1 GREEN BELT RELAY DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS 2018 Map data from Stage 1 Hampton Court KT8 9AS Park here Toilets here Briefing and start here RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 1 - Hampton Court to Staines Apart from cycles, traffic cannot follow runners along the tow-path from Hampton Court. Instead follow A308 west towards Staines. To get straight to end of leg. Follow A308 to Staines. Follow main road through and around town centre. Turn right at T-junction (Thames Lodge Hotel in front of you). You can park in 1) the River Carpark on your left or, 2) follow road for 400 metres. Turn right, at traffic lights, into Bridge Street and immediately left into Bridge Carpark. To support runners. Sunbury, Shepperton Old Village. In centre of village (at 6.5 miles) do not follow runners to river - there's no through road. Instead continue to T-junction and left along B375 to Chertsey Bridge.

2 Stage 2 Staines TW18 4BU Stage 2 briefing and start Stage 1 finish Park here RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 2 - Staines to Boveney. Parking in Staines is at the Bridge Street car park or the River car park (both are pay & display). To get to end of leg. Cross Thames using Staines Bridge. At roundabout, just after bridge, take third exit. Follow A308 through Runnymeade and Windsor. Then join A332 to Eton (signed Eton and Slough). After crossing river take exit to Eton and follow signs to Eton. In the centre of Eton you will come to traffic lights (narrow streets, school is all around you). Go right at traffic lights along Keats Lane and follow B3026 through Eton Wick, over cattle grid and over open meadows. At the end of the meadows, as the road veers right, take the small (dead-end) road to the left. This takes you to Boveney. There is a good carpark near the end of the leg. The changeover point is next to the river, in front of the old church. To support runners: 8 miles into leg 2. Go straight on at lights in Eton High Street. At end of High Street, just before Eton Bridge, the road turns right. Just ahead there is a carpark with public toilets. The runners come from Eton Bridge and stay left past the carpark.

3 Stage 3 Boveney SL4 6QQ Turn here (not Dorney Lake Park here Stage 2 finish & Stage 3 start RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 3 - Boveney to Little Marlow To get to end of stage at Little Marlow, follow road back through Dorney Common. At T-junction with B3026 turn left and follow to A4. On reaching A4 (roundabout) turn left onto A4 towards Maidenhead. Follow A4 over Maidenhead Bridge. Immediately over Maidenhead Bridge turn right at roundabout (2 nd exit) onto A4094 (Ray Mead Road) to Cookham. Follow A4094 through Cookham to Bourne End. At Bourne End, turn left at roundabout onto A4155 towards Marlow. After 1.5 miles you come to Little Marlow. Continue past the village until you reach the Athletics Centre on your left.

4 Stage 4 Little Marlow SL7 3RJ Stage 4 start Park here Stage 3 finish RACE TRAFFIC Leg 4 - Little Marlow to Great Kingshill Parking at Little Marlow is at Wycombe District Athletics. This is a new venue for 2017, a few hundred yards west along Marlow Road from the village. To get to end of leg follow A4155 towards Marlow. After a mile turn right onto A404 towards High Wycombe. Follow A404 over M40 to A40.Turn left along A40 for half a mile, then turn right onto A4128 to Great Kingshill. To support runners: 0.35m. Winchbottom Lane is very narrow - do not congest with cars - bikes are OK. You can see runners at, 1) Blacksmith Arms at Handy Cross (3 miles into leg) by continuing along Wycombe Road, then after a mile, right onto A404 towards High Wycombe, Handy Cross is 1st exit off roundabout or, 2) Horns Lane (4.6 miles into leg). Do same as above, but instead of 1st exit off roundabout to Handy Cross, take 3rd exit (A4010). Go straight over next 2 roundabouts then left at next. Horns Lane is 1km further on right, just before bridge over M40 (runners come up from path on left), or, 3) West Wycombe by staying on A4010 until T- junction with A40, turn left onto A40 then immediately to West Wycombe. The car park at the Manor at 9.0 m is a good spot to support. After Hughenden Manor continue along A4128 for 3/4 mile, turn right at roundabout (still on A4128). After 1.5 mile the finish at Kingshill Green is on the left. There is a carpark just after the green, and adjacent to it. Parking is also around the green.

