We hope you were able to enjoy BlueSky over the summer. Sandra and the staff are working hard to get everything in place for another great winter season. So, we re ready for the snow to start piling up! Everyone received our follow up letter after the Annual Meeting, so we won t repeat the same things here, with one exception. The exception is the request for owners to volunteer to serve on one or more of the committees we have at BlueSky to help the Board and Wyndham manage our wonderful property. Please see the list of committees and their description in the previous letter. If you would like to volunteer or want more information, please let any of us on the Board, or Sandra, know. Financially, through August, we have an operating surplus over $16,000. However, we are over budget, primarily due to an uninsured leak/mold expense. We expect this budget position to improve with the September and October reports. Remember that all the financial reports are posted on the HOA web site. 4 P A G E 4 Fun Fact: The Falcon Chair on Peak 10 services runs all named after WWII planes: Crystal, Cimarron, Doublejack, and Mustang! A History of Breckenridge Ski Resort Part 1: The concept of building a ski resort in Breckenridge began during the late 1950's when the Porter and Rounds Lumber Company became interested in bringing skiing to the valley. Initial plans called for four ski lifts, a four passenger gondola, air strip for executives, lodging, shops and restaurants. The Peak 8 Ski Area opened on December 16, 1961 with one Heron double chair and a midway unloading station and one short learners T- bar. Ticket prices were $4 for an adult and $ 2.50 for children. Attendance ranged in the neighborhood of 17,000 skiers. The following year a 375-foot Constam double chair was installed up the "Mach One" trail. In 1965, Chair 2 was installed by Heron, which terminated near the top of the current Colorado Super Chair. A base lodge was completed on Peak 8, but the structure was short lived. An explosion destroyed the building shortly after completion, a gas leak was suspected. By 1967, Harry Baum from Arapahoe Basin was in charge of operations at the ski area & later purchased the resort. That same year, a Poma lift was installed near the summit of Chair 2 to what is now the summit of Chair 6, serving high alpine bowl terrain. Skier visits topped over 140,000 people. In 1970, Aspen Skiing Company purchased Breckenridge & Baum was retained as the manager. During the summer of 1971, two new double chairs were installed on Peak 9, along with multiple ski runs. The total cost of the expansion was $4.5 million. In 1972, the popular C Chair was built with runs Union, Minnie, and Silverthorne Cutoff. Ticket prices topped $6 per day with skier visits at 271,000 people Perhaps the most important change that helped propel Breckenridge Ski Resort to become what it is today, was the completion of the Eisenhower Tunnel in By 1978 A, # 4, and D Chair were installed providing access on Peak 9. The same year, Aspen Skiing Company was sold to Twentieth Century Fox, which had vast profits from the hit movie Star Wars. During 1978 the alpine slide was constructed providing summer on-mountain activities. Chair 6 was installed in 1979, which provided easier access to some of Breckenridge's bowls. New runs included Frosty s Freeway. The season of marked a big drought for Breck when only 86 inches of natural snow fell. Skier numbers fell to 195k, almost half the previous season Breckenridge1972 The world's first high-speed quad was installed at the base of Peak 9 during In 1983, The E Chair was installed, ticket prices reached $19 per day, with skier visits at 673,000 people. In 1984 the infamous T-bar made its debut up the Horseshoe Bowl. Ownership of Aspen Skiing Company changed when the Crown family purchased the operation from Fox Also in 1984, Breck was making the history books for being Colorado s first major resort to allow snowboarding. Peak 10 opened for the first time the in 1985 with a new Poma quad chair called the F Lift. The chair was converted into a high -speed lift for the following ski season. Next time. 5 P A G E 5 From Sandra s Desk The BlueSky GM Views of the new look Lobby and Library Greetings BlueSky owners! Can you believe that last month was my 3rd year anniversary as GM at BlueSky my, time flies! Already this fall we have seen several inches of snow and Arapahoe Basin is due to open for the Ski season tomorrow with Breckenridge opening in just 4 weeks time! So far it has been an early winter for sure. Fall Closure A reminder that BlueSky will be having a short fall closure starting October 30 th, re-opening on November 9 th 2017, The front desk will be open from 9am-5pm only during this time and there will be no