Performance Planning In Review Camp Testimonials This camp has taught me many things. That swimming in the pool isn t everything. it is the TEAM, the mental aspect, the friendships, the memories, and the opportunity for excellence to be great all the time and to not just get through it. I takes dedication and discipline, mentally and physically. This is a very enjoyable camp. Thank you! Kyle Whitaker Wow, this camp has been the best experience of my life. Although the practices are challenging, the support of the team mates is wonderful! I feel I have learned so much and will have great memories for the rest of my life! Kristen Nunnelly OTC camp of 2009 has been an experience of a lifetime. There are many intense practices that seem terrible at first, but in the end, when you complete one, it feels like you have accomplished something great. As a team, Indiana has many great swimmers, who once you get to know, turn out to be great friends. Emma Schoettmer During my time at the Olympic Training Center I have been pushed to the limit, challenged constantly, and encouraged every practice. The motivation brought by my team mates and coaches has allowed me to train harder and succeed in the pool. Alec LaMothe Being at this camp is like being thrown into the wild. Fifty-four of us are tossed into the wild and expected to survive. Each day though, we grow stronger and form a tighter bond. Each practice, meeting, meal, becomes a team event; everyone is working for each other. This camp creates more than Team Indiana, it creates a community of support for each other. That community is certainly something spectacular. Alex Burtch This camp was challenging both physically and mentally. learned to push myself to new levels. I found out what I need to do in and out of the pool to be the best that I can be. You have to leave it in the pool, you can t have any regrets. Kayla Hussey It has been a great opportunity to practice at the Olympic Training Center and also been great to train with the top swimmers in Indiana. I have seen everyone push each other. Brandon Siemasko
Performance Planning In Review Athlete Testimonial. This past weekend I got the chance to go to the national jr team camp in Colorado Springs, and although my experience at this camp was incredible, it wasn't too far from my experience at the Indiana Swimming OTC camp.... I wanted to give you a formal thank you for the endless time and effort you put into planning that camp, and giving us an experience of a lifetime. The longer I spent at the camp this weekend, the more I realized how the opportunities you gave to the Indiana swimmers and coaches has allowed many of us to achieve our goals.. I was able to meet a number of different swimmers across the country at this camp, and the only people who had come to the Olympic training center before this camp were those who had made it to a national camp, or came with their club team; no one I met had the opportunity that Indiana swimmers had, representing their state at the highest level training center in the country. For me personally, I want to let you know that the hard work, positive attitude, and the opportunity to train with and get to know the best swimmers in Indiana, (and of course the unlimited cafeteria food and chocolate milk) at the Indiana OTC camp has helped me grow so much as both a swimmer and a person, and I couldn't thank you enough! I will miss swimming with the Indiana family so much! Indiana Swimming has so much in store for them in the future, and I will be rooting for you guys from Texas! -- Bethany Galant
Performance Planning In Review Athlete Testimonial. I watched a little bit of the broadcast from high school state this past weekend, and I saw all of the results. It was incredible - what a fast meet! It's so fun watching how fast Indiana swimming is. You must be so excited. I wanted to send you an as I go into my last conference championship meet as a college swimmer. I swim for the University of Richmond in Virginia, a small school in the Atlantic-10 conference. I've learned a lot since being here - about selfless leadership, about courage, about passion in the details, and about my own love for the sport of swimming. But, I realized that I was able to learn those things because I was given opportunities in high school that planted those same seeds. I think back on the group trips I took with Indiana Swimming so fondly. I learned how to watch and be inspired by other people, I learned the importance of "team," and I learned how to make myself accountable for my own improvement. I want to say thank you for doing all that you do with Indiana swimmers so that we can learn important lessons for life. As my college swimming experience starts to come to a close, I realize I've been able to make the most out of it because of your dedication to high school swimmers. Truly, I'm grateful for all of it. -- Mali Kobelja
Performance Planning In Review Coach Testimonial. You are inspiration, you are hope. You are proof that the youth of today can connect, can think differently, and meet the challenges of the next generation. From swimming and training four to five hours a day, to making new friends (and not just on the swim team), climbing the incline, white water rafting, you have displayed character, heart, and gratitude. So, thank you for inspiring me and reminding me why I coach. I implore you to take your knowledge and bring it home. Make no mistake; you are the leaders of your clubs. You will be doing a grave disservice if do not pass along the energy and passion for swimming. You owe it to those who helped you get there. Lastly, I look forward to seeing you on the pool deck at future meets -- Chris Plumb
Performance Planning In Review Coach Testimonial. It is indeed a special time when we can gather the best Indiana has to offer for a week to train together at altitude. It is really inspiring to see great athletes push each other past their comfort zone. It is also refreshing to see athletes form different clubs get to know one another and help each other. I especially enjoyed watching the effort put forth on the test sets. We also got some great information from the USA swim staff and the guest speakers. The objectives of this camp is to provide not just swimming training but also both mental training and leadership skills that can be used well past their swim careers. It is our hope that each individual will assume a leadership role at their home club in an effort to improve Indiana swimming. I feel like we accomplished these goals and look forward to an exciting summer of swimming. I hope to see everyone at the big meets this summer and it will be fun to see everyone's progress. Just remember how far Indiana swimming has progressed since 2004, and how much potential everyone at this camp has shown. Thanks for making this the best OTC camp yet. -- Kevin Kinnel