5 Stage 5 Great Kingshill HP15 6DR Park here Stage 5 Start Stage 4 Finish Village Hall toilets, drinks etc. RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 5 - Gt. Kingshill to Chipperfield Parking at Great Kingshill is around the Green and in side roads. There is also a small car park on The Common (see map). However, be careful not to upset the cricketers. To get to the end of the leg: From after the start, all TRAFFIC should follow the road on the north of the green through Little Kingshill to the A413, then right along the A413 towards Amersham. To get to the end of the leg from Amersham. Follow A404 to Little Chalfont. Turn left down Bell Lane. Right at T-junction, at bottom. Then next left through Latimer to Flaunden. At crossroads in middle of Flaunden, turn left (Birch Lane). After 2 miles turn right into Chipperfield Road. The finish is on the right a mile and a half along this road. After Latimer the roads are narrow and winding, so please drive carefully and give lots of space when passing runners. Also study your maps well as there are lots of ways to get to Chipperfield. To support runners You can see runners at A)Little Missenden, by turning right of the A413 after a mile. B) At the entrance to Shardeloes, by taking the 3 rd exit at the roundabout, a mile further along the A413. The first exit from this roundabout takes you to Old Amersham. On the right a few hundred yards along this road is a lay-by. The runners appear from the right just before this and follow the road to Old Amersham. C) At the centre of Old Amersham runners go left, (just after Market Hall) through the graveyard and right along the stream. Then sharp left and uphill to the Martyr s Memorial. If you have time, why not run up and see the Memorial and the view.

6 Stage 6 Chipperfield WD4 9BS Stage 6 start Park along the common Stage 5 finish RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 6 - Chipperfield to St. Albans Parking at Chipperfield is in the car park on the Common opposite the Two Brewers and along the roads next to the common. From start TRAFFIC can follow Kings Lane. After 200 metres the road goes left to T- junction. Turn right along Langley Road. After 2 miles turn right at T-junction onto Kings Langley High Street. After another 350 metres, turn left (just before church) into Church Road (runners come from right along path at side of Rose and Crown Pub and cross High Street into Church Road 2.1 miles into leg). Follow road round and over canal to T-junction. Turn left then immediately right (up under railway bridge). Follow road for 1.5 miles to roundabout at Bedmond. Turn left and after 200 metres turn right into Sergehill Lane (now back with runners at 4.7 miles). After 200 metres go straight on into St Albans Lane and under M1 after a mile. At crossroads go straight on, then 150 metres later turn right at Y-junction, at Holy Bush Pub. Runners go left at this point. From here cars continue on to T-junction. Go left along B4630. Continue straight for a mile and (just after Abbey BR station on right don t go to wrong station, see map for start of leg 7) take left into Westminster Leisure Sports Centre carpark. Note: A lot of the route I have described is on narrow roads. If you do follow this route, please drive with extreme care.

7 Stage 7 St Albans AL1 1HR Stage 6 Finish Stage 7 Start Park at Westminster Leisure Centre For stage 8, go back this way rather than left up Holywell Hill RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 7 - St. Albans to Letty Green Parking at St Albans is at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre. Note: the start of leg 7 is on the river path, across the road from the end of leg 6. To get to end of leg. 7, go right out of Leisure Centre car park. Straight over at first roundabout into St. Stephens Hill. First exit at next roundabout onto Watling Street (A5183). After a mile (at big roundabout) turn left onto A414 towards Hatfield for 5 miles. Go north on A1(M) for one junction. Exit A1(M) at junction 4 and onto A414 towards HERTFORD **(see note below). After 4 miles turn right to Cole Green & Letty Green. The changeover point is the Picnic Area, up the lane on the left, just after the Cowper Arms Pub. To support runners: You can support the runners at 1) 5.3 miles, if at junction 3 of A1(M) you take first exit **(do not go onto A1(M)) road runs parallel to motorway. Runners appear from path on the right 0.5 miles later, then follow road to roundabout, turn right over A1(M), then cross under road using subway and disappear off on path behind Galleria Shopping Centre. 2) from ** above. One mile along the A414 from junction 4 of A1(M) is the A1000. Mill Museum (7.5 miles into leg) is at this junction. To get there turn left onto A1000 then right to Museum.

