7 Cal MARITIME COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON The 2016/2017 season has been another great one for Cal Maritime. The team competed at the 2016 Rolex Big Boat series and placed 4th in class, a personal best for them! The Keelhaulers also were able to send a freshman team to compete at the Kennedy Cup, placing a respectable 4th place after only days sailing together. The biggest news for Cal Maritime Sailing was their 2nd place finish at the Student Yachting World Cup in La Rochelle, France. The team fought incredibly hard and came away just one point shy of taking home the trophy! The College of Charleston offshore sailing team is composed of 21 skilled sailors. They work hard every day, on and off the water, in order to bring their highest performance to every regatta. Taking those lessons, they have refined their skill in the warm waters of Charleston Harbor. Backed by the outstanding coaches and the college s athletic department, this team has clawed its way to the top since its founding in Having placed 3rd in Kennedy Cup and 3rd in SCOR this season, the Cougars plan to clutch 1st in Los Angeles. Rest assured, you will be seeing more and more of the College of Charleston offshore team as they continue to grow and prosper. 8 MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY OREGON STATE UNIvERSITY The Mariners will travel to California with a great combination of old and new guard. The team is led by veteran trimmer and three time Harbor Cup sailor, Issac Parker, who truly keeps the boat going. Driver Graham Roeber returns for his second year on the heels of a great fall season. Phillip McGee backs up Issac for a second time at the regatta and is a great bridge between the back and the front of the boat. The remainder of positions are filled with enthusiastic freshman who come with a wealth of experience. Bowman Geoff Knight joins the team from Annapolis and has spent many years in big and small boats on the Chesapeake. Dillan Morey is master of all things on the mast and out benches everyone on the team. Corinne Poitras may be a bit quiet, but her focus and determination shout loud and clear. The main trimmer, Jay Trentham, is a dinghy-team transplant and has a positive attitude that will outshine even the grumpiest of sailors. Brad Tibbetts joins the team as the alternate-ace-in-the-pocket ready at all times Harbor Cup Team Graham Roeber 19 James Trentham 20 Isaac Parker 18 Philip McGee 18 Corinne Poitras 20 Dillon Morey 19 Geoff Knight 20 Brad Tibbetts 20 Coach: Caroline Councell The Oregon State University sailing team is ecstatic to be competing in the 2017 Harbor Cup. Founded in 1978, OSU sailing is a key member of the Northwest District. In the last six years, OSU sailing has been progressively stepping up its game, competing in higher level regattas, and increasing travel. This school year alone the team has driven over 3,000 miles, and competed outside of the Northwest four times. In the last three years, OSU has qualified each year for singlehanded nationals, twice for match race nationals, and once for both co-ed and team race nationals. This year we are excited to represent the Northwest at Harbor Cup, in what seems to be the first appearance by a Northwest team in over a decade, and the first appearance ever for our team. This campaign s crew is primarily composed of underclassmen and is an energetic, driven, and focused group. Across the seven sailors, four hail from the Portland Oregon region, two are from the Bay Area, and one is from Hawaii. OSU sailing is prepared to represent the Northwest well! 2017 Harbor Cup Team Skipper: Michael Levy 19 Main: Quanah Green 19 Trim: Drew Ehlers 19 Offside Trim: Matthew Reynolds 20 Pit: Natalie Shaw 20 Mast: Thomas Hope 20 Bow: Andrew Wilkinson 18 Coach: Andrew Nelson 14 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup 2017 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup

9 TEAM IRELAND UNITED STATES COAST GUARD Team Ireland is made up of students from the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) in as well as a few fellow students outside of the CIT institution. All natives to Ireland, the two crests represent the two counties in Ireland that the students are from, County Cork and County Mayo. As the first international competitors in the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup Regatta, Team Ireland sailors bring world class sailing experience from representing Ireland at the Student Yachting World Cup in La Rochelle, France, to competing in the Round Ireland Race in 2016 and the 2016 Irish Defence Forces Sailing Championship. The United States Coast Guard Sailing Team was founded in Since then, the sailing team has remained an important part of Cadet training at the CGA. Currently, the team consists of both our Offshore Racing Team that focuses primarily on big boat offshore and ocean racing, as well as our Intercollegiate/dinghy team, which participates exclusively in intercollegiate dinghy regattas. We also conduct a Summer Ocean Racing Program which includes select members of both the Offshore and Dinghy teams. The Summer Ocean Racing team participates in many high profile regattas on the East Coast sailing in both their J44 and their new purpose built Leadership 44s, and competing in events such as the Newport-Bermuda Race, Block Island Race week, and Marblehead Halifax, race among others Harbor Cup Team Marcus Ryan 17 Grattan Roberts 20 Pearse O Flynn 16 Robbie English 16 Dave Kenefick 17 Robin O Mahony 17 Cliodhna Connolly 18 Ellen O Regan Harbor Cup Team Eric Gimple 20 Andrew Goetz 18 Will Colomb 18 Erin Wright 18 Will Gigantelli 18 Zach Grace 19 Toby Ferl 20 Wes Ludwig 20 Coach: Kevin Dooley 16 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup 2017 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup

