2 Duá ul Adeelah Merits د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة This dua'a contains the articles of faith. Every faithful must recite this dua'a regularly to drive away Shaytan, and to remain firm in the true faith. A dying faithful, in the last moments of life, should recite this dua'a, or, if it is not possible, ask someone else to read it aloud for him or her, so as not to be misled by doubts which may come into the mind, or not to be depressed emotionally, because these forces together with the misleading suggestions of Shaytan, more often than not, in the last hour of life, make man die a death of an infidel or hypocrite. 3 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah م ص و الل م ح م ؾ ل د د و ا ل م ح م O' Allah send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

4 ب س م الل ي الر ح م ن م الر ح In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. bismi allahi alrrahmini alrrahimi

5 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah إ ال إ ل ي ال اه ي الل ي ش د Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, shahida allahu annahu la ilaha illa huwa

6 و ال م الئ ن ة و اول ا ؿ ل م ال and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge, walmala'ikatu wa ulu al`ilmi

7 ك س ط ل ائ ما ب ال maintaining His creation with justice; qa'iman bilqisti

8 إ ل ي ال إ ال ال ؿ ز ز ال ح ن م there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. la ilaha illa huwa al`azizu alhakimu

9 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah إ ن الد ن اإل س ال م ي الل ؾ و د Surely, the (true) religion with Allah is Islam. inna alddina `inda allahi al-islamu

10 ؿ ب و اه ا ال د د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah الض ؿ ف ب ال م ذ ه I am the slave feeble, sinful, wa ana al`abdu aldda`ifu almudhnibu

11 ال ؿ اص ال ح ك ر ا ج ال م ح ج disobedient, needy, and ignoble al`asi almuhtaju alhaqiru

12 د ل م و ؿ م و خ ا لك اش I testify to my Benefactor, Creator, ash-hadu limun`imi wa khaliqi

13 و ر از ل و م ن ر م Provider of me with my sustenance, and my Honorer, wa raziqi wa mukrimi

14 ه م ا ش د ل ذ اث ي as same as He has testified to Himself kama shahida lidhatihi

15 د ت ل ي و ش ال م الئ ن ة and the angels have testified to Him wa shahidat lahu almala'ikatu

16 ؿ ل و اول ا م ن ؾ ب اد ى م ال so have those possessed with knowledge amongst His servants wa ulu al`ilmi min `ibadihi

17 ب اه ي ال إ ل ي إ ال that there is no god save Him bi-annahu la ilaha illa huwa

18 م ذو الو ؿ د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و اإل ح س ا ن the Lord of bounties, favors, dhu alnni`ami wal-ihsani

19 و ال ن ر م و اال م ج و ا ن generosity, and kindness. walkarami wal-imtinani

20 ل اد ر ل از He is Omnipotent, Eternal, qadirun azaliyyun

21 ؾ ال م اب د ي All-knowing, Everlasting, `alimun abadiyyun

22 ح اح د ي Ever-living, One and Only, hayyun ahadiyyun

23 م ج د س ر م د ي Self-existent, Endless, mawjudun sarmadiyyun

24 س م ؽ ب ص ر All-hearing, All-Seeing, sami`un basirun

25 م ر د ه ار ى Willing, Discriminating, muridun karihun

26 م د ر ك ص م د ي All-aware, and eternally Besought of all. mudrikun samadiyyun

27 ح ق ذ ى س ج الص ف ات He is worthy of all these attributes, yastahiqqu hadhihi alssifati

28 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ؾ ل م ا ؾ ل ي ف ؾ ز ص ف اث ي و and He, characterized by all these sublime attributes, wa huwa `ala ma huwa `alayhi fi `izzi sifatihi

29 ا ل ب و و ج و ال ك ة د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah د ه ان ل ال ك د ر ة was All-powerful prior to the existence of might and power, kana qawiyyan qabla wujudi alqudrati walquwwati

30 و ه ان ؾ ما ل ب و إ ج اد ل ة و ال ؿ ل ؿ ل ال د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah م and All-knowing before the origination of knowledge and reason. wa kana `aliman qabla ijadi al`ilmi wal`illati

