Tasman Mann Sausages: Tomorrow the PTA will provide free sausages for all children at our school. These will be given to the children at lunchtime.

Wanted: Can you Drive the Caterpillar after the Christmas Parade to raise money for the 2019 Year 5 and 6 camp.

Primary to serve free ice cream in cones for every child at the start of lunchtime. If your child can not have an ice cream please let us know. There is sorbet available.

These will be given to the children at lunchtime. Thank you to all the people who have supported our Friday sausage sales. If so can you please contact Margie by Friday afternoon (tomorrow) Free Ice Cream For All Children Lunchtime Thursday 13 th December Melissa Crosado from Kidztime has offered to come to Maungaturoto Primary to serve free ice cream in cones for every child at the start of lunchtime. If your child can not have an ice cream please let us know. There is sorbet available. Kapahaka Performance: Last Thurday our kapahaka group performed at the D Day Breakfast. John from More FM was there. Our school song was played on the radio on Friday morning. If you would like a copy of that clip, please me and I will send it to you. End Of Year Prizegiving: We invite family and friends to our prizegiving to celebrate the educational journey of our Year 6 pupils and other school leavers. Please be seated in the MPR by 10:40a.m. Due to limited space we ask high school pupils to stand outside until all adults are seated. After prizegiving there will be a shared lunch for the Year 6 pupils and their parents in room 1 and 2. After the shared lunch the Year 6 pupils go home with their parents. All other children stay at school. At 1p.m. the bell will go and the children will line up before finding out their classes for They will spend the afternoon with their new class before catching the bus as normal. Reports will go home on Friday afternoon. It caused goose bumps and the odd tear was spotted in the eye of the parents and grandparents, which is understandable-they would be so proud. Thank you to everyone who is involved in that group.

The sunset was so beautiful I just couldn t stop looking at it. The bit that I like about the sunset is the colours. The colours are so beautiful and bright that I just had to take a picture of it. Thank you Debbie Thornton (Librarian) WOULD YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HELP WITH THE SCHOOL CHICKENS IN THE XMAS HOLIDAYS? It's really easy, they just need five cups of pellets and fresh water EVERY DAY. There is a group of people who do this and if you pop in when you re in town or passing and tend to the chickens, you jump on Facebook Messenger page "Holiday Chooky care" and leave a message to say you have feed and watered them for the day. If you are not on face book, just text me. You get to keep any eggs for yourself. Pellets are in the blue drum on site. Best water tap to use is outside Room 5 on the end of the building. Other things the chickens love are: Vege garden scraps, handfuls of grass and clover. {We are avoiding household scraps as they attract the rats.} Please contact me if you can help. Thanks! Emma PAPER BRICKS At Maungaturoto school we have been recycling our scrap paper and making paper bricks to sell. It has been hard work!!! These work like a slow burning log but their small size makes it easier to fit them in your FIRE. We are selling these at 3 for $2 and can be bought through the office or Room One. This is part of our Enviroschools project and the money raised will go back into our school community.

5 Maungaturoto Swimming Club SWIMSAFE 2019 Subject to our finding enough coaches we hope to run this programme again next year. In order for your child/ren to be guaranteed a place for this course, please return the attached form to the Maungaturoto Primary School office ASAP. Levels 1 to 5 have a 9 lesson course to start Monday 18 th February at Maungaturoto Primary School. After school lessons will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons of each week for all levels. Children are grouped according to ability. This includes the completion of incomplete levels from previous years. The lessons will be approximately minutes and will run at a time between 3pm and 5.30pm. Places are limited due to the number of coaches available. It is run on a first in first served basis. Parents of Maungaturoto Primary School children are responsible for making sure the Primary School knows their children are part of the Swim Safe programme. If your child/ren will be staying after school you will need to let the office know that they are to be noted as being in the Swim Safe line in the changes. Rachel Browne will meet the children outside Room 6 and take them to the pool. FEES: Swim Safe: $50 per child for all levels. If you have four children participating the 4 th child is free. Fees are due when the enrolment slips are returned to school. All fees must be paid BEFORE the first lesson. All payment details are below. ENROLMENTS: MUST be in by Friday 14 th December Enrolment forms can be dropped into the Maungaturoto Primary School office or if paying online forms can be ed to rachelbrowne712@gmail.com. There is a limit on numbers. The first enrolment forms returned with payment of fees will get preference. Late enrolments will be considered on a case by case basis and will depend on numbers enrolled and any cancellations. You will be notified of your children's lesson times at the end of January or during the first week of Term 1 of the 2018 school year. RULES: Rules which must be adhered to for us to use the School Pool. Children are not permitted to play on the Adventure Playground or other equipment within the school grounds (including the tree in the bus bay) without parental supervision. Please ensure they are kept away from the pool area. Climbing the fence is strictly prohibited. The Maungaturoto Swimming Club, Maungaturoto Primary School and swimming instructors will not be held responsible for any damage, loss of property or injury that may occur within the school grounds while swimming lessons are in progress. The toilets to be used are the toilets behind the seating area. Please ensure your child knows this and does not use the changing sheds (particularly the female children). Parents and caregivers are entirely responsible for the safety and supervision of any children who come along to swimming lessons. No members of the public are allowed to be swimming when Swim Safe is on. That includes family members of SwimSafe students.. Please be aware that coaches, co-ordinators and parent helpers give up their time to coach your children, they are volunteers and need your support and always appreciate a smile and a thank you. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE COACHES. IF YOU THINK YOU MAY LIKE TO BECOME A COACH PLEASE LET US KNOW. TRAINING CAN BE GIVEN. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ABLE TO SWIM TO BE ABLE TO TEACH SWIMMING! The final levels allocated will be finalised after the first lesson. If your child attended swimsafe last year, we have a record of their achievement and will put them into their level accordingly. If they had not quite ticked off everything for a level as shown on the back of their certificate, they will be put into that level to finish it off.
