Box 1472, Athens, Ga facebook.com/ugaswimminganddiving twitter.com/ugaswimdive instagram.com/@ugaswimdive Georgia Seeking Another National Championship Armed with 14 swimmers and two divers, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs will compete this week in Indianapolis, Ind., in the NCAA Championships and will be aiming for their eighth national title. The NCAAs will take place Wednesday through Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus. The meet will begin Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the 800 freestyle relay finals. Prelims for the remaining days will be at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs have won seven NCAA titles, including the 2013, 2014 and 2016 crowns, and have been the national runner-up eight times. In the last 18 seasons, Georgia has been first or second at the NCAAs 15 times. Georgia will use a lineup of seniors Emily Cameron, Olivia Smoliga, Chantal Van Landeghem and Rachel Zilinskas; juniors Olivia Ball, Chelsea Britt, Megan Kingsley, Stephanie Peters, Meaghan Raab and Kylie Stewart; sophomore Caitlin Casazza; and freshmen McKensi Austin, Veronica Burchill, Meg Finnon, Meryn McCann and Katherine Parker. We re looking forward to competing for another national championship, Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. Our program really enjoys the competition at this level. We re proud of how relevant we are year in and year out. As a coach, you always want to be in the conversation and we ve done that. Our young ladies know what it takes to succeed at this meet and I can t wait to see how we do. We still have plenty of gas left in the tank. They know what a special opportunity it is to contend for a national championship. On The Air ESPN3 will stream live the championship finals sessions Friday and Saturday. Tape delayed coverage of the championships will be broadcast on ESPNU at 7 p.m. March 28 for the women s championships and at 5 p.m. April 5 for the men s championships. All sessions not streamed by ESPN will be shown on IndianaSportsCorp.org/ncaasd. Georgia At The NCAAs Since the inception of the NCAAs in 1982 for women s swimming and diving, the Lady Bulldogs have won seven national titles: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2013, 2014 and Only Stanford (eight) has more championships, while Texas has matched Georgia with seven. Georgia boasts four past NCAA champions at this year s meet. Olivia Smoliga claimed the 50 freestyle in 2015 and 2016 and the 100 freestyle in Kylie Stewart and Meaghan Raab were on last year s victorious 800 freestyle relay, while Chantal Van Landeghem was on the winning 400 freestyle relay in All-time, the Lady Bulldogs have accumulated 77 NCAA titles (52 individuals and 25 relays). Georgia has had at least one male or female

2 individual or relay win an NCAA title each year starting with Lady Bulldogs Second At SECs The Lady Bulldogs came in second at the SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. Olivia Smoliga won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke and she led off the victorious 200 and 400 freestyle and the 200 medley relays. Smoliga finished her career with 16 SEC titles (eight individual, eight relays) to rank third in UGA history behind Courtney Shealy (19) and Kara Lynn Joyce (17). Chelsea Britt, Veronica Burchill, Emily Cameron, Meaghan Raab, Chantal Van Landeghem also helped the Lady Bulldogs win four of the five relays at the SECs. Georgia, SEC In The Polls The Lady Bulldogs stood at No. 7 in the final CSCAA/TYR Top 25 poll. Worth Noting For Georgia The female members of Georgia s senior class finished with a dual meet record and the Lady Bulldogs are undefeated in their last 21 conference meets with a mark dating back to The Bulldogs were solid as well, going 32-6 over the last four seasons. With 15 wins this season (eight with the women and seven with the men), Coach Jack Bauerle now has 546 combined victories, which ranks first among active NCAA coaches, first all-time in the SEC, and third on the all-time list behind Boston College s Tom Groden and Johns Hopkins/ North Carolina s Frank Comfort. Bauerle and Groden are the only coaches with 300 wins coaching women. Bauerle has 318 with the women and 228 with the men. Eleven Georgia student-athletes earned 14 SEC weekly honors this season. Javier Acevedo was picked as the Male Freshman of the Week three times, while Chase Kalisz twice was chosen as the Male Swimmer of the Week. Megan Kingsley, Meaghan Raab, Olivia Smoliga and Emily Cameron all garnered Female Swimmer of the Week honors, while Veronica Burchill was a Female Freshman of the Week, and McKensi Austin and Olivia Ball were Female Divers of the Week. Pace Clark was a Male Swimmer of the Week and Walker Higgins was a Male Freshman of the Week. Georgia assistant coach Stefanie Williams, who was a 28-time All-American for the Lady Bulldogs, was inducted into UGA s Circle of Honor last month. Emily Cameron and Basil Orr are Georgia s representatives on the SEC s Good Works Team. Veronica Burchill is a native of nearby Carmel, Ind. Her sister, Sammi, is a Georgia signee who will join the program next year. It Was Fun While It Lasted Georgia s loss to Texas in January snapped the Lady Bulldogs Division I record of 103 straight wins at Gabrielsen Natatorium. After starting off 1-1 in their new digs (beating Clemson on Nov. 3, 1995, and falling to Florida on Nov. 4), the Lady Bulldogs were untouchable for more than two decades. To put the 103-straight streak in perspective, on Nov. 8, 1995, when it started: Seinfeld was the nation s top-rated show, and the No soup for you episode originally aired a week earlier. The Atlanta Braves had just won the World Series in six games over Cleveland brought the opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the introduction of the George Foreman Grill, a website called ebay, and the inaugural X Games. The Olympic Games in Atlanta were still eight months away. 23 members of the current UGA squad had not yet been born. It meant a lot more to us than people may think, Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. We re proud of the amount of wins, but the greatest accomplishment may be that it encompassed 20-plus years. That connects all the swimmers and divers who have competed in this pool to something special. The team in started it off and it was fun to watch it evolve.
