Fundraiser Information. Pick Up a Track and Field Booklet this contains information about our rules and regulations, track calendars, and lettering standards. Run N Fun Shoe Store Run and Fun will be set up for athletes to buy running shoes, sprinting, jumping, and distance spikes, or throwing shoes.

5 Blaine Girls Team Policies 2018 Track and Field Information Night and Run N Fun Shoe Sales Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BHS. Family members are welcomed to also purchase track & field shoes. Registration fees are $280, individual max $650 and family max $850. The following must be on file in the Athletic/Activities office prior to any track and field participation: A signed MSHSL eligibility form (only one needed for the 15/16 school year). A physical exam not older than 3 years. A health emergency form submitted to Coach. Fees are waived if an athlete receives free lunch or has paid the maximum required of a family. MSHSL Athlete Rules violations can result in suspension Possession and/or use of tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs (including web). Attendance at parties where use of alcohol or drugs is occurring. Poor academic performance. Athletes must acquire credits according to MSHSL standards as printed on the MSHSL eligibility form. Theft or cases of vandalism or other violation of the law. Sexual harassment or violence. Other suspensions from practices or meets are possible. Examples would be poor conduct, missing practices, profanity, lack of effort or falling behind in studies. Practice Rules/Standards

6 MSHSL requires 2 weeks of practice before competing in a meet. The starting time means dressed and on the track or in the gym at that time. Attendance of 90% must be maintained to letter (see lettering standards). If you have an unexcused absence to a practice (anytime you don't let your Event Coach & Coach Stalboerger know where you are) you will attend the following meet in street clothes and support your teammates. As long as you communicate this shouldn't be an issue. College visits, doctor s appointments and vacations should be pre-arranged with Coaches. Captains will lead the warm-ups. All upper classman are expected to assume leadership roles in practice and at meets. No cell phones at team practices/meetings or at track meets. Skipping weight training is skipping practice. Practice is not over until your Coach says it is over. Never underestimate the value of communicating with your coach and the importance of your role and contribution to our school and our team. Meet/school transportation rules School policy is that all team members ride the bus to and from meets. Team members are expected to stay throughout the meet and support the team. At meets our team will find an area where all of our athletes will set up a camp. On rare occasions an athlete may need other transportation. This needs to be pre approved by parents, coaches and athletic director/assistant principal.

9 Lettering Standards Blaine Girls Track and Field The coaches believe that any athlete on the team can earn a letter. It is important to remember that a varsity letter is an award for excellence and achievement in the sport. You may letter in track and field by meeting one of the following criteria listed below: You must complete the entire season and be academically eligible at the conclusion of the season to be eligible for a varsity letter. By being at practice 90% of the season. By being a supportive and positive member of the track team for 4 seasons. All meet members will letter if our Team wins a Conference, True Team, or Region/Section Meet.