8 Stage 8 Letty Green SG14 2NL Stage 7 finish/ Stage 8 Start Pub Park at picnic area after pub Park on green here if main parking is full RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 8 - Letty Green to Dobbs Weir Parking at Letty Green is limited. You can park at the Picnic Area next to the changeover. If you are using the Pub, then you can use the car park. To get to the end of the stage you can follow the B158 or the A414 to Hertford. From Hertford follow the A414, A10(T) and A10 to Hoddesdon and straight through two roundabout onto Essex Road to Dobbs Weir. To support runners: You may wish to support the runners at Hertford, Ware or on the River Lea Path. There are many nice places along the route that you can get to by car.

9 Stage 9 Dobb s Weir EN11 0AY Stage 8 finish (before road) Stage 9 start Park in public car park RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 9 - Dobbs Weir to High Beach Parking at Dobbs Weir is at the Public car park opposite the Fish & Eels Pub. There are public toilets and a small restaurant in the car park. To get to end of the stage at High Beach, you can re-join the A10(T) south to join the M25 at junction 25. Go east on M25 (towards Dartford Crossing) for one junction. Come off M25 at junction 26. Turn right onto A121 and follow under M25 to Wake Arms roundabout (in Epping Forest). At roundabout take 4 th exit (A104). Follow A414 for 2 miles to Robin Hood roundabout. At roundabout take 3 rd exit (into forest) and to High Beach. An alternative route is to come of the A10(T) before the M25 and follow A121 through Waltham Cross & Waltham Abbey. Then join A112 south to Stewardstone and at The Plough Pub (on LHS) turn left into Mott Street (now on runners route) and follow Mott Street to High Beach.

10 Stage 10 High Beach IG10 4AE Stage 9 finish Stage 10 start Park at pub, toilets in car park RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 10 - High Beach to Toot Hill Parking at High Beach is around the green and in the public car park. There are public toilets and lots of other facilities here. To get to the end of the stage at Toot Hill, go back to Robin Hood roundabout on the A104. Take the first exit (A104 towards Epping). At the Wake Arms roundabout you can either, A) Take the 3 rd exit (B172) through Theydon Bois to Abridge. Then turn left onto the A113. Eventually left at roundabout and under M25 (still on A113), after another 3 miles turn left into Church Road. Follow Church Road and then School Road to Toot Hill. Or B) At Wake Arms roundabout take 2 nd exit (B1393 towards Epping) then follow narrow lanes to Toot Hill. You will need a good map and using this route there are many places where you can support the runners. There are also very nice pubs at Bell Common and at Coopersale Street.

11 Stage 11 Toot Hill CM5 9SE Stage 11 start Stage 10 finish Pub Park along here RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 11 - Toot Hill to Blackmore Parking at Toot Hill is limited. You can park along the roads at the Village Hall, and you can park in the Green Man pub car park if you use the pub. PLEASE DO NOT park on Mill Lane as it interferes with the finish of stage 11. To get to the end of the stage at Blackmore, TRAFFIC can follow the runners for the first mile to Greensted Green. Then turn left onto Black Hall Road. At A414 turn right towards Chipping Ongar. Follow A414 through Chipping Ongar. 2 miles after Chipping Ongar, turn right off A414 onto road signed Blackmore. To support the runners you can follow instructions above and 1) turn into Chipping Ongar High Street or 2) at High Ongar which is just off the A414 to the right after Chipping Ongar. Also, 3) turn right at Greensted Green (1 mile into stage) and follow Greensted Road to Greensted Church (this is a nice place). This road will eventually take you to Chipping Ongar where you can turn right onto the A414 and after 2 miles turn right to Blackmore, or you can follow the lanes through Stondon Massey to Blackmore.

