6 PRE EVENT Race Office Race Bag Pickup Operating hours for the Race Bag Pickup are on Friday and Saturday from 10:00am till 07:00pm in the Merchandise tent in Bad Schönborn Mingolsheim, and on Sunday June 5 from 10:00am till 12:30pm in Ubstadt-Weiher. Please bring a proof of a valid license and a valid photo ID with you. Also provide the original signed Waiver (available for download on the website). A license for the race day is available at Race Office for Euro 20,00. BIB (race number) / Race Number Stickers: 1 race number for the athlete (BIB): It is allowed to use a race number ribbon. 3 stickers for the bike helmet: Must be placed on the front, the left and right side of bike helmet. 1 sticker for the bike: Attach the Bike-Race-Number on the rear brake cable, gear cable or the seat-post. 3 stickers for all transition bags (blue, red, white). Race Chip Swim Cap Athletes have to wear the swim cap provided by the organizer. In the Race Office the athlete will receive: Athletes Wristband Used to identify the athlete during the whole event weekend. The athlete must wear it on the wrist. 3 Transition Bags Blue for bike gear Red for run gear White pre-race bag and after race clothing Race Bag Pickup for Relays Picking up the start documents can be done by one participant of the relay. This means that not all 3 athletes of a team are required to come to the registration. When picking up the start documents the indemnity for the other participants needs to be signed as well. Underage participants need to bring a declaration of agreement signed by their parents. To participate the following age limits at the day of the race apply: Swimmer: 14 years, Biker: 15 years, Runner: 14 years. The red and the blue transition bags have to be checked in on Sunday in Transition Area 1. The red bag will be transported to Transition Area 2 by IRONMAN 5150 team. The white transition bag can be dropped off on Sunday as well and will be available for athletes at the finish line again. Content of Start documents Relay: 1. Swim cap in the color of the start group 2. 2 bibs: 1 for the biker and 1 for the runner incl. Safety pins 3. Sticker with start number for helmet and bike 4. Identification transponder for time-taking + tape 5. Competition information for participants and companion incl. schedule 6. 1 bag for clothes 6

7 PRE EVENT Bike Check-In Transition Area 1 at Hardtsee Ubstadt-Weiher The Bike Check-In is an obligation. Both the blue and the red transition bag have to be checked in together with the bike and helmet. The Check-In counter in the Transition Area is open on Sunday from 11:30am till 01:30pm. You have to bring your start number and your athletes wristband to Check-In. There will be a separate transition block for relays in the transition areas. The athlete must check in the following items: 1. Bike (bike-race-number attached on the rear brake cable, gear cable or the seat-post) 2. Bike helmet (race number placed on the front, the left and right side of bike helmet) 3. BIB (race number) 4. Helmet and race number have to be placed at the bike or in the blue bag. Bike shoes can be clicked in into the pedals or have to be placed in the blue bag as well. No items are allowed on the floor. Personal marking of the transition bags is not allowed. Penalty: Yellow Card! A bike service point is available at Transition Area 1 during Check-In times. The Transition Area will open on Sunday June 5 th at 11:30am. Once bike and helmet have been checked in it is not allowed to remove them from transition area any more. Transition areas are under video surveillance. PreRace briefing The schedule for the PreRace briefings in different languages is listed on the time table at page 4. The participation at the PreRace briefing is mandatory. Welcome Party The Welcome Party with the choice of different pasta dishes takes place on Saturday June 4th from 04:00pm till 08:00pm in Bad Schönborn Mingolsheim. Tickets for the Welcome Party are available at the entry of the event. Attention! Race chips and their mountings will be supplied by the organizer, Athletes have to wear them on the left ankle. No use of own chips is allowed. Race chips provided by the organizer are in responsibility of the athlete. The organizer advises to put on the chip as soon as you get it. Race chips will be needed for Bike Check-Out. No chip No Bike! In case of loss the athlete has to pay a fee of Euro 50,00 per chip. In case of loss during the race an alternative chip can be handed out in the transition area. Only athletes have access to the transition area. Family members (including children) are, for insurance reasons, not allowed in the transition area during Check-In and on the race day. Weather on Race Day On race day, sunrise will be at 05:20am and sunset at 09:30pm. The average daytime temperature in June is C, of course it can become considerably colder and rainy. Parking Areas There will be enough parking spaces at the swim start area at the Hardtsee. Also in Bad Schönborn we offer some parking spaces. This parking spaces are obligatory! Please be aware that there are no parking areas in the inner city and next to the event area. 7