shuttle or coffee services. The building and units will be undergoing fall cleans and inspections. The fitness room, steam showers, Pool and Hot tubs may also be out of action for a short time for cleaning and general maintenance. During the closure owners are of course welcome to stay anytime. As all units are blocked to reservations, if you wish to reserve your unit and stay during this time, please call and we will be happy to override the block and make the reservation for you. Lobby and Locker Room Refurbishment There have been two large projects taking place this summer. The Lobby and Library project got finished up just prior to July 4th and I know many of you have seen the final outcome and we have received some very positive comments. I hope you like and enjoy the New look! Currently underway is the Residents Locker room remodel. This will be finished by Ski Season and will bring a whole new fresh look to the room. The carpet and upholstery are being replaced, the room has been newly painted and there will also be new Artwork added. New 2018 Common Area Carpet Committee Members needed! Next Spring the entire property s common areas will be getting new carpet. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining a temporary committee through until the end of the year, to help select the carpet and oversee the project. Unit upgrades? If you are looking for a quick and easy way to make an upgrade to your unit, one thing that will have an immediate and marked improvement is to consider replacing the main TV in the living room to one with a 50 or bigger LED screen. We strongly suggest if you have not yet replaced the original TVs that an upgrade would be recommended to keep up to date with current trends and guests expectations. The price of flat screen TVs has recently come down immensely and you can easily source one for under $500. Best Buy, Target, Walmart and Amazon all have excellent deals and usually free delivery. At time of writing, for example, as shown below Walmart had a Sceptre P LED TV for just $260. Order your TV online and get it shipped directly to BlueSky and we can install it for you, also moving the current living room TV into the master bedroom. Please contact me for more information or if we may assist with your installation. Other upgrades that you may wish to consider are bedding and other soft furnishings, coffee and end tables, lamps, rugs, dining tables and chairs. These items, in most cases, are now 10 years old and starting to show signs of needing replacement. If you are considering upgrading some of these, I would be happy to recommend a local designer who can help you with sourcing new items. Please just contact me and I will be happy to help. Breckenridge Dining Passport The FALL 2017 Breckenridge Dining Passport IS OUT! They are valid September 25th through November 16th. The passport is a unique fundraising and informationpacked pamphlet available seasonally to diners granting access to tons of discounts and special deals at participating restaurants, including 2 for 1 s. Passports are available to purchase for $10 at participating restaurants and the Breckenridge Welcome Center, and are valid for two people. Highway 9 Construction ending! In addition to the Roundabout addition at Park and Main in Breck, work at Iron Springs is nearing completion. This has been close to a 2 year project to make the final stretch of road between Frisco and Breckenridge a continuous 4 lane highway near Farmers Korner and Summit High School and will be a welcomed upgrade once it s finished. Owner Reservations I would like to remind all our rental owners to please consider making your owner reservations as soon as you can. Units are now available to book right through until the end of Summer Reservations can be made on the OwnerNet or any of us are happy to place an owner reservation for you. 6 P A G E 6 Four O clock/park Ave Roundabout Construction The intersection of Park Avenue and Four O clock Road is a critical intersection in town. The Town and CDOT agreed that a roundabout would be a better solution than a signal in this area. Funded jointly by the Town of Breckenridge and CDOT, this project is a single lane modern roundabout. Construction started in April and was completed by end of July. The council is hopeful that roundabouts will help to lessen congestion that often backs up traffic on Park Avenue. According to the Federal Highway Administration, roundabouts can reduce traffic fatalities by up to 90 percent, and pedestrian crashes by 30 to 40 percent. In addition, while roundabouts slow traffic, they also increase traffic capacity by 30 to 50 percent over four-way intersections. More roundabouts at key intersections in Breckenridge are planned for the near future.

