3 GARDINER - TROLL STROLL 6/10 km/rated 2A NW15/1952 WA Challenges: Jefferson County START/FINISH: Wild Birds Unlimited, Highway 101, Gardiner WA TIMES: Daily: 9 am 5 pm; DIRECTIONS: From the east go north on SR 3 to Hood Canal Bridge. After crossing the bridge continue on SR 104 to US 101 in the direction of Sequim and Port Angeles. Wild Birds is about five miles past Discovery Bay, on the right at MP 276. There is ample parking, but park away from the front of the store. From the west, Wild Birds is about 10 miles east of Sequim on US 101. You will see the Gardiner Community Center on your left just before coming to Wild Birds on the left. ROUTE: See the Trolls carved into the buildings and fence posts of Troll Haven!!! You may see the mountains on a clear day. You will pass a boat ramp and a beautiful fire house. Information on the historical buildings is included at the end of the walk directions. Note: 6 km option does not go up to the College Campus or Fine Art Center. Sanction fees paid by Kay Peters HURRICANE HILL SEASONAL WALK May 1 through October31 5/10 km/rated 3B NW15/1937 YOU MUST DRIVE TO HURRICANE RIDGE TO BEGIN THIS WALK. ENTRY FEE OR PASS REQUIRED TO ENTER THE NATIONAL PARK ROUTE: The route follows roads and a well maintained trail to Hurricane Hill. Breathtaking views all the way!! Baby Joggers OK, wheelchairs not possible, Restrooms on the route. No Pets. Elevation is over 5000 feet. This Seasonal starts in April, but check ahead for snow conditions. Hurricane Ridge Conditions: Olympic National Park Visitor s Info: Sanction fees paid by Bill and LaVonne Mueller PORT ANGELES Fairmount Restaurant 3 walks HWY 101 West, 1127 Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles TIME: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM Sunday through Friday; 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM Saturday, closed Christmas Day DIRECTIONS: Driving though Port Angeles on Hwy 101 West, turn LEFT on Lincoln Street; continue straight on Lincoln past several stop lights and turn RIGHT on Lauridsen Boulevard at the stop light staying on 101 West. Go about a mile. Just before the Shell Station is the Fairmount Restaurant on the right. The Walk Box is to the right, inside the door. 2 MARYMERE FALLS WALK 5/10 km/rated 2C NW15/525 YOU MUST DRIVE 16 MILES TO THE LAKE CRESENT LODGE TO BEGIN THIS WALK. WA Challenges: Restaurants (AM); Clallam County ROUTE: A walk through old growth forest up to a 90 foot waterfall, returning along beautiful Lake Crescent with views of the Olympic Mountains. 5 SPRUCE RAILROAD TRAIL AVA: Trekking with the Trees 6/12 km/rated 3C NW15/1719 YOU MUST DRIVE 18 MI. TO THE TRAIL PARKING TO BEGIN THIS WALK. ROUTE: This trail offers a gentle stroll along Lake Crescent s north shore. Mostly following the old abandoned railroad grade, it skirts two tunnels, which are dangerous to enter. There are beautiful views of Lake Crescent and a host of other landmarks. Parts of the trail are rocky and sometimes a bit muddy - baby joggers can be used with difficulty; wheelchairs not recommended. No pets. Restrooms at the trailhead & Log Cabin Resort. Sanction fees paid by George Christensen SOL DUC FALLS /LOVER S LANE TRAIL SEASONAL WALK May 1 through October 31 6/10 km/rated 3C NW15/1720 YOU MUST DRIVE 40 MILES TO THE PARKING LOT TO BEGIN THIS WALK. ENTRY FEE OR PASS REQUIRED TO ENTER THE OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK WA Challenges: Restaurants (AM); Clallam County ROUTE: Along this trail the forest mixes the elements of the rainforests to the west with plants of the rainshadow to the east. As the trail reaches the spectacular Sol Duc Falls the route turns downstream following the east bank back to the starting point. Not suitable for wheelchairs, strollers or baby joggers. NO PETS. Restrooms along the route. Sanction fees paid by DarLyne PORT TOWNSEND Subway Restaurant 1300 Water Street, Port Townsend TIMES: Open 7 AM to 9 PM daily. