4-H but do not have to be enrolled in a horse project. Youth do not have to bring a horse to participate in camp. Levels are determined by the Mid-Mo Clover Circuit guidelines. $15.00 per camper at Level 1 & 2 $30.00 per camper at Level 3 Open to 4-H members in Laclede, Dallas and Camden Counties LEVEL 3 (Senior Camp) June 6 & 7 from 8:30 a.m. til Noon Workshops: Goat tying, High School Rodeo, Arena time and skillbuilding with professional presenters Level 1 & 2 (Junior Camp) June 8 & 9 from 8:30 a.m. til Noon Workshops: Safety, Grooming & hoof care, Parts and Conformation, Tack, Showmanship & Judging Level 1, 2 & 3 June 10 from 8:30 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. (Lunch will be provided on June 10th only) Events (based on skill level): Horseshow including Western Pleasure, Showmanship, Barrels, and Trails Camp is limited to the first 30 registrations in Level 1 & 2 Camp is limited to the first 20 registrations in Level 3 Registration closes on May 15 or when Levels are full. 4 Dallas County Beef Cow Camp Feeding, Fitting, Grooming, and Showing the Beef Project When: Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 9:00 AM 4:00 PM. Registration begins at 8:30 AM. Where: Dallas County Fairgrounds, 315 W Ramsey St, Buffalo, MO Who: All youth 8 years and older. Parents are invited to attend with their children. Cost: $5.00- Pre-register by Friday, May 27 th to the Dallas County Extension Office, PO BOX 1070, Buffalo, MO space is limited! $ Late registration until morning of event IF space is available. Shirts will not be guaranteed for late entries. Lunch will be provided. Please bring an animal if you have one. If not, we can pair you with someone who does. IF you are exhibiting notebooks, posters, or baked goods this year you need to watch the video at the link below. Although it concerns the state fair guidelines, the Laclede County Fair and the Ozark Empire Fair will follow the same guidelines. You might as well prepare your entry so that it can be exhibited at all three fairs if you qualify. If you like doing demonstrations, you should seriously consider preparing one for honeybees or sheep and presenting it at your club meeting, then at achievement day on June 11 and then taking it to the state fair. I can help you with this and give you guidelines and dates for state fair demonstrations.
