The Dustdevils and Patriots will face off in the TAMIU KCB at 12 p.m. The Dustdevils enter Saturday s match after a 1-3 loss against St. Edward s University on Thursday night. The Dustdevils fell in four sets after nearly forcing a decisive fifth set before SEU rallied to score six straight, ending the match in favor of the Hilltoppers. Saturday s match will featurea post-game clinic open to the public free of charge. The clinic will begin approzimatley 20 minutes after the matches conclusion. SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS: DBU comes into the KCB after falling 1-3 to St. Mary s University on Thursday night. The Patriots hold an overall record of 6-12 with a 2-5 mark in Heartland Conference play. Saturday s match will mark the second and final time the Patriots and Dustdevils will face off in the 2017 season. In their previous matchup on September 21, the Dustdevils were dealt a 0-3 loss in Dallas. In 23 meetings all-time, the Patriots lead Sidneejo Fitzpatrick leads the Patriots in kills and blocks through 18 games this season. Fitzpatrick has tallied 135 kills and 68 blocks. Merci Perry leads the team with 384 assists. Layren Nicks has added 19 aces to the Patriot offense. Nicks also leads DBU with 350 digs. DUSTDEVIL LEADERS: Leah McManus, Ronnie Fountain, and Yuliia Hupkovska continue to lead the Dustdevils offensively. McManus leads the team with 149 kills while Hupkovska and McManus have each picked up 19 aces. Fountain has recorded 489 assists through 20 games. Lacy Asdourian leads the Dustdevils with 241 digs and Panebi Shirey has added 42 blocks. Prior to her time at TAMIU, Jangada was an assistant coach at Arkansas State University from Jangada was in charge of recruiting, supervision of the student-athletes, coordinating and supervising practices, overseeing travel, along with monitoring academic progress of the student-athletes. In her 2014 season with the Arkansas State Red Wolves, Jangada s team finished 3rd in the Sun Belt Conference with a 15-5 conference record (21-10 overall). In addition to this, the Red Wolves had a first-team All-American Player on the squad. In 2013, she was part of a staff that helped the Red Wolves to a record and the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals. Her middle blockers were responsible for 218 total blocks on the year, including 31 block solos, and were efficient at limiting block errors with only 15 on the season. Jangada was at Jacksonville University in She went to Jacksonville following a two-year coaching stint at Bluffton-Harrison High School in Indiana. Prior to Bluffton, she coached at Houston Baptist University and helped it to a 26-3 record during the year. The Huskies ended the season winning 18 of their final 19 matches. Jangada began her collegiate coaching career at Centenary College of Louisiana during the campaign. She has also spent time serving as a volleyball camp instructor at University of Florida, Florida Southern College, the University of Tampa, and Ball State. Susie and her husband, Wenderson; have a daughter, Liriana; and a son, Ferguson. Wenderson is a native of Brazil, a former professional boxer, and served in the 82nd Airborne in the Army. 4 2 Yuliia hupkovska Career JR Outside Hitter 5-11 Poltava, Ukaraine Yuliia is the daughter of Svetlana Kharchenko and Edwin Escamilla. She is a sister to Maria and Luke. Yuliia chose TAMIU for the beautiul campus, the caring atmosphere, and the Volleyball coaching staff. Her most inspirational figure is her Mom. After TAMIU Hupkovska wants to coach volleyball. In her free time, Yuliia enjoys spending time with friends and going to the movies. 3 Alejandra Bustamante Career SR Defensive Specialist 5-6 Laredo, Texas 4 Lacy Asdourian JR Libero 5-4 Redding, California Career Alejandra is the daughter of Mario and Joanne Bustamante. She has one sister, Mariela Bustamante. Bustamante chose TAMIU because she believes it is the best option to help her succeed in her future endeavors. Inspirational people in her life are Dick and Rick Hoyt, a father and son who participate in triathlons together even though Rick suffers from being a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. After TAMIU Alejandra aspires to be a Physical Therapist. In her spare time she enjoys dancing. Lacy is the daughter Jack and Jana Asdourian and a sister to Brittny, Richard, Bret, and Gavin. Asdourian chose TAMIU to experience a new school outside of California and the welcoming, friendly Athletics Staff. Her most inspirational figure is Jesus. After TAMIU, Asdourian plans on pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher. In her free time Lacy enjoys spending time with friends and family. 