8 RACE DAY INFORMATION Transition Area, PreRace Routine Transition Area 1 opens on Race Day at 11:30am and closes at 01:45pm. Only athletes and authorized persons will have access to Transition Area. Coaches, managers, family members and/or spectators have no access to the Transition Area. A bike service point in Transition Area 1 provides bike support including airpumps during Bike Check-In times. You may bring your own pump. Swim Start Before the swim start, every athlete has to enter the Transition Area. Transition Area closes at 01:45pm. Warm Up: It is allowed to do the warmup swim until 3 minutes before the start. The following start groups can warm up as soon as the previous start group has started. For detailed information about the start groups and the start times please have a look at page 13. The swim course is a 1-loop course with a distance of meters. Every participant has to cross the time measure mat to enable the registration by the time taking system. After completing the swim course the athletes must leave the lake at the official swim exit and have to cross the time measure mat for the registration of their swim-exit. If the athlete leaves the water on another place we suppose that he/she is still in the water and we will organize a rescue action. This athlete will be responsible for the costs. It is allowed to wear race clothes underneath the swimming suit. In case it is forbidden to swim a wetsuit, no swimsuits with percentage of rubber and/or neoprene will be permitted. Athletes who wear glasses can store them on a table at swim exit. For the identification (BIB number) of the glasses, the athlete is personally responsible. Transition Swim Bike The blue transition bag contains personal bike gear and will be picked up in Transition Area 1 after swim exit. Change the clothes in the transition tent only! The athlete has to pick-up the blue bag on the transition bag rack in front of the transition tent. The change of clothes is only allowed in the transition tent. All equipment needs to be packed by the athlete independently into the blue bag and dropped in the Drop-Off zone behind the tent. Only Bike shoes (clipped on the pedals), helmet, BIB-number and sun glasses are allowed to be stored ON the bike. The ground beneath the bike has to stay empty! Bike The bike portion is a time-trial for each single athlete and consist of a 1- loop course with a distance of 40km. The bike course is totally closed for public traffic. Athletes have to expect oncoming traffic! Sparkasse 5150 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie security staff, under police supervision, will operate pedestrian/car crossings at certain positions along the bike course. The race will not be affected by the crossings. The athlete himself is responsible to stop at the very next penalty box following the infringement. The penalty boxes are located at km25 in the town center of Eichelberg (No. 1) and in transition area 2 after completing the bike course (No. 2). The exact position of the boxes will be described in the PreRace Briefing. Additionally they will be marked distinctly. The Bike Course provides one fully equipped aid station. The exact location of the aid station is described in the course map. A detailed sequence of food and drinks is shown in the illustration, please see page 14 of this Race Information. It is mandatory to drive on the right side on the bike course. Swim Cut Off Time: 50 minutes 8