Winter in Breckenridge Dew Tour 17, December 14-17: Professional skiers and snowboarders will gather at Breckenridge s Peak 8 area for another year of intense and thrilling competition. This year s itinerary will serve as an Olympic qualifier for both ski and snowboarding half pipe and slopestyle events. Enjoy the excitement with one ride up the Snowflake Chairlift to the venue! Ullr Fest, January 11-14: This year brings the 54th annual celebration of winter in Breckenridge. A massive bonfire, Viking themed costumes, Main Street rail jams & more await you for this celebration of snow. Snow s January 22nd-29th: The Breckenridge International Snow Sculpting championships return to town for the 28th annual event this January. Located just down the hill from BlueSky at the Riverwalk Center, these massive artistic creations of ice and snow will be on display during the last week of January. Trail Highlight: Bliss on Peak 6 The Kensho Superchair as it ascends Peak 6. Bliss is to the left of the chair. The latest expansion of Breckenridge s terrain, Peak 6 offers an experience for any intermediate and above looking for something new. Bliss, rated as an intermediate blue run, runs to the lookers left of the Kensho Superchair as it ascends towards the peak. Powder turns are abundant on this exposed face after any amount of fresh overnight. Bliss offers a nice combination of exposure and elevation while still possessing a level of challenge that does not put it beyond the abilities of the non-expert among us. For those seeking an even greater challenge, pull off your skis or board when you unload and hike right to the summit!

This season, the Falcon Superchair on Peak 10 is being replaced by a 6-pack lift which will allow more folks to enjoy the epic intermediate and advanced terrain of Peak 10! Aerial view of The Beavers. Arapahoe Basin is introducing a brand new area of inbounds terrain this winter. Known as The Beavers, this 468 acre expansion on the west side of the resort will add challenging chutes and other terrain with hike-only access back to the base area. Have you purchased your Season Ski Pass? The high pricing on single day lift tickets makes purchasing a season pass an economical option for even those who will only visit once or twice a winter. Last year, day tickets maxed out at about $179 for a full day. Only 4 days on a full priced day ticket would mean your pass will pay for itself! Season passes are usually on sale until opening day, which this year is November 10th and can be purchased online at Passes available are the non restrictive EPIC along with the more restricted EPIC LOCAL and SUMMIT VALUE starting at $539 for an Adult season pass. Remember too, that your passes include access to many other resorts including Vail, Beaver Creek, Whistler and Park City, plus Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in Lake Tahoe! 13 P A G E 1 3 Get To Know BlueSky Staff Joe Klosky: Maintenance Manager I recently took over the maintenance manager position on 12/10/16. I am from a small town in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania. I moved to Summit County in October of I met my wife, Melanie, in 2007 and we have a daughter, Sonya, who is now 5 years old. My favorite thing to do, besides time with my family, is disc golf and competing in tournaments. I also enjoy hiking, biking and whatever activity my daughter wants to do Michael Jonas: Concierge I have lived in Summit County for three and a half years. I ve also done seasons in Aspen and Vail. I grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts, just outside Boston. My position with Wyndham is concierge. I enjoy all the usual activities up here such as skiing, camping, hiking, road tripping and generally exploring beautiful CO. I also have a seven year old yellow lab who I spend a lot of time with. Matt Wells: Maintenance My name is Matt Wells. I started in October 2016 as the maintenance specialist. I am a Colorado local from Greeley and I ve been in Breckenridge for 6 years. My winters are spent snowboarding, snowmobiling, mountaineering, and winter camping across Colorado and Utah. Summertime I like to hike, fish, backpack camp, travel and race downhill mountain bikes across the country. I also run a video production company for A Culture of Speed race team out of Idaho Springs, CO. Shannon Desilets: Front Desk Agent Hello everyone, my name is Shannon and I started working at BlueSky in September as a Guest Services Agent. I am new to the area and recently moved out from New Hampshire. When I m not at work I will be off exploring the mountains on either my Snowboard or bike. If I am not out and about I m most likely cooking something delicious, painting, or playing my guitar. Thanks for getting to know me and I can t wait to get to know all of you.