12 Stage 12 Blackmore CM4 0RN Toilets and registration at the sports club Park along here Stage 12 start Stage 11 finish RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 12 - Blackmore to Thorndon Country Park Parking in Blackmore: Parking is around the Green and on roadsides. This will be congested on the Saturday evening. TRAFFIC for stage 12 can follow runners for the first 6.3 miles to Rayleigh Road (A129) at Hutton. From here you can: 1) Continue to follow route to Hutton Church (7.2 miles), but will have to come back on yourself for 250m and turn left into Hall Green Lane. At the end of the lane (T-junction) turn left into Hanging Hill Lane and follow for just over 2 miles to T-junction with A128. Turn right, then immediately left onto The Avenue. The entrance to Thorndon Park North is on the left after another mile. 2) Turn right into Rayleigh Road and after 0.5 miles, turn left into Hanging Hill Lane. Follow for 3 miles to T-junction with A128. Turn right, then immediately left into The Avenue. The entrance to Thorndon Park North is on the left after a mile.

13 Stage 13 Thorndon Park CM13 3RZ Stage 13 start Parking, café and toilets here Stage 12 finish RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 13 - Thorndon Country Park to Jobbers Rest, Cranham Parking at Thorndon Park is at the car park next to the Countryside Centre. If this is full you can use the other one, show in the diagram. To get to the end of the stage, exit park and turn left onto The Avenue. After 1.5 miles (after Ford Building and then Water Tower), turn left at lights into Warley Road. (BEWARE OF RUNNERS crossing road 2 miles later). Continue along this road for another 2 miles to mini-roundabout. Go straight on (2 nd exit, St Mary Lane) and under M25. After another mile, and just after Thatched House Pub, turn left into Jobbers Rest pub car park.

14 Stage 14 Jobbers Rest, Cranham RM14 3JX Stage 13 finish (across road from pub) Parking and toilets at the pub Stage 14 Start (through hedge at car park entrance RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 14 Jobbers Rest Cranham to Davy Down Parking at the Jobbers Rest big car park, with toilets available in the pub To get to the end of the stage at Davy Down. Turn right onto St Mary s Lane and right again to Pike Lane. At T-junction turn left onto Ockendon Road and over motorway. At T-junction turn right towards South Ockendon. Just after Stifford Bridge (3.5 miles later), turn right into Back Lane, signed Davy Down. Parking at Davy Down is at the Visitors Centre. Refreshments should be available from the small kiosk at the finish. Postcode is RM15 5UL Stage 14 finish Parking, refreshment and toilets here STAGE 15 DOES NOT START HERE! IT S MILES AWAY ACROSS THE BRIDGE!

15 Stage 15 Stone Lodge DA2 6PD From QE2 Bridge Parking, toilets and start (Stone Lodge Indoor Bowls) RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 15 Queen Elizabeth II Bridge to Lullingstone Visitors Centre NOTE AGAIN: THE FINISH OF STAGE 14 IS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE! Please plan accordingly. Parking is at Hall Bowling Club on Cotton Lane, about 500m south of the start. To get straight to the end of the stage at Lullingstone Visitors Centre. Re-join the M25 (Southbound) to junction 3. Come off M25 onto A20 signed Farningham & Brands Hatch. At Farningham stay on A20 over roundabout. After another 0.3 miles turn right onto A225 signed Eynsford. Follow A225 through Eynsford. After another mile turn right signed Castle Farm. The finish is on the right after a mile. To support runners: Cars can follow relay to Darenth at 2.8 miles, after this you can pick up runners at Farningham by continue to T-junction. Turn left onto A225 (through Sutton at Hone) and follow for just 2 miles to roundabout. Take the second exit to Farningham. From here you can follow relay to Eynsford (runners come from river path opposite mill and go uphill to take first left Sparepenny Lane). Sparepenny Lane is very narrow. The road to Lullingstone Roman Villa is a dead end. To get to finish of leg turn left at end of Sparepenny Lane and over bridge to T- junction. Turn right and after a mile turn right signed Castle Farm. If you wish to avoid the Lullingstone Visitors Centre, you can continue along the A225 to Otford.

