1 9.53 POLK COUNTY SYSTEM SUMMARY Polk County s E system has 2 Primary and 2 Secondary PSAPs as follows: BARTOW POLICE DEPARTMENT SECONDARY PSAP The City of Bartow has a Secondary PSAP at the Bartow Police Department. Calls for Law Enforcement and Fire Services are handled by direct dispatch LAKE ALFRED POLICE DEPARTMENT SECONDARY PSAP The City of Lake Alfred has a Secondary PSAP at the Lake Alfred Police Department. Calls for Law Enforcement and Fire Services are handled by direct dispatch LAKELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Lakeland has a Primary PSAP at the Lakeland Police Department. Calls for Law Enforcement and Fire Services are handled by direct dispatch. Calls for EMS are single button transferred to the Polk County Emergency Communications Center Primary PSAP POLK COUNTY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER PRIMARY PSAP The Primary PSAP for the unincorporated area is located at the Polk County Public Safety Complex. This PSAP handles all calls placed within the jurisdictional boundaries of Polk County with the exception of those calls that originate within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Lakeland. Calls for Law Enforcement and Fire Services are handled by direct dispatch for unincorporated Polk County and every municipality with the exception of the City of Lakeland, the City of Bartow, and the City of Lake Alfred. Calls for EMS are handled by direct dispatch Countywide SYSTEM MANAGEMENT The Polk County E9-1-1 System is managed and operated by the Polk County Operations Office under the Emergency Management Division. The Board of County Commissioners is the responsible fiscal agent. Each of the Primary PSAPs are under the management of the respective Chief of Police or Sheriff INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS The Polk County E9-1-1 system has selective routing thereby eliminating all central office overlaps with adjoining counties. Therefore, there is no specific requirement for an interlocal agreement.