5 Mykeeta Ussery SO Outside Hitter 5-6 Universal City, Texas Career Ussery is the daughter of Robbie and Roger Wallace. She chose TAMIU for the great coaching staff. Her most inspirational figure is her mother. After TAMIU, Ussery plans to become the first African-American Female Head Athletic Trainer for an NBA or NFL team. In her free time, Ussery enjoys hanging out with family and friends, cooking or eating, and llistening to music. 6 Leah Mcmanus JR Outside Hitter 5-8 Encinitas, California Career McManus is the daughter of Dana Plant and Dan McManus. McManus chose TAMIU to continue her volleyball career and expand her knowledge and earn her degree in Kinesiology. 7 Panebi Shirey R-Fr Middle Blocker 6-0 Houston, Texas Career Shirey is the daughter of Mary Tombiri and Lee Shirey. She is a sister to Eghosa, Tari, Preda, and Bubba. Panebi chose TAMIU for its diverse community and international students. She loves the Laredo weather and established a strong bond with head coach Susie Jangada. Her most inspirational figure is Jesus Christ. In her free time, Panebi enjoys being goofy and laughing, hanging out with friends, listening to Beyonce, or watching movies...especially Disney movies. 8 Gabrielle zamora Career FR Outside Hitter 5-6 Houston, Texas Zamora is the daughter of Andra and Ed Zamora. She is a sister to Zackary. Gabrielle chose TAMIU for the oportunity to play volleyball and the campus and student-life environment. Her most inspirational figure is Gabrielle Reece. After TAMIU, Zamora will attend Medical School. In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys the outdoors, espcially camping or swimming. 10 Shelby Hale FR Defensive Specialist 5-8 Cedar Park, Texas Career Shleby is the daughter of Melissa Hale and Lavon Perrin. She is a sister to Austin Hale. Hale chose TAMIU for the opportunity to play volleyball. Her most inspirational figure is her Mom. After TAMIU, Hale will attend graduate school to earn a doctorate in Psychology. In her free time, Hale enjoys doing homework or doing work as an RA. 11 Mya Rodriguez FR Setter 5-4 Mission, Texas Career Rodriguez is the daughter of Myra Garza and granddaughter of Maria Alicia Garza. Mya chose TAMIU for its multi-cultural environment, the opportunity to study abroad, low student to faculty ratio, the proximity to home, and to play volleyball. Her most inspirational figure is her Mom. After TAMIU Mya wants to research Psychology at a large University and become a psychology professor. In her free time, Mya enjoys volunteering at her local library, reading, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and spending time with family.

Megan chose TAMIU because the University has a great study abroad and language program, it s affordable, it has a great student to teacher ratio, and it gave her the ability to play collegiate volleyball. Her inspiration is Jesus. After TAMIU Megan would like to work with the United Nations as a Translator. In her spare time Megan enjoys reading, blogging, practicing calligraphy, spending time with family, painting her nails, and singing. Ronnie is the daughter of Karen and Ronnie Fountain and is a sister to Nicki Cornejo, Mandi Wilson, Ashley Fountain, and Jon-Eric Fountain. Ronnie chose TAMIU because of the atmosphere that surrounds the school. The biggest factor was the girls on the team and the coaches. The coaches definitely sold me on the school, but what got me most was their love for the volleyball program. for my next 2 years! Her inspirational figures are her sisters. After TAMIU Fountain wants to teach biology and coach volleyball at the high school level. In her free time, Fountain enjoys working out, reading, or hanging out with friends. 18 Cami Ruiz JR Middle Hitter 5-11 Bogota, Colombia Career Cami is the daughter Carlos Alfonso Ruiz and Maria del Pilar Ballesteros. She is a sister to Lilliana Andrea Ruiz Ballesteros. Cami chose TAMIU because it gave her an opportunity to play volleyball and study her degree. Her most inspirational figure is her Dad. After TAMIU Cami will pursue a masters degree in civil engineering and hopes to become an assistant volleyball coach to pay for classes.