9 RACE DAY INFORMATION Dangerous spots on the bike course are signposted and/ or announced by volunteers: Graveyard Östringen: 90 right hand bend Schindelberg: 90 -bend in both directions Tiefenbach: 90 left hand bend on Hauptstraße after a steep descent 90 left hand bend after steep descent at the entry to Östringen/graveyard 90 right hand bend in Östringen Richard-Wagner-Straße Cut Off-time after Swim and Bike: 3 hours Run The Run Course is a 2 loop course. Due to fairplay and safety the Run Course is open for athletes only. There are NO penalty boxes on the Run Course. If an athlete receives a penalty on the Run Course, the BIB-Number will be marked right away and he/she has to stop immediately for 30 seconds. The Run Course provides three fully equipped aid stations per lap on one side. A detailed sequence of food and drinks is shown in the illustration, please see page 16 of this Race Information. Cut Off-time after Swim, Bike and Run: 4 hours Transition Bike Run After completing the Bike Course, volunteers will take and rack the athletes bike. Athletes will pick up the red bag containing their run gear from the rack in Transition Area. Change clothes inside the transition tent only. Put your bike gear into the red bag independently and deposit the bag in the Drop Off zone behind the tent. Penalty Box No. 2 is located in the Transition Area and must be sought if necessary. Note: In transition area 2 the organizer will check all bikes for electronical or mechanical manipulation. If the result of the check is positive, the athlete will be disqualified. Hints for Relays Every swimmer of a relay should arrive in time at the waiting area of the start place. The other participants of the relay are not allowed to be present in this waiting area. They can watch the swimming together with the other spectators from the waters' edge. After the swim exit the swimmer betakes himself to the transition block for relays. There the time taking transponder is handed over to the biker of the relay. The bib of the biker has to be clearly readable from the back. Again in transition area 2 there is an own transition block where the runner awaits the biker. There, the time taking transponder is handed over. All participants of a relay may run to the finish together (Finish line Photo). We recommend meeting on Pestalozzistraße before the fence begins to run to the finish line together. 9

10 RACE DAY INFORMATION AFTER RACE INFORMATION Individual Race Provisions (Special Needs) The organizer announces that personal nutrition are in the athlete s own responsibility. This includes transport, storage and handling on the official course of the Sparkasse 5150 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie. The handling of own special needs is only allowed inside the marked area after the aid stations 2 and 3 on the run course. Outside these areas external support is prohibited and will result in a disqualification. Anti-Doping For all professional athletes see the regulations of the IRONMAN Pro Membership. In the case an age group athlete is drawn for doping testing and has taken medicine prior the race, he has to show a medical certificate. A late filing is not possible (we recommend to store the document in the white transition bag). In this case please check Medical Support The medical team of Sparkasse 5150 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie guarantees an optimum of medical support at any time. During the race, doctors and first aid personnel will be placed along the swim course. The medical team will be available on the Bike- and Run Course too. When crossing the finish line our Finish Area Team will await each athlete. A doctor will check the physical condition. Afterwards a member of the Finish Area Team will lead the athlete to the Athlete s Garden. Please obey the orders of the medical staff at all times. Every competitor must have an own individual health insurance which covers medical treatment in case of serious injury or illness as well as the treatment in a hospital. Athlete s Garden Regenerate and relax in the Athlete s Garden of the Sparkasse 5150 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie. The Athlete s Garden is located right behind the finish line. The Athlete s Garden offers relaxing areas with massages and refreshment zones, and medical care through our medical team. The entrance to the Athlete s Garden is limited to athletes and staff members with permission only. Finisher shirts, medals and certificates Finisher Shirts will be handed out in the Athlete s Garden. Please bring your race number! Certificates will be available for download after the event. Your medal will handed out by volunteers at the finish line. Bike Check-Out at Transition Area 2 The Bike Check-Out is located at the backside of transition area 2. Operating hours on race day, from 02:00pm till 07:30pm. The organizer s liability for bikes ends at 07:30pm. Bikes are only returned in exchange for the race-chip. If the chip got lost the athlete has to show a valid identity card/passport. Personal belongings that have been left in the Transition Areas can be picked up separately by showing the race-number and a valid picture-id/passport, if the athlete is not going to pick up the equipment himself. Once the athlete has left the Bike Check-Out, claims of damage or loss of material will not be accepted anymore. Transition Area is under video surveillance. 10