31 ل ن ة و ال ل م ز د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ل م م س ل ع اها إ ذ ال م ال He has been always Authority when there was neither sovereignty nor wealth. lam yazal sultanan idh la mamlakata wa la mala

32 س ب ح اها ل و ل م ز د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ج م ؽ ؾ ل االح ا ل He has been always Glorious under all circumstances. wa lam yazal subhanan `ala jami`i al-ahwali

33 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ج د ى ل ب و اال ا ز ل ل ف از و ال ك ب His Being is before all precedence in the pre-eternity of sempiternity. wujuduhu qabla alqabli fi azali al-azali

34 ى ب ؿ د و ب ك اؤ د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ال ب ال ؿ د م ن غ اهج ك ا ل ر ز و ال His Remaining will be after all endings without any extinction or disappearance. wa baqa'uhu ba`da alba`di min ghayri intiqalin wa la zawalin

35 و اال خ ر ل االو غ و ف He is self-sufficient at the beginning and at the end ghaniyyun fi al-awwali wal-akhiri

36 و الؼ ن ف م س ج غ ال ب اظ ن ا ر and All-independent inwardly and outwardly. mustaghnin fi albatini walzzahiri

37 ال ج ر ف ل ض ج ي There is no injustice in His judgment, la jawra fi qadiyyatihi

38 و و ال م ف م ش ئ ج ي nor is there unfairness in His management, wa la mayla fi mashi'atihi

39 و ال ك ػل م ف ث د ر ى nor is there unfairness in His administration, wa la zulma fi taqdirihi

40 و ال م ر ب م ن ح ن م ج ي nor is there any escape from His sovereignty, wa la mahraba min hukumatihi

41 و ال م ل ج ا م ن س ع اث ي nor is there any shelter against His firm grip, wa la malja'a min satawatihi

42 وج و ال م م ن ه ك م اث ي nor is there any salvation from His punishment. wa la manjan min naqimatihi

43 ض ب ي س ب ك ت ر ح م ج ي غ His mercy overtakes His Wrath. sabaqat rahmatuhu ghadabahu

44 ي اح و ال ف ث ب ي د إ ذا ظل None can escape Him when He summons. wa la yafutuhu ahadun idha talabahu

45 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ف ال ؿ ل ل ف الج ن از اح He covers all logics for His obligatory decrees, azaha al`ilala fi alttaklifi

46 و س ى و الش ف ق ب ن الج الض ؿ ف ر ف treats absolutely equally the weak and the noble, wa sawwa alttawfiqa bayna aldda`ifi walshsharifi

47 م ن ن اد اء ر ال م ام makes capable to carry out His commands, makkana ada'a alma'muri

48 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ؼ ر و س و س ب و ال م ح اج ج و ا ب and makes easy to abstain from His prohibitions. wa sahhala sabila ijtinabi almahzuri

49 م ن ف ل ل اؾ ة الع و الع د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah إ ال دو ن ؽ ال س ال ة He does not make obedience a burden but according to one's real capacity. lam yukallif altta`ata illa duna alwus`i walttaqati

50 س ب ح اه ي م ر م ي ا اب ن ه All glory be to Him! How manifest His generosity is! subhanahu ma abyana karamahu

51 ش اه ي ل و اؾ How sublime His standing is! wa a`la sha'nahu

52 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah س ب ح اه ي م ه ل ي ا اج و All glory be to Him! How magnificent to seek Him is! subhanahu ma ajalla naylahu

53 و اؾ ؼ م إ ح س اه ي How splendid His favors are! wa a`zama ihsanahu

54 ي االه ب ا ء ب ؿ ح ل ب ن ؾ د ل He has sent the Prophets in order to show His justice, ba`atha al-anbiya'a liyubayyina `adlahu

55 و ه ص ب االو ي ص ا ء ي ل ؼ ر ظ ل و ف ضل and appointed successors [for the Prophets] in order to make known His munificence and grace. wa nasaba al-awsya'a liyuzhira tawlahu wa fadlahu

56 و ج ؿ ل و ا م ن ام ة س د االه ب ا ء He has made us of the community of the Chief of Prophets, wa ja`alana min ummati sayyidi al-anbya'i

