We hope you are ready to rumble over hill and over dale and down the dusty/muddy trail! Whether it be the rolling green pastures of Lexington this December, the Parks of Boston and PGXC, or the macadam streets of NYC, we are pumped to see what our club can do together. Come partake and enjoy this great sport and our unique GVH camaraderie!! Spread the word, GVH is on the prowl and hungry for more
2 podiums!! I also want to say a special thank you to all those that have joined us once again or maybe even for the first time. We appreciate your eager volunteerism to help us prosper. Whether it be financially or with sweat equity, together we are building a venerable tradition. I wanted to take a second and explain why I think membership and volunteerism is so important. We may even be asking ourselves, Why do we need to pay dues? What do I get for my money? There are several key reasons. Simply put, GVH relies heavily on club dues and the volunteer spirit of each club member to exist. People all over the country continually ask us, How do you guys do what you do? We routinely are the largest contingent at every National Championship! We ve taken over 50 runners to Clubs for the last 10 years+. They are dumbfounded given the size of our market. I love this comparison. Atlanta Track Club has 21,000+ members. Dues are similar. Now, add up the number of podiums and championships we have had over our history versus them. It s staggering!! So how does this work? You may not realize this but GVH annually pours out over $50,000 to send our athletes to various local, regional, and national championships. Club XC Nationals alone typically costs over $20K. We are only able to do this because of club dues, money raised at our events (hence the call for volunteerism), sponsorships/donations (Note: Here s a reminder that GVH is a 501c3 entity and your donations are tax deductible!), and team prize money won at these meets. Without each one of you giving of yourselves, the club cannot continue to lead the pack. On top of that we have dedicated coaching available to each and every one of you and this does not come for free. Nor does our support for our Olympic Development Program, which saw our first qualifiers in 2016! Lastly, per USATF, we have to have insurance (not cheap) and without your signed membership, you are not covered. That includes practices. Bottom-line, we take great pride in what we have built from nothing. By each one of us pitching in a little (yes, even the president pays dues), we are reaping a
3 HUGE harvest. So, that is why we ask you to contribute and to take pride in being a part-owner in the business. For over 20 years the model has worked and it represents the best of GVH. Pride and Passion in what we do. Now let s go out there and own it! Giddy up!! Dave Bischoff, GVH President Join GVH online or join with paper form. Also, check volunteer opportunities at events listed below. Donate here or with a check to GVH. What's Up Next for GVH Members?
