FACILITY: University of South Carolina Columbia Solomon Blatt PE Center 1300 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC The Solomon Blatt PE Center at the University of South Carolina is a semi-open air facility, that contains a ten-lane, 50 meter competition pool with a 25 yard dive well for warming up and warming down, and seating for 800 spectators. The competition pool depth is 7 feet deep measured from one meter to five meters at the starting end of the course and 4 feet measured from one meter to five meters at the turn end of the course. The competition course, as of October 31, 2010, has not been certified in accordance with C(4). ENTRY: Entry to the pool for swimmers, officials, and spectators will be through the doors to the east side of the complex - the main entrance is used for those with USC identification. PARKING: On Friday, parking must be in metered or non permit parking areas only. Do not park in permit areas. The university would prefer visitors park in the Bates West Dorm parking lot (on Whaley Street one block directly south of the Solomon Blatt PE Center) and walk across the elevated walkway to the pool complex. RULES: ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY: Unless otherwise noted herein, this meet shall be conducted with the current USA Swimming code and SCLSC rules and the information therein. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is NOT permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is NOT appropriate and is strongly discouraged. This meet is open to all swimmers and teams that are currently registered members of USA Swimming. Age is to be determined by the first day of the meet. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. 1

Athletes may enter up to 2 individual events on Friday and 4 individual events on Saturday and/or Sunday. A swimmer will be allowed only1 time trial per day, if time permits, and it will count as one of the four individual events. A swimmer may only swim in one session per day. ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED NOR WILL A CREDIT BE GIVEN FOR EVENTS NOT SWUM. MEET FORMAT: Ø Meet management reserves the right to adjust the number of heats, lanes, warm up times and sessions based upon the number of entries or the meet time line. Ø All events will be timed finals. Ø All events that are positive check-in events will be deck seeded. The check-in for these events will close, promptly, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of that session. Ø Results will be awarded by the following age-groups 10 &U, 11-12, and 15 & Over. Ø The 1500 Free, 800 Free, 400 Free and 400 IM will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating women/men. Ø ALL 50 events will start at the far end of the pool (farthest from the diving well). Ø Dive over starts may be used during events. Ø Depending upon the time line, the 400 IM, 800 Free, and 1500 Free on Friday night may be limited. Ø Swimmers must provide their own personnel to time for events 400 meters and longer. Ø Swimmers must provide their own personnel to lap count for the 800 Free and the1500 Free events. Ø Time Trials will be conducted at the conclusion of each session at the discretion of the Meet Referee. Fees must be paid on the day of the Time Trial in cash. Ø SCLSC Scratch rules regarding positive check-in events will be in effect. The penalty for missing a deck-seeded event will result in being barred from the swimmer s next individual event. (USA Swimming Rule and ) Ø The 800 and 1500 free may be limited to the fastest 30 males and 30 females in each listed event. 15-AND OLDER SWIMMERS WHO HAVE MADE THE 800 and/or 1500 SECTIONAL TIME AND 14 & UNDER SWIMMERS WHO HAVE MADE THE STATE QUALIFYING TIME FOR THEIR AGE GROUP MAY NOT ENTER THE EVENT(S) WITH THE QUALIFYING TIME. If limited, those who do not make the top 30 in the 800 and/or 1500 free may swim in another event not to exceed the individual event limit for the day. Entries will be accepted based upon the fastest seed time. In both the 800 and 1500, it may be possible to exceed the 30 male or female swimmer maximum only if there are less than 30 swimmers entered by the opposite sex in that event. Ø Open events are for any age. Swimmers may only swim in one session per day. 2

See website for meet management software to download meet event file. Entries may also be submitted by e- mail. A printed hard copy of entries, Financial Summary Sheet, and payment in full must be sent to the Meet Director for your entries considered complete. All events will be contested as timed finals. Athletes may enter up to 2 individual events on Friday and 4 individual events on Saturday and/or Sunday. A swimmer will be allowed only1 time trial per day, if time permits, and it will count as one of the four individual events. A swimmer may only swim in one session per day. Meet capacity is 500 non-palm swimmers. PALM reserves the right to enter all of its swimmers. First come, first serve. The meet will close after the team whose entries take registration to capacity are received by Sport Timing Inc. and entered in the meet. The Meet Director, along with the Meet Referee, reserves the right to determine the final number of entries accepted. SC Swimming does not accept deck registrations. All swimmers entered must be registered at time of entry deadline. ENTRY PAYMENT: Clubs should submit a single check payable to Palmetto Aquatics for the full amount due. ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries must be received no later than 5:00 PM, Tuesday, July 1, however registration will close sooner if the swimmer limit is met before the registration deadline. Questions can be addressed to the Meet Director. Teams are responsible for the delivery of entries on time and registration of team entries is NOT complete until both electronic registration and the financial summary and payment are received. To best ensure entries and payment are delivered on time, it is recommended that entries are sent via Priority Mail with a tracking number. ENTRIES TO: PALM.entries@sportstiming.com. 4 SCORING: TIMING: COACHES ELIGIBILITY: OTHER INFORMATION: NONE A Colorado Timing System with 10 lane video display scoreboard will be used. Timing and data processing is provided by Sports Timing & Software, Inc. ( All coaches must show their current coaching credentials and sign in at the Meet Director s office. Credentials should be displayed at all times. There will be a coaches meeting 20 minutes before the start of the meet s first session. OFFICIALS: Palmetto Aquatics welcomes visiting officials and appreciates their help in the officiating of this meet. Individuals wishing to officiate or apprentice at this meet should contact the Meet Referee as soon as possible. All Officials shall show their current USA Swimming registration cards and LSC certification cards and sign in at the Meet Director s office one hour prior to the first session they will be officiating. WARM-UPS: The South Carolina LSC Procedures will be in effect. Warm-up assignments will be posted prior to the start of each session. Coaches are required to closely supervise their swimmers at all times. For all sessions there will be 35 minutes of general warm-up, followed by minutes of specific warm-up. Diving is permitted only during specific warm-up times as announced. The Meet Director reserves the right to adjust warm-up times after reviewing the projected time line. Coaches will be informed of any adjustments in the warm-up schedule via and/or at the coaches meeting. SAFETY: Running and horseplay are both prohibited. Glass containers and bottles are prohibited inside the pool area. The use of pull buoys, paddles, kick-boards, bands, tubing and other equipment is prohibited. Deck Marshals will be assigned to supervise and have the authority to remove individuals for improper behavior. SPECTATORS: Spectators will be limited to the viewing area. The viewing area has aluminum bleacher seating and therefore no free standing chairs may be used. POOL AREA: Only swimmers, officials, coaches and meet personnel are allowed on the deck. No food or drinks are allowed on the deck. Swimmers may bring chairs on the deck. They may be kept on deck throughout the meet. TIMERS: Each team is asked to provide at least one timer per session. Each swimmer in distance events (400 Free, 400 IM, 800 Free and 1500 Free) will be required to provide their own timer and counter when appropriate. HOSPITALITY: Hospitality will be open for coaches and officials throughout the meet just off the pool deck in a designated area. Meals will be served Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. Snacks and beverages will be available during the meet. Fully-equipped swim vendor, AUGUSTA SWIM SUPPLIES, personalized meet tee shirts through Tees to Go, and our full Concessions will all have purchases available on site during the meet, located on the 2nd level of the Blatt Natatorium. 4