57 و خ ر االو ل ا ء the most favorable of His saints, wa khayri al-awliya'i

58 و اف ض و االص ف ا ء the best of His elite ones, wa afdali al-asfiya'i

59 االز ه ا ء ل و اؾ and the most sublime of the pure ones; wa a`la al-azkiya'i

60 د م ح م د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و س ل م و ا ل ي ي ؾ ل الل ي ص ل that is Muhammad, may Allah send blessings and benedictions upon him and his Household. muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallama

61 ا ي م و ا ب ي و ب م ا د ؾ اه إ ل ا We thus believe in him, in all that to which he has called us, amanna bihi wa bima da`ana ilayhi

62 ي ل اه ز ل ي ؾ ال ذ ي و ب ال ك ر ا ن in the Qur'an which He revealed to him, wa bilqur'ani alladhi anzalahu `alayhi

63 ه ص ب ي ال ذ ي م ال غ د ر و ب ص ي and in his Successor whom he appointed on the Ghadir Day wa biwasiyyihi alladhi nasabahu yawma alghadiri

64 و اش ار إ ل ي ب ك ل ي : " ذ ا ؾ ل " and to whom he referred by saying, This is `Ali. wa ashara ilayhi biqawlihi hadha `aliyyun

65 د ان و اش االب ر ا ر االئ م ة I also bear witness that the Imams the pious wa ash-hadu anna al-a'immata al-abrara

66 و ال خل ف اء االخ ا ر and benign vicegerents [of Allah] walkhulafa'a al-akhyara

67 ب ؿ د الر س ل ال م خ ج ا ر after the Chosen Prophet are: ba`da alrrasuli almukhtari

68 ؾ ل ل ام ؽ ال ن فا ر `Ali, the subduer of the infidels. `aliyyun qami`u alkuffari

69 و م ن ب ؿ د ى س د او ال د ى ب ن ؾ ل ال ح س ن Following him is the chief of his sons, al-hasan, the son of `Ali. wa min ba`dihi sayyidu awladihi alhasanu ibnu `aliyyin

70 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ؽ الس ب ط الج اب الل ي ال ح س ن ل م ر ض ا ة خ م اخ ى Then comes his brother, the grandson and seeker of Allah s pleasure; al- Husayn. thumma akhuhu alssibtu alttabi`u limardati allahi alhusaynu

71 ؾ ل ال ؿ اب د خ م Then comes `Ali, the [distinctive] worshipper [of Allah]. thumma al`abidu `aliyyun

72 د م ح م ال ب ال ر خ م Then comes the Cleaver (of knowledge), Muhammad. thumma albaqiru muhammadun

73 ف ر ج ؿ ق الص اد خ م Then comes the veracious Ja`far. thumma alssadiqu ja`farun

74 ال ن اػ م خ م م س Then comes the suppressor of rage, Musa. thumma alkazimu musa

75 ؾ ل الر ض ا خ م Then comes the pleased, `Ali. thumma alrrida `aliyyun

76 د م ح م خ م الج ك Then comes the pious, Muhammad. thumma alttaqiyyu muhammadun

77 خ م الو ك ؾ ل Then comes the refined, `Ali. thumma alnnaqiyyu `aliyyun

78 خ م الز ه ي ال ؿ س ن ر ال ح س ن Then comes the pure resident of `Askar, al-hasan. thumma alzzakiyyu al`askariyyu alhasanu

79 ح ج خ م ال ة د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ال خل ال ك ائ م ف Then comes the Argument, Successor, Assumer, thumma alhujjatu alkhalafu alqa'imu

80 ال م ر ج د ي ؼ ر ال م ال م و ج Awaited, Well-guided, and Expected almuntazaru almahdiyyu almurja

81 الد ه ا ال ذ ي ب ب ك ائ ي ب ك ت on account of whose existence, this world is kept in existence, alladhi bibaqa'ihi baqiyat alddunya

82 و ب م و ي ر ز ق ى ال ر on account of whose blessing, the created beings are provided sustenance, wa biyumnihi ruziqa alwara

83 و ب ج د ى خ ب ج ت االر ض ا ء و الس م and on account of whose existence, the earth and the sky are kept in firmness. wa biwujudihi thabatat al-ardu walssama'u

84 و ؾ د ض االر الل ي ل س عا ال و ب ي م ال Through him, Allah shall fill the earth with equity and justice wa bihi yamla'u allahu al-arda qistan wa `adlan

