1 USTA Texas Section Family of the Year Award Since 1975, the Family of the Year Award is given annually to honor a family for their contributions to Texas tennis. The family that receives this award will automatically becomes a candidate for the Ralph W. Westcott USTA Family of the Year Award. What: Criteria: The USTA Texas Section continues the tradition of the United States Tennis Association by selecting a family each year. The family represents the development and promotion of tennis on and off the tennis courts on a local and/or section wide basis. The family nominated must be a resident of the USTA Texas Section at the time of nomination and actively volunteering to promote tennis in Texas. The family must be recommended by at least two (2) people (not immediate family members) familiar with the candidate family s volunteer activities. All members of the family must be USTA members All members of the family must be serving as a volunteer in fostering tennis in some capacity All members of the family must be actively involved in at least one or all levels of the USTA in such activities as working as a tournament staff member, developing and/or sustaining junior and adult programs, holding office(s) at any level of the USTA, volunteering as a coach All or some members may be competing in tennis Enriching the game of tennis in other related activities Award: Recipient of the USTA Texas Section Family of the Year Award will be presented with an award at the Annual Awards Banquet held during the section s annual meeting. The recipient, if not a current member of a section committee, will receive compensation (mileage, 1 nights lodging and banquet tickets) for the immediate family. The family should attend the USTA Texas Section Awards Banquet and provide a minimum of eight (8) tennis related photographs for the banquet s video production.
