The January edition of the 4-H Express newsletter is full of information but the most important is January 15th is the deadline for 4-H enrollment. Please do not delay in getting re-enrolled. If you are not re-enrolled in the 4-H Online system then you may be missing out on fun opportunities in 4-H, project add/drop deadline, and Animal ID deadline! Instructions for re-enrollment can be found at extension.purdue.edu/montgomery/pages/default.aspx under the 4-H enrollment tab. 2 Need help getting re-enrolled or enrolled in the 4-H program but can t make it to the Extension Office during normal business hours? The Montgomery County Extension Office will stay open LATE on the following day to help our 4-H Families: Thursday, January 12 Until 7:00 pm During these extended hours, families will be able to sign up/pay for 4-H, purchase poster boards/poster board sleeves, and ask questions to the 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator. If you are applying for 4-H Scholarships and need help submitting them please feel free to come into the office during this time. Note: This will be for 4-H related business ONLY!! The office will not be open fully. If you need other Extension-related business that must be taken care of during regular business hours.

5 4-H New Member Orientation What: The 4-H New Member Orientation is for 4-H members to come and learn about 4-H Trips and Opportunities, Projects, Green Record Books, and get all of your questions answered! When: February 16th from 6:00-7:00 pm Where: Exhibit Hall at the Montgomery County 4-H Fairgrounds Who: Montgomery County 4-H members in their 1st or 2nd year of regular 4-H (grades 3-12). Parents/Guardians are welcomed and encouraged to attend! Scholarships Available: Senior Year Scholarship Available to 4-H members in their senior year of high school. Club Scholarship Available to 4-H members entering Purdue University majoring in the College of Agriculture or select majors in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Accomplishment Scholarship Available to 4-H members in grades of high school and the year immediately following high school graduation. Purdue Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Scholarship Available to a 4-H member majoring in horticulture or landscape architecture at Purdue University and has studied plant science in 4-H. Are you a 4-H Volunteer? Check out these opportunities and information! 4-H Livestock and Science Volunteer Training Interested in learning about how to incorporate the missions of 4-H into our livestock programs? Enjoy teaching STEM-based activities to youth? We have an opportunity for you! There will be FOUR state-wide Livestock and Science Adult Volunteer Trainings in January and February. These sessions will teach volunteers about the characteristics of youth development, the meaning of experiential learning, discuss information about SPARK Clubs, and teach how to incorporate the missions of 4-H into our 4-H program. 9 4-H Grows True Leaders: Officer Training Make a difference in your county.develop and grow your leadership skills when you attend the Area 9 Officer Training at the Tippecanoe County Extension Office on January 25th from 6:30-8:00 pm. Purdue University s Collegiate 4-H Club will be leading several fun, leadership activities for the group before dividing into specific officer training sessions.
