Regular season recap: The Vanderbilt women s swim team finished the regular season with an 2-8 record, and claimed a ninth place finish at the Phill Hansel Invitational in November. The Dores opened their season at home against the LSU Tigers, and picked up their first win of the season on the road against West Florida in a tri-meet at Alabama. Vanderbilt had a number of great swims during the three-day Phill Hansel Invitational down in Houston. They set seven personal-bests along with four NCAA B Standard times and one overall win. Following their winter training trip in Puerto Rico, the Commodores played host to Arkansas Razorbacks and Houston Cougars. The Dores went back and forth with the Cougars over the course of the two-day meet and it came down to the final relay event. Houston claimed first place in the final relay which gave them the win over the Commodores. The meet against Arkansas and Houston was the final home meet of the season and VU celebrated the career of it s six seniors, Kathryn Babbin, Carrie Bencic, Alexandra Blakenburg, Kathryn Coughlin, Rachel Koch, and Kayla Moran. Success: Vanderbilt s six-person freshman class has done a lot this season to impress. In their first collegiate season, they have tallied 45 podium finishes, nine individual wins and broke one freshman record. Selah Peacock broke the freshman record in the 1000-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 10:12.85 in a first place finish against Tennessee. Peacock leads the freshman with five individual wins, she has three in the 1000-yard freestyle and two in the 500-yard freestyle. Paige Hamilton has a win in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle while Amanda Chabbott and Breinne Thorne each have a win in the 200-yard backstroke. Record-breaking SEC s: At the 2016 SEC Championships, Vanderbilt opened and closed the competition breaking a school record. In all, the Commodores broke four school records in the Missouri Tiger s pool and finished 12th with 166 points. Vanderbilt has made 19 SEC Championship appearances, with the highest finish of sixth coming in