16 Stage 16 Lullingstone Park DA4 0JF Stage 15 Finish Parking and toilets here Stage 16 Start Additional parking here RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 16 - Lullingstone Visitors Centre to Tatsfield Parking is at the Visitors Centre, next to the changeover. There are toilets, a restaurant and a shop here. There is also overflow parking at Castle Farm. To get to the end of leg 16. Go left out of Lullingstone Visitors Centre to A225. Turn right along A225 through Otford to Sevenoaks. In Sevenoaks, turn right onto A25. Stay on A25 to Westerham. In the centre of Westerham, turn right onto B2024. After 3 miles, turn right to Tatsfield. If you do wish to jump ahead to the start of the next leg, then it is advisable to either leave early (i.e. before the leg starts). The first few miles of the route is off road along the Darent Valley Path. You can support the runners: 1) At Shoreham near the river; 2) At the centre of Otford; 3) At Dunton Green; 4) At Chevening Church or 5) On the Pilgrims Way between Chevening and Westerham Hill.

17 Stage 17 Tatsfield TN16 2AH Stage 17 Start Stage 16 Finish Parking, toilets and refreshments in village hall RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 17 - Tatsfield to Merstham Parking at Tatsfield is behind the village hall. DO NOT park around Westmore Green. DO NOT USE the Old Ship car park unless you are using the pub. To get to the end of the leg, follow runners for 1.5 miles. Then turn left onto B269 to Limpsfield. At Limpsfield, turn right onto A25. Follow A25 through Godstone and Bletchingley. One mile after Bletchingley (on entering Nutfield) turn right into Church Hill. Follow road for 2.5 miles to Merstham. The leg finishes in the car park of The Feathers Pub. To support runners: Cars can follow runners to 4.7 miles. Then pick up relay again at 6 miles by continuing down to A25, left T-junction onto A25, then left at roundabout onto A22 (signed M25), at junction with M25 cross straight over, staying on A22 towards Croydon, after 0.7 miles turn sharp left onto small road don t miss it (it s just after a bridge over the A22). Follow road for 0.5 miles, turn left at Pilgrim Fort Camp sign and stay left. Then follow road to view point runners come from path on left (NDWay. 6.4 miles into leg). Continue with relay to T-junction at 7.4m (here runners go straight across onto track to Willey Park Farm ) cars turn left and downhill, then first right onto Spring Bottom Lane. Follow signs to Merstham. Runners come from path on right (ND Way) shortly after you drive over M23 (if you stop at NDWay Path you may be able to see runners coming down the hill from the opposite side of the M23). At junction with dual carriageway turn left to Merstham. Note: end of leg 17 and start of leg 18 are not quite at same place see next map.

18 Stage 18 Merstham RH1 3BA Refreshments and toilets at village club Parking here Stage 18 start Stage 17 finish RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 18 - Merstham to Box Hill Parking in Merstham is in the Village Hall or the Station Car Park. Do not use Feathers Pub car park unless you are using the pub. To get to the end of leg 18. Take A23 towards Redhill for a mile. Turn right onto A242, signed Reigate. At junction, turn right onto A25 and through Reigate to Dorking. In Dorking, turn right onto A24 to Box Hill. To support runners: You can support at Reigate Hill Car Park at 2.2 miles by going north along A23, then first left along Gatton Bottom for 2 miles and taking sharp left up to car park (just before A217). (Runners come from path on left and cross footbridge over A217). From here you can re-join relay at 5.85 miles by going north along A217 for 3 miles, then south along B2023. Then follow signs to Box Hill (first right after crossing M25 then left). Runners cross the B2023 and also follow roads to Box Hill.

