4 MORE PATIENTS NEED OUR HELP RIC Average Daily Census RIC turned away 600 patients last year 20% Significant increase in daily patients since /5/13: IL Health Facilities Planning & Services Review Board approved additional beds because of demonstrated need

5 RIC S NEW RESEARCH HOSPITAL: WE LISTENED AND CHANGED Community Meeting on November 19, 2012; Met with SOAR s Real Estate Committee as well as Greater North Michigan Avenue s Planning Committee; Worked with Alderman Reilly & his office as well as CDOT and DHED to address the concerns raised by each as well as SOAR and others; Resulted in substantial changes which addressed the concerns.

6 RIC S NEW RESEARCH HOSPITAL: SUBSTANTIAL REDESIGN AND CHANGES Substantial redesign of the interior and exterior of the building to allow for the future widening of McClurg, including a dedicated pedestrian easement; Redesign of the streetscape façade to enhance the pedestrian experience; sidewalk widths increased on McClurg, Ontario and Erie; Enhanced landscaping with special treatment at southwest corner of Ontario/McClurg; Substantial redesign of the building from the inside out including a shuffling and consolidation of uses and floor plates to accommodate the requested setbacks; Reduce parking count by 100 to 750 spaces; Loading operations with restricted delivery hours. Agreed to pay for infrastructure improvements in connection with traffic signalization;

7 SUBSTANTIAL REDESIGN: FOR POTENTIAL WIDENING OF MCCLURG Move entire building four feet to the west; Move the columns four feet to the west; Cantilever the front of the building; Result: Accommodates widening of McClurg Court (4 feet) Widens pedestrian sidewalk (4 feet) Maintains off-street drop-off lanes to address spillover experienced at current site

11 ENHANCED LANDSCAPING: SPECIAL TREATMENT AT ONTARIO/MCCLURG Buffer between the street and the sidewalk to deliver a pleasant pedestrian experience and enhanced safety; Raised planting beds and trees; Spacious and lush streetscape, consisting of shrubs, perennials and groundcovers; Curbed planters and appropriate seating to allow pedestrians to enjoy but not promote inappropriate loitering; At the corner of McClurg and Ontario, a small park-like setting has been created to provide a serene area.