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. DIRECTIONS: Follow SR 104 from the Hood Canal Bridge. Exit RIGHT at SR 19 (Port Townsend). SR 19 becomes SR miles south of Port Townsend. Continue in to Port Townsend on the highway. Subway is on the left across from the ferry entrance at the stop light. Park your car in the lot on the right or on the street, after passing the ferry entrance. Walk across to Subway to register. Please no parking in the limited Subway lot. Restrooms available. Ask for the walk box. 6 FORT TOWNSEND AVA: Amphitheatres 5/10 km/rated 2C NW15/421 WA Challenges: Jefferson County YOU MUST DRIVE TO FORT TOWNSEND STATE PARK TO BEGIN THIS WALK. STATE PARK ENTRY FEE OR PASS REQUIRED ROUTE: Fort Townsend State Park lies atop a 150-foot cliff, commanding a scenic view of Admiralty Inlet, Port Townsend Bay and the Cascade Mountains. Walk along the nature/hiking trails throughout this heavily wooded park, with its rich military history dating from pioneer days. WA Challenges: Womb to Tomb School, Death; Jefferson County ROUTE: Enjoy the series of Cappy Trails through residential areas of Port Townsend. This walk also includes a visit to several of the Batteries on Artillery Hill in Fort Worden. The 5 km option in entirely in Fort Worden State Park and is okay for baby joggers. Includes a stretch of the Larry Scott Trail with views of Whidbey Island, Indian Island and both Marinas. Strollers and wheelchairs OK. Sanction fees paid by Dick and Glenda Cable NEW IN 2015 LARRY SCOTT TRAIL BIKE AVA: Volcanoes 25 km/rated 1A NW15/1971 WA Challenges: Jefferson County ROUTE: Ride on bike lanes on streets of Port Townsend to the start of the Larry Scott Trail. ROBIN HILL FARM ODT BRIDGE WALK 5/10 KM/Rated 1A NW15/1427 ROUTE: Enjoy the Olympic Discovery Trail from Robin Hill Farm West towards Port Angeles. We hope you have enjoyed the natural beauty of our area, as well as the several working farms and dairies. Sanction fees paid by Victor McAllister OLYMPIC DISCOVERY TRAIL BIKE 70 km/rated 3A; 25/15 km/rated 1A NW15/1054 ROUTE: Ride on the Olympic Discovery Trail from Sequim through the Railroad Bridge Park to Robin Hill County Park and on to the City Pier in Port Angeles. This is mostly paved trail and partly road, offering panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains and historic vistas. Look for bald eagles. Visit the John Wayne Marina and enjoy beautiful water views. Suitable for strollers. Pets OK with leash. Restrooms on the route. Note: The 7 km Option does not go down to the Marina rated 1A. 8 RAILROAD BRIDGE to ROBIN HILL FARM 5/12/15 km/rated 1A NW15/1939 YOU MUST DRIVE TO THE PARKING AREA WHERE YOU BEGIN THIS WALK. ROUTE: Walk on the Discovery Trail to Robin Hill Farm County Park passing fields, forest, wetlands and research plots/gardens. 3 km extension trails in the park. Strollers OK, wheelchairs possible, pets must be on a leash. Restrooms on the route. Sanction fees paid by Dick and Glenda Cable OLYMPIC GAME FARM WALK AVA: Animal Safari 6/10 km/rated 2B NW15/834 WA Challenges: Womb to Tomb Death; Clallam County YOU MUST DRIVE TO THE GAME FARM PARKING AREA WHERE YOU BEGIN THIS WALK. ROUTE: While the route does not go into the Game Farm, we urge you to visit when possible (there is an admission charge.) On this walk, depending upon the time of year, you may expect to see nesting eagles, fantastic vistas of the Olympic Mountains as well as Mount Baker in the Cascades. There are unique views of the historic Dungeness Lighthouse. Restrooms. Baby joggers OK, wheelchairs with difficulty. NO PETS. ROUTE: Walk by bluffs over-looking Straits and verdant meadows and out on the Dungeness Spit. Restrooms. Wheelchairs not recommended, baby jogger OK, NO PETS.