85 را ما و ج ب ؿ د م ا م ل ئ ت ػل after it will be filled with inequity and injustice. ba`dama muli'at zulman wa jawran

86 ة و اش م ح ج د ان ال ال I also bear witness that their words are decisive arguments, wa ash-hadu anna aqwalahum hujjatun

87 م و ام ج د ال ف ر ض ة to comply with their orders is obligatory, wa imtithalahum faridatun

88 ة و ظ اؾ ج ر وض م م ف the obedience to them is commissioned [by Allah], wa ta`atahum mafrudatun

89 م الز م و م د ة م ك ض ة ث to love them is necessary and preordained, wa mawaddatahum lazimatun maqdiyyatun

90 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و اال ل ج د اء ب م م وج ة and to pattern after them will definitely achieve salvation, wal-iqtida'a bihim munjiyatun

91 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ف ج م و م خ ال د ة م ر but to oppose them will definitely bring about destruction. wa mukhalafatahum murdiyatun

92 و م س اد ات ا و اج م ؿ ن ة ال ج و They are, moreover, the chiefs of all the inhabitants of Paradise, wa hum sadatu ahli aljannati ajma`ina

93 الد ن م و ش ف ؿ اء the interceders on the Judgment Day, wa shufa`a'u yawmi alddini

94 و ائ م ة ا و ال ك ن ؾ ل ض االر and, undoubtedly, the leaders of the inhabitants of the earth, wa a'immatu ahli al-ardi `ala alyaqini

95 ض ن و اف ض و ال م ر االو ص ا ء and the best of the satisfied Successors [of the Prophets]. wa afdalu al-awsya i almardiyyina

96 د ان و اش ال م ت ح ق I also bear witness that death is certain, wa ash-hadu anna almawta haqqun

97 م و و م س اء ل ة د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ن ن ر و ه ر ف ح ق ر ال ك ب the interrogation by Munkar and Nakir in the grave is certain, wa musa'alata alqabri haqqun

98 و ال ب ؿ ح ح ق the raising of the dead is certain, walba`tha haqqun

99 ق و الو ش ر ح the final assemblage is certain, walnnushura haqqun

100 و الص ر اط ح ق the Discriminating Bridge is certain, walssirata haqqun

101 و ال م ز ان ح ق the Scales [of deeds] is certain, walmizana haqqun

102 و ال ح س اب ح ق the calling into account is certain, walhisaba haqqun

103 و ال ن ج اب ح ق the record book [of deeds] is certain, walkitaba haqqun

104 و ال ج و ة ح ق Paradise is certain, waljannata haqqun

105 ق و الو ار ح Hellfire is certain, walnnara haqqun

106 ة الس اؾ و ان د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ر ب ا ث ة ال ف ا the Hour [of resurrection] will certainly come, without any dispute, wa anna alssa`ata atiyatun la rayba fiha

107 ال ك ب ر ف الل ي و ان ب ؿ ح م ن and Allah shall raise up those who are in graves. wa anna allaha yab`athu man fi alquburi

108 الل م ائ م ر ج ف ضل O Allah, in Your favor do I put my hope, allahumma fadluka raja i

109 و ه ر م م و ر ح م ج م ام ل Your generosity and mercy do I expect confidently, wa karamuka wa rahmatuka amali

110 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ال ؾ م ل اس ج ح ق ب ي ج و ال ة I have no single deed by which I deserve Paradise, la `amala li astahiqqu bihi aljannata

111 و ال د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ظ اؾ ة ل اس ج ج ب ب ا الر ض ان nor do I have any act of obedience [to You] due to which I deserve Your pleasure; wa la ta`ata li astawjibu biha alrridwana

112 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah د ت اؾ ج ك إ ال اه ث ح د ك و ؾ دل م except that I believe in Your Oneness and Your Justice illa anni i`taqadtu tawhidaka wa `adlaka

113 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ار ث ج ت إ ح س اه م و ف ضل م and I hope for Your benevolence and Your favor. wartajaytu ihsanaka wa fadlaka

