1 CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to the Woodford County 4-H Lego Robotics teams for all of their success on Saturday, April 21st at the District 4 4-H Lego Robotics Competition! Held at Woodford County Middle School, participants including Addie Patterson, Grace Pitchford, Nora Hanley, Jasmine Williams, Andrew Scott, Jacob Woods, Zach Pantaliono, Avery Franklin, Cooper Westfall, Sean Williams and Alex Muller competed in two challenges against teams from several other District 4 counties including Madison, Estill and Clark. The Woodford County team including Jacob Woods and Zach Pantaliono took the top overall award and the team with Nora Hanley, Grace Pitchford and Addie Patterson placed second overall, both in the beginner level. Congrats to them and a special thank you to TransCanada, the Woodford County 4-H Council, Woodford County Middle School and all of our parents and volunteers for their support!

3 4-H Upcoming Events and Notes 4-H Youth Expo The project year wrap-up is quickly approaching and the Woodford County 4-H Youth Expo is almost here! Held Monday, July 23rd through Friday, July 27th, during this week all 4-H projects will be judged with class champions moving on to the Kentucky State Fair in August. A few big changes for this year s 4-H Youth Expo: There will be no fee for submitting projects to be judged in the 4-H Youth Expo Summertime Fun Project Day projects can be left at the Extension Office and will be automatically entered if interested. State Fair Project Descriptions Available For those interested in submitting project work into the 4-H Youth Expo, there is more out there than just what is offered as a Summertime Fun Project Day! ryan.farley@uky.edu or stop by the Woodford County Extension Office for all of the projects available! 4 4-H Upcoming Events and Notes 4-H Camp Applications Available 4-H Camp applications are now available and spots are filling up quick! This year s theme is Space and we ll be blasting off to the best week of the summer July 16 - July 20th. If you are interested in attending 4-H Camp this summer, make sure to get your application in sooner rather than later as over half the spots are already filled! For an application you can either ryan.farley@uky.edu or stop by the Woodford County Extension Office! May Ham Shucking Dates Nothing says the end of the school year and the start of summer like shucking hams! If you are a Country Ham participant make sure to call or and sign-up for a time slot to shuck your hams! We will be cleaning on May 23rd and May 24th from 4pm - 7pm and it will take approximately an hour per person, so call now to sign up! You will get dirty so dress appropriately!

5 Woodford County 4-H Clubs 4-H Livestock Club Tuesday, May 1st 6:30pm Red Barn, Woodford County Fairgrounds Come out and learn about showing animals. Several club members will be present with their project animals as they share what it s like to spend all summer showing! Educational Meeting No educational meeting in May. See you in October! COUNTRY HAM PARTICIPANTS We will be shucking our hams on Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th. Please call to sign-up for a time slot. Shucking should take approximately 1 hr. per person, depending on your experience. Dress to get dirty! 4-H Environmental Club Look out for more information on our end of year trip coming up in the next few weeks! We ll be mailing a postcard and posting on Facebook! 4-H Horse and Pony Club No meetings until the fall! See you next year! 4-H STEAM Sewing Club Monday, May 14th 5:00pm - 6:30pm E-textiles, also known as soft circuits are lighting up clothing! And there is now a state fair class called Smart Clothing. You will use hand sewing to create your own LED wrist band using conductive thread and a battery. Please RSVP by Thursday May 11th. 4-H Shooting Sports Practice Schedule Monday, May 7th - Rifle/Trap Monday May 14th - Archery Monday, May 21st - Rifle/Trap Monday, May 28th - Archery Practices are every Monday at 6:00pm. 6 Woodford County 4-H Clubs 4-H Cloverbuds Thursday, May 24th 4:00pm Join us for our May Cloverbuds meeting! This club is for ANY 5-8 year old. Parent/guardian must stay with youth during the meeting. Please RSVP by Monday, May 21st to The cost for this month is $ H Afterschool Culinary Club Tuesday, May 22 4:00 p.m. Join us for our last Culinary. This month participants are allowed to invite one guest for dinner to show off the culinary skills they have learned. Dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 15th to 4-H Family Friendly Recipe Start the spring off right with some tasty lettuce tacos!

United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. You may also choose to have part or all of your annual contribution go directly to Woodford County 4-H by selecting Woodford County 4-H Council as the specific agency you would like to support.
