Bradenton, FL * When our meets are local (Etheredge Stadium or FWBHS), parents are responsible for picking up their athlete from the meet location. For the out-of-town meets (Crestview, Niceville), athletes will be bussed back to LJPS for pick-up. You may take your child home with you if you attend the out-of-town meets, but please ensure your athlete has checked out or notified one of the coaches before you depart. Your child is not allowed to be transported from the meets with anyone other than immediate family, unless we have written authorization. (This is applicable to both meets, as well as practices) = Meets where Pole Vault, Hurdles, Triple jump, High Jump, 1500 and 3000 will be contested.

2 County Event Schedule Each athlete is limited to 2 Field events, 2 Relays, 2 Running events. Scoring o Relays -- only A team can score o Individual Events 1st=5pts, 2nd=3pts, 3rd=2pts, 4th=1pt o Relays 1st=5pts, 2nd=3pts Order of Events: Shot put, Long Jump, Discus events are run simultaneously. Athletes may compete in up to two Field events. Once field events are completed the following events begin: 100 meters (after field events have concluded) 1 Mile - 10 runners max per team 4x100 Meter Relay - A team and B team from each School 400 Meters - 2 max per team 200 Meters - 2 max per team Sprint Relay - 100m-100m-200m-400m (A team and B team from each School) 800 Meters - Max 5 per team 4x400 Meter Relay - A team and B team from each School Meet locations and directions Crestview High School 1250 N Ferdon Blvd, Crestview, FL School will be on left. 5 Sports Medicine Websites: If you haven t already, please invest in the only equipment your runner needs for this sport good running shoes! Good shoes are extremely important during training since they can prevent foot, ankle and knee injuries. If you already have good running shoes, you may want to look into track spikes for the meets. To prevent unnecessary injuries, please be sure that your child is dressed for the weather. If the temperature is below 60 degrees, please have them wear layers (short and/or long sleeved t-shirt(s) and shorts underneath sweatpants and sweatshirt) to practice. During training, proper hydration is extremely important. We will provide water for them during practice and at meets. We need you to make sure they are drinking lots of water (no soft drinks) at home and at school. It is vital that they eat well and drink more than usual BEFORE they come to train. MEET PICK-UP TIMES & LOCATIONS vary each week. See Meet Schedule for details. Team members must be picked up from the meet location for all local events. The team will be bussed back to LJPS after their meets in Niceville, Crestview, and Emerald Coast MS. (Athletes are provided a cell phone to call home once the bus is en route back to the school.) It is imperative that you make arrangements to pick your runner up on time. PLEASE NOTE: You may take your child home with you if you attend the out-of-town meets. To ensure each athlete is accounted for, you are responsible for signing your athlete out with a coach. The bus cannot leave if every athlete is not accounted for! Sending your athlete to tell a coach they are leaving is not sufficient. Your child is not allowed to be transported from the meets with anyone other than immediate family, unless we have written authorization. (This is applicable to both meets, as well as practices) All practices are scheduled to be held at FWBHS. You must have a written note on file if your child is allowed to walk home. Practice pick up time is 4:45 through March 31 st. April 1st through the end of the season practice pick up will be at 4:30. Athletes that have not been picked up 10 minutes after practice ends will be bussed back to LJPS and placed in aftercare. There will be a charge of $18.50 and you will have to come in and sign them out from aftercare. Parents are welcomed to stand by the railing and watch their athlete practice, but will not be allowed to cross the track. We would love anyone who has experience in track and field to think about volunteering. ATTENDANCE POLICY: All athletes are expected to be at all practice unless arrangements have been made with Coach Hall ahead of time. After 2 unexcused missed practices an athlete will miss a meet. After the third unexcused missed practice the athlete will be in jeopardy of being dismissed from the team. An unexcused absence is defined as missing a practice without a notification from a parent ahead of time, or the athlete directly telling the coach ahead of time. Telling a friend to relay to the coach is unacceptable.

6 COME SUPPORT YOUR TEAM - Our HOME MEETS are April 1st and 15th, 4:00 6:00. Mark your calendar and please let us know if you will be available to help. We encourage you to come out to each meet and support your athlete! UNIFORMS: will be handed out about 1 week before our first meet. All UNIFORMS must be washed and returned at the Team Party at the end of the season. Uniforms not returned will be charged to the student s account. Students will not be allowed to participate in a Fall Sport until the uniform is paid for or returned. EXPENSES: There is a $50 participation fee required for each student per sport. In addition, instead of having everyone sign-up to bring a snack, we are requesting a $20.00 donation from each family to cover the expense of drinks and snacks for our runners after their meets. This is separate from the school s fund for participation fees. Please turn in all fees to Coach Hall asap! Thank you for being an outstanding athletic supporter! The sweatshirt s are optional for the team to purchase individually. NOTE: Each athlete will receive a uniform to run in at the meets. These uniforms must be returned at the end of the season. The uniforms are very thin. At meets, while the weather is cool, the athletes will need to wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants before and after their events. For everyday practice, everyone will need to layer in t-shirt, shorts and sweat suit. We want to prevent any unnecessary soft tissue injuries! For meets: any dark colored sweatshirt and sweat pants are suitable.
