Preface Dear orienteering friends, On behalf of Omega orienteering club, I wish all the participants welcome to this competition: the 3 days of Limburg. Our club organizes every 3 years the 3 days of Limburg. This year we offer something special. This time we cross the border and one stage of the competition will take place abroad. The first day of the competition will take place in Einderheide in the Netherlands. Many thanks to KOVZ for the use of their map. I hope you will enjoy the terrains and the courses. For those who need a more technical challenge, we have foreseen each day an oro-hydro race. Opportunities enough to measure your technical and physical capacities against a more varied than usual field of competitors. However, it is more important that you will experience a pleasant long weekend together with your family, friends and other orienteers Enjoy and have fun! Rudi Aerts, Chairman Omega Dear participant, As a sportive city, Lommel has a nice alliance with orienteering sport. Our woods, the heathland and sandareas offer great opportunities for exciting and challenging orienteering courses With all those courses and specially with the Belgian Championship Long Distance in September, this alliance becomes even more tight. The city is delighted that people are coming from far to run here and enjoy our nature and immense woods. We wish the organization and all participants 3 fantastic days. Peter Vanvelthoven Mayor Kris Verduyckt 1st Alderman (and member of Omega!) 1

Competition information General The IOF Rules for international events will be applied. The race is declared closed 2.30 hrs after the last start each day. Time registration will use the EMIT system. The maps will be protected with a plastic bag. Please respect the drinking water at the refreshments! It is highly advisable to wear full leg cover as well as long sleeves during the races because of the amount of ticks that have been seen in the race terrains. It is also strongly recommended to check your body for ticks (often extremely small creatures) after each race Please do not run through fields! Domestic animals are not allowed in the forest. Starting times Starting times can be found on: Start the EC Provil in the competitionarea on the website The starting list will be available on the Internet and on the event place. 3 minutes before the real starting time, each competitor enters the starting zone with clearly visible starting number and the EMIT-badge with backup label 2 minutes before, the control description is to be taken 1 minute before, enter the correct starting box 5 seconds before starting time place the EMIT badge in the receptacle and take the map and check that it is the correct one for your category. On the exact starting time remove the EMIT badge from the receptacle and start your race. No change of starting times will be allowed. Late starters can start immediately, without change of departure time.. Chasing start on stage 3 The start on stage 3 is based on the chasing start principle. 15
The current leader in general ranking starts first. The other runners will follow him/ her, with a backlog equal to the backlog in the general ranking, with a maximum of 45 minutes. The runner, participating in the chasing start, who finishes first in this stage is also the winner of the general ranking Runners with a backlog of more than 45 minutes do not participate in the chasing start but will be allocated a fixed starting time. Al runners will get a new EMIT-backup label at the secretariat, on day 3 in the morning. All runners shall also write, with a permanent marker, their starting time on their chest number. The 5 first runners of the general ranking after day 2 will have to get a special chest number at the secretariat. The ranking and the category are indicated on that special number. This will help spectators to see who is chasing who. Starting procedure for the chasing start: At arrival at CC, each runner has to get a new backup label with starting time at the secretariat. The 5 first runners of the general ranking after day 2 will also have to get a special chest number at the secretariat. Present yourself 10 minutes before starting time at the start with your chest number(s) and EMIT badge with backup label. Runners starting within the same minute will be arrange in sorting order en shall stay in that order until start. Runners will be guided to the start. EMIT has to be cleared Runner starts on exact starting time. Runner takes his map out of the correct box and starts his race. Finish The organisation counts on fair play from all participants: you can keep your map after you have crossed the finish line. Participants who show their map to participants that have yet to start will be disqualified. 16
Maps All maps were revised in the spring or summer There will be no training maps available. The maps have scale 1/ and have 2,5 m contour interval. Local symbols on the maps X black = tree stump O black = special object X green = remarkable coniferious tree O green = remarkable broadleaf tree. green = remarkable bus (holly) Control descriptions The maps, in plastic cover, will have no control descriptions on them (except H/D - 10). The control descriptions of each day are found at the starting area. Special courses Day entry Outside the main competition, 3 additional circuits will be available: SE (short easy, +/- 4km), SD (short difficult, +/- 4km) and LD (long difficult, +/- 7 km). These courses use the same post network as the main competition. Participation is on a day entry basis (10 euro for adults, 7 euro for -18y.) D/H-10 = Full marked race The course is entirely marked with funnel tape but that isn't necessarily the shortest way. The whole circuit is printed on the map. The course marking allows for alternative routes between the control posts. The post descriptions are in written form in four languages (N, F, E and D). In addition the control numbers will also be printed on the map. String course Each day, a playful childrens-o race will be held. This course will be completely marked by means of a string to allow the young participants to simply follow it. Entry on the day at a cost of 1 Euro. Each child who completes the race will receive a prize. 17
Results The result lists will be posted at the finish area and on the Internet The overall result classification will be made on the basis of the 3 day results Given the chasing start on day 3, the finishing order on day 3 will determinate the final results. The official final results will be posted on the Internet. Prize-giving Prizes will only be given for the overall classification. On Sunday 18.08, at hours, at the finish area of the third course, there will be the final prize giving ceremony, with a prize for the top 3 runners in each category. Jury and complaints Members of the jury: Luc Heuninckx, president, René Steenssens, Jeroen Hoekx. Any complaint shall be submitted by writing to the secretariat at the latest, one hour before the start of the following stage. Complaints related to the last stage shall be submitted to responsibles at the competition area at the latest 15 minutes after the publication of the final result classification, around hours.