114 م إ ل ب الو ب اح ب ج م ؿ ت و ث ش ف د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ن م و ا ل ي I thus seek the Prophet and his Household, Your most-beloved ones, to intercede for me before You; wa tashaffa`tu ilayka bilnnabiyyi wa alihi min ahibbatika

115 و اهت اه ر م م ن االه ر and You are verily the most Generous of all those who treat generously wa anta akramu al-akramina

116 و ار ح م الر اح م ن and the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. wa arhamu alrrahimina

117 ؾ ل الل ي ل و ص د ه ب و ا م ح م May Allah send blessings to Our Prophet, Muhammad wa salla allahu `ala nabiyyina muhammadin

118 اج م ؿ و ا ل ي ن and upon all of his Household, wa alihi ajma`ina

119 الع ب ن الع ا ر ن the pure and immaculate, alttayyibina alttahirina

120 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و س ل م ث س ل ما ه د را ه د را and send upon them many many benedictions. wa sallama tasliman kathiran kathiran

121 و ال ل ة إ ال ال ؿ ؼ م د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ل و ال ح ال ؿ ل ي ب الل There is no might and no power except with Allah, the All-high, the All-great. wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi

122 الل م ا ار ح م الر اح م ن O Allah! O most Merciful of all those who show mercy, allahumma ya arhama alrrahimina

123 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah إ ه او د ؾ ج م ك و د و ا ت و خ ب ذ ا I am depositing with You this faith of mine and my firmness on this belief; inni awda`tuka yaqini hadha wa thabata dini

124 و اهت خ ر م س ج د ع and You are the ever-best of all those who keep deposits. wa anta khayru mustawda`in

125 ام ر و ل ث و ا ب ح ف غ د ائ ؽ ال د You have commanded us to keep safe deposits that are put with us; wa qad amartana bihifzi alwada'i`i

126 ض ر م ث ف ر د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ى ؾ د ت ح و ل ل so, (please) keep for me this deposit to give it back to me at the time of my death faruddahu `alayya waqta huduri mawti

127 ن و ؾ و د م س اء ل ة م و ن ر و ه ر and at the time of the interrogation of Munkar and Nakir; wa `inda musa'alati munkarin wa nakirin

128 ب ر ح م ج م ا ار ح م الر اح م ن [I beseech You] in the name of Your mercy; O most Merciful of all those who show mercy. birahmatika ya arhama alrrahimina

129 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah م إ ه اؾ ذ ب م م ن Many authentically الؿ د ل ة reported supplications have comprised the following statement: الل ت ؾ و د ال م O Allah, I seek Your protection against deviation at the hour of death. allahumma inni a`udhu bika mina al`adilati `inda almawti

130 Deviation at the hour of death stands for shifting from the right to the wrong at the hour of death. To explain, Satan attends at the hour of death in order to deceive the moribund and suggest evil to him in order to make him doubt about his religion. If Satan succeeds, he will pull out faith from the heart of the dying person. To avoid that, many supplications have comprised statements of seeking Almighty Allah s protection against deviation at death. Fakhr al-muhaqqiqin says, To escape deviation at the hour of death, one should bethink the proofs of creed in which he believes, as well as the five principles of the religion with all of their irrefutable evidences, with absolute sincerity and purity and should then trust them with Almighty Allah beseeching Him for giving them back at the hour of dying. This can be done by saying the following prayer:

131 الل م ا ار ح م الر اح م ن O Allah, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy, allahumma ya arhama alrrahimina

132 د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah إ ه او د ؾ ج م ك و د و ا ت و خ ب ذ ا I am depositing with You this faith of mine and my firmness on this belief; inni qad awda`tuka yaqini hadha wa thabata dini

133 و اهت خ ر م س ج د ع and You are the ever-best of all those who keep deposits. wa anta khayru mustawda`in

134 ام ر و ل ث و ا ب ح ف غ د ائ ؽ ال د You have commanded us to keep safe deposits that are put with us; wa qad amartana bihifzi alwada'i`i

135 ض ر م ث ف ر د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah ى ؾ د ت ح و ل ل so, (please) keep for me this deposit to give it back to me at the time of my death faruddahu `alayya waqta huduri mawti

136 م ص الل د ؾاء ال ؿ د لة Duá ul Adeelah و ؾ ل م ح م د و ا م ح م د ل O' Allah send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