19 Stage 19 Box Hill KT20 7LB Parking, toilets and refreshments Stage 19 Start Stage 18 Finish RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 19 - Boxhill to West Hanger Parking on Box Hill is at the Pay & Display car park opposite the information centre. DO NOT USE the national trust members car park if you aren t a member. To get to the start of stage 20 at West Hanger. Turn left the bottom of Zig Zag Road. Just after Burford Bridge Hotel turn left onto A24 to Dorking. At Dorking turn right onto the A25 passing through Abinger Hammer, then find narrow road on the right (Combe Lane). The finish is at the top of this hill in the woods in a car park on the left. TRAFFIC can follow runners to the Chapel Farm just after West Humble (2.8 miles). After another 0.5 mile you can turn left onto Ranmore Common Road (very narrow single track lane) and pick up the runners at the top, as they cross over and after 3.5 miles ( at another T-junction) turn sharp left. Follow road for 2.5 miles to West Hanger.

20 Stage 20 West Hanger GU5 9TE Parking Stage 19 Finish Stage 20 Start RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 20 West Hanger to Ripley Parking at West Hanger is in the wooded car park. Please park considerately as there are no bays and we need to get everyone in. You can also park along Staple Lane but please don t block the lane. Race traffic can follow the runners down Combe Lane/Shere Road but the quickest way is down Staple Lane and through East Clandon. If you want to follow the runners, please drive carefully.

21 Stage 21 Ripley GU23 6BG Stage 21 Start Stage 20 Finish Parking, toilets and drinks (British Legion RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 21 Ripley to Walton Bridge Parking at Ripley is around Ripley Green and behind the British Legion Club to the right, just before Ripley High Street. To get to the finish at Walton Bridge, go north along High Street to join the A3 signed London. Go straight on over the M25 to the next junction at Painshill Park. Turn left onto A245 towards Weybridge and Byfleet. After 0.4 miles stay in right hand lane and turn right at lights into Seven Hills Road. Follow Seven Hills Road for 2 miles to a huge roundabout with trees in the middle. Take 2 nd exit signed Walton and Hersham (A317). At next roundabout, take first exit (Ashley Road) and follow to Walton. Turn left into New Zealand Avenue and straight on to Walton Bridge. Just before bridge turn left to the finish at the river. You can support runners at: 1) Pyrford Lock (1.5 miles) by following signs to ( and past Wisley Gardens) shortly after joining A3 from Ripley; 2) Old Parvis Road, West Byfleet; 3) New Haw Lock; 4) Old Crown Pub, Thames Street Weybridge; 5) Car park on left, shortly after Old Crown Pub. The finish is 2 miles further along this road.

22 Stage 22 Walton Bridge TW17 8LY Stage 22 Start Stage 21 Finish Parking, toilets RACE TRAFFIC: Leg 22 Walton Bridge to Hawker Centre Parking at Walton Bridge is in the car park next to the bridge. Toilets. To get to finish, turn right out of car park and follow signs to Hampton Court. Cross Hampton Court Bridge and straight over roundabout onto A308 to Kingston. Cross over Kingston Bridge (8 miles into leg). Follow one-way system through tunnel and under bridge. Then left off one-way system, towards Richmond on A307. The finish is a mile further, on the left at the Hawker Leisure on the Lower Ham Road in Ham. Alternative route for traffic to Hampton Court is, left over Walton Bridge. Then right at roundabout, through Sunbury to Hampton Court. Parking at the Hawker Centre is in the car park. You can park along Lower Ham Road too. Marshals should be there guide you.