10 UNITED STATES NavAL ACADEMY UNIvERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SANTA Barbara The U.S. Naval s Varsity Offshore Sailing Team (VOST) contains approximately 85 members from all over the United States. 100% of the team is comprised of walk-ons, the majority of whom have no prior racing experience. Each team member s training starts on a Colgate 26 in the fall of their freshman year, and continues through their time on the team with different stages of sailing and leadership development. VOST competes in summer offshore races that include Annapolis to Newport, Newport to Bermuda, and Block Island Race Week. In 2016, Navy s team had a successful intercollegiate season, taking second place in the Kennedy Cup and first place in the Shield s Trophy Regatta, the McMillan Cup, and the Larchmont Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta. Navy is proudly represented in the Harbor Cup by seven team members who are hungry for a West Coast victory Harbor Cup Team Matt Robbins 17 Teddy Papenthien 18 George Davis 19 Trent Tibbetts 17 Mikala Bussey 17 Dylan Thompsonsevcik 17 Gunnar Hough 18 Coach: Jahn Tihansky The California, Santa Barbara Sailing Team is very excited to be attending our first Harbor Cup in recent team history! The UCSB club sailing team is comprised of 41 talented sailors from all around the globe who each bring a different skillset to the team. While most of our members originate from California, having grown up competing against each other on the local circuits, we also have teammates from various parts of the East Coast, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa. Our team has done exceptionally well in recent years competing in intercollegiate dinghy regattas and national championships, and we continue to improve as a one of the highest ranked club teams in the nation. The UCSB Harbor Cup team brings together our best big boat sailors who have experience competing on the international match race circuit, winning various dinghy national championships, and hold offshore racing wins. Our keelboat team is looking forward to sailing the Catalina 37s and competing against other top teams in the nation Harbor Cup Team Christopher Weis 18 Alex Burrow 18 Sterling Henken 18 Dylan Finestone 19 Remy Margerum 17 Max McKinney 18 Kristina Miller 17 Jack Martin 18 Coach: Brad Shaupeter 18 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup 2017 The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup

11 UNIvERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA UNIvERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA The South Florida Offshore Sailing Team was organized in the fall of 2015 for a collegiate offshore event in the Midwest and now competes in a full schedule of keelboat events throughout the year. South Florida Offshore is comprised entirely of sailors from the USF Coed, and Women s teams. The offshore team is a primarily student-athlete organized branch of USF Sailing, relying on the generosity of local sailors in the Saint Petersburg area for the use of their boats for practices. Many USF Offshore sailors maintain full schedules with the dinghy team or are involved with various one-design fleets that frequent Tampa Bay. South Florida Offshore has seen some success this season, including wins at the Larchmont Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta, and the ICSA Keelboat National Championship for the Kennedy Cup. The team is excited to compete in the 2017 Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup; Los Angeles Yacht Club and its members put on a world class event and the sailing will undoubtedly be close Harbor Cup Team Michael Trebilkock 17 Sean Cornell 18 Orrin Starr 19 Michael Sanandajian 18 Cameron Smith 19 Mandi Dickie 18 Andrew Baird 18 Brendan Feeney 18 The Southern California Varsity Sailing Team represents an integration of intense competition, extreme focus, diversification, and lots of fun. The rigors of sailing on the team rival those of the classroom. Team members must balance work with play (college sailing and college are both), while maintaining the academic excellence that was exhibited to be admitted to USC. Practices are strenuous, goals are challenging, and expectations are high. Skills of leadership and teamwork are paramount and our number one goal (as it has been for decades) is that this should be some of the most fulfilling years of your life, particularly in sailing. This year s team members have their eyes on winning the Harbor Cup after placing fourth last year. The returning crew members are skipper Paul Chyz from Seattle, WA; main trimmer Peter Wong from Singapore. New crew members are Melissa Schem from Los Angeles, CA; Cliff Lester from Boulder, CO; Will Paulsen from San Francisco, CA; Upamanyu Dutta from Mumbai, India, Kyle Blair from Long Beach, CA; Mason Comerford from Honolulu, HI; and Lorea Mediguren from San Diego., CA. Having a big turnover from 2017 Harbor Cup Team last year Peter Wong 18 Paul Chyz 18 Melissa Schem 18 Cliff Lester 19 Will Paulsen 19 Upamanyu Dutta 20 Kyle Blair 20 Mason Comerford 20 Lorea Mendiguren 20 Coaches: Mike Segerblom and Roger O Connor the team is very excited to represent USC in the Harbor Cup.