11 AFTER RACE INFORMATION COMPETITION RULES Awards Ceremony The Award Ceremony of the Sparkasse 5150 powered by KraichgauEnergie takes place after the race at 07:00pm in Bad Schönborn Mingolsheim. Trophies and prizes are handed out personally only. Trophies and prizes which have not been picked up will expire. Lost and Found Personal belongings which are unmarked and/or have been left in the Transition Area have to be picked up after the Race at the Awards Ceremony. The organizer assumes no liability. Lost & Found-contact on Sunday will be in the large party tent. Results To determine the final race results there will be a session of a court of arbitration after the race between 06:30pm and 07:00pm. The venue will be the Media Center. The court of arbitration consists of following persons: the Race Director of the race or a personally named and determined deputy person the Head Referee of the race or a personally named and determined deputy person a Person with the qualification of judgeship The court of arbitration determines the race results subject to the final results of the doping test. An objection can be filed on race day until 07:00pm latest at finish line after paying EUR 50,-. The decisions are binding and juristic unappealable. A complete list of results will be shown at the Awards Ceremony and in the week after the race on NEW Rules 2016: You can find the official rules and regulations governing all IRONMAN events here: 1. For IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN events, the age-group draft zone will increase from 10 meters to 12 meters. The draft zone will continue to be defined as a distance (12 meters) from the leading edge of the front wheel, extending towards the rear of the bike (front wheel to front wheel) and all athletes will have 25 seconds to make a pass. This means that professional and age group athletes will now both follow the same drafting rules. 2. For IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN events, sleeves that extend from shoulder to elbow may now be worn during non-wetsuit swims. 3. The accumulation of three blue cards (drafting and intentional littering*) will result in disqualification. Yellow cards will no longer count as a strike (penalty counting towards disqualification), but athletes may still be disqualified should the Head Referee consider the accumulation of yellow cards to be in violation of IRONMAN Competition Rule 3.03(b) Please note that rules may change slightly per event. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules published in the race briefing. Especially for the Sparkasse 5150 powered by KraichgauEnergie 2016: If an athlete is involved in an accident during the event, it is obligatory for the athlete to stay there and wait until the accident is recorded at least by the protocol of an race official or the police. If the athlete continues the race after being involved in the accident he or she could be charged for leaving the scene of an accident. Furthermore it is prohibited to pollute the road surface. Pollution in this case means also coloring or branding the tarmac. Infringement leads to prosecution by the police. 11

12 COMPETITION RULES The following is a summary of the most common Competition Rule violations and penalties and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of violations and penalties ( Summary ). Each athlete is responsible for knowing and understanding all Competition Rules (including without limitation any additional rules set forth in the Eventspecific Athlete Information Guide). A penalty during the swim will be given at transition swim/bike. A penalty in transition and at the run course will be given and sit out at the spot. All penalties at the bike course can only be sit out in the Penalty Tent. Yellow Card: 30 seconds stop and go penalty Blue Card: 5 minutes (for each card 5 minutes) Red Card: Disqualification (the athlete can go on with the race, but will not be in the result list). In general wearing headsets or headphones or other communication devices (unless pre-approved by the Head Referee) are not allowed during competition. If a yellow card violation is not corrected by the athlete, a red card can follow. General violations Urinate in transition or at the bike/run course Failure to wear a shirt or sport top during the bike or run segment Accepting assistance from anyone other than Referees, Officials or other participants Blocking, charging, obstructing or interfering the forward progress of another athlete Giving another athlete equipment and unable to continue as donor the own race Public nudity or indecent exposure Intentional littering outside the designed areas (transition, bike and run course) Failing to follow the prescribed course (swim, bike and run) Unsportsmanlike behavior (potential suspension) Swim violations Wearing the bib-number under the wetsuit Starting before the starter s signal (only for PRO athletes) Bike violations Drafting; also when an attempt to pass takes more than 25 sec. Once overtaken, remaining in the draft zone for more than 25 sec. Doing bike repairs in the penalty tent and/or go to the toilet (during the 5 min. penalty) Once overtaken, re-passing prior to dropping out of the draft zone Not wearing a helmet during training sessions, familiarization and/or competition Make forward progress without bike Passing other competitor on the right side Not stopping in the next penalty tent after being obliged to do so Electronical and mechanical Doping Run violations Accompanying on bike or running by coach/family etc. Accepting drinks/food outside the aid stations Crossing the finish line with a non-participating individual Transition violations Wetsuit more than half out before the transition change tent Re-dress activities at the place where the bike is racked Cycle in transition; also before mount line or after dismount line Blocking the progress of other athletes Interfering with another athlete s equipment Wearing the helmet unfastened while in possession of the bike 2x 12

