1 Soundings Newsletter of South Port Sailing Club October 2015 Message from the Commodore Ann Ramey Sadly, sailing season is winding down. September has been an excellent month to sail. Many great cruising days and some awesome racing. The Hospice Regatta was well attended with 15 boats participating. Many thanks to Kelly Johnson and Joe Davidson for organizing this event for a worthy cause. We raised $4,709.50, over 2, more than year. What a great donation from our club. I think the burgers were the largest I had ever eaten, and there was an array of delicious salads provided by the racers. Harvest Moon is over for another season. The race was exhilarating to say the least!! Extremely high winds resulted in broken rigs and many DNF s. Special thanks to the Race Committee. Gravol may have been the choice of the day! Post-race festivities were enjoyed by many. Just Jeff s Catering provided the chili that was delicious. Thank you to Ed Hickey and those who helped serve and clean up. Cradle moving is Saturday October 17 th and Haul Out is Saturday October 24 th. Forms in this issue. Our Fall Furl is Saturday November 7 th At The Club. Cocktails are 6:00 pm. Dinner at 7:00 pm. The full details on cost and the menu is on page 9 of this issue. Please return your reservations form as soon as possible. If there is a large turnout we may rent additional tables and chairs. The time to fill Executive positions is upon us. The Nominating Committee is looking for a Cruise Chair. If you are interested in this position or have a member suggestion, please contact myself, Lynn Baker, Renee Brown or Andy Hellenbart.