14 BIKE COURSE ON RACE DAY Aid Station on the Bike Course The Bike Course provides one fully equipped aid station which is setup as shown in the table above. We offer a variation of drinks: Water, PowerBar ISO ACTIVE Orange and Coca Cola (diluted with water), all in sport bottles. Thus, we offer halved PowerBar Energize Bars Mango Tropical (new bar) and Salty Peanut (offered in the wrapping), PowerBar PowerGel Strawberry- Banana and Green Apple, and halved bananas. 14

16 RUN COURSE ON RACE DAY Aid Station on the Run Course The Run Course provides three fully equipped aid stations per lap. All Aid Stations are setup in the same order. We offer a variation of drinks: Water, PowerBar ISO ACTIVE Orange, Coca Cola and Red Bull (diluted with water), all in sport bottles. Thus, we offer halved PowerBar Energize Bars Mango Tropical (new bar) and Salty Peanut (offered in the wrapping), PowerBar PowerGel Strawberry- Banana and Green Apple, halved bananas, Apples Oranges and Lemons 1/8, Cake and Crackers. 16

17 SIDEEVENTS Iron Girl Now it s your turn Girls! the first Iron Girl on German ground opens this years big triathlon weekend in Kraichgau. The Run starts on Friday June 3 rd at 06:00pm in Bad Schönborn, it is a 5km run only for girls and women. Registration as Individual Starter or as a Team ( Best Friend Team, Sisters- Team and Mother-Daughter-Team ) is possible. Individual entry: 15,00 (+ 8% Active fee) Team entry: 30,00 (+ 8% Active fee) Late registrations are possible on Friday June 3 rd until 30minutes before the race; a late registration fee of 5,00 will be additionally charged. Registration is only possible online Every participant will receive an Iron Girl Shirt and of course after the Finish an Iron Girl Medal. Moreover, within all participants we will draw a three-days stay for two persons in Robinson Club Landskron at Ossiacher See in Austria. Iron Kids A great possibility for our youngest to experience first triathlon-atmosphere. All children of the age groups can participate. Distances: Age groups 2003 and 2004: 100m Swim / 2,5km Bike / 400m Run Age groups 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008: 50m Swim / 1,0km Bike / 400m Run Registration is possible till , registration fee is 12,00 per child (+ 8% Active fee), payment only possible by credit card. Late registration will be possible on Saturday till 04:45pm (15minutes before the start) if slots are still available. For the participation at the Iron Kids it is necessary to hand in the waiver, signed by parents. You can download the waiver on our homepage Registration opens on Saturday at 03:00pm at Hardtsee in Ubstadt-Weiher Bike-Check-In: 03:30pm 04:45pm Start: 05:00pm in different Start Groups Note: Children should have practiced open-water-swimming before the Iron Kids competition. During the Race, all Kids have to wear a helmet on the bike course. 17

SwimSmart Top 10 Checklist An open-water swim in a triathlon is substantially different from swimming in a pool. This is why it is important that you arrive on race day healthy, fit and prepared. On our homepage we created a SwimSmart Top 10 Checklist for you to support you with your race preparations. If you are involved in an accident: Athlete Spectator: The police must be called! You have to stay till the police has arrived! Athlete Athlete: Communicate with each other, whether both of you can continue. If not, both athletes have to stay till the police arrived. Important Note!: IRONMAN does not allow athletes to transfer his or her registration to another person. This will result in a disqualification and potential suspension of future IRONMAN events. If an athlete has to stop the race and quit, he has to inform a referee, officials or stop by the information point at the Transition Area! Feel free to meet and ask them for assistance! 18
