AUSKICK Miranda Auskick vs. Ramsgate Tonbridge Oval The Bombers U7 Auskickers took on The Ramsgate Rams away at Tonbridge Oval on Sunday. Good performances all round from our guys against a strong opposition. The most pleasing aspect this week was the team play, you are all doing so well sharing the ball boys... keep it up. The Auskicker of the week for round 8 was James Munro. James was strong around the ball and scored some good goals... great effort James and well done to all. Thanks to Dad's John and Dave for helping out on the field and to all the other parents who where there cheering on our young fellas Congratulations to our award winners AWARD WINNERS U5 Elise Brealey U6 Harry Kempton U7 James Munro U8 Reilley Kempton U8 Mitchell Green CONGRATULATIONS! GO BOMBERS!

U9 RED Miranda U9 Red vs. Ramsgate Tonbridge Oval U9 Red recorded our second win of the season with a fantastic effort against Ramsgate, getting over the line by 3 points. Our starts have been slow this year so it ws good to get out of the blocks early and get the first couple of goals on the board. We had some lapses in concentration in the 2nd quarter and Ramsgate capitalised with 4 goals, to take the lead at half time. Our 3rd quarter was probably our best footy for the year, we kicked 4 goals in about five minutes to retake the lead, and held on in a tight last quarter. It was really pleasing to see the boys fight out the game right to the end, and we showed in this game what we are capable of. We didn't have a passenger all game, and we can really see the improvement in the boys week to week. Keiran Schydlo was on fire in the centre right from the first bounce, and continued on all game, despite getting a knock to his knee. He was our best 4 quarter player and got the Coaches weekly award. Lucas was dangerous particularly around goal, and Ethan presented well in defence and attack, with some telling marks. Kai once again got a lot of the ball, and Ben was his usual energetic self, always in the contest.harrison and Jack continued from last week and are really using their height well in marking contests, and Ryan competed well. Zane and Charlie were both fearless in their attack on the ball, and Scott was solid, especially with some saving marks in the last line of defence. We had a really good training session last week, and it flowed into the game. Hope to see you all on Friday. We are back at home to Penshurst on Sunday Go Bombers. U9 BLACK Miranda U9 Black vs. Cronulla Sharkes Green Gwawley Oval On Sunday, Miranda Black played Cronulla Green at Gwawley. In this game, we farewelled Tom Kelly, who has played for the Bombers for a number of years. We also welcomed a new player Billy Humphries. Jack Druery received the coaches award for his great work leading into space. Miranda Bombers has 5 players in the Sydney South U9 Rep Team. On Sunday of the long weekend, these players were part of the successful Sydney South team that finished up undefeated after 3 games against City East, City West and Sydney North West. All of our boys relished the chance to play footy against their peers at the rep level and a fantastic day was had by all. Well done boys!

U10 Miranda U10 vs. Ramsgate Tonbridge Oval This week we were away to Ramsgate and down on numbers with a couple of key players out this week. Ramsgate served up a small field which made the game congested but having said that we ended up with a pretty good game of footy between two evenly matched teams. Both teams applied ferocious pressure so there were no easy possessions out there with the tackling of both teams impressive. Even in the air I have not seen so many spoils. Ramsgate ultimately got the better of the match but I would be very confident that will be reversed at home on a bigger field in a few weeks. The team was captained by Aidan this week who backed up to play despite not being a 100%. He played a great captain s game, competing hard and talking a lot on the field. Our award winners this week were Liam M and Noah H. Liam had an outstanding game. Forward he kicked a nice goal but it was his efforts in defence that were the highlight. Liam took intercept marks, spoiled and tackled hard in a great performance. Noah really stepped up his game this week and was rewarded with 2 well taken goals in the second quarter. Will be great to see Noah take confidence from this performance. Noah B was also outstanding and typically was at the bottom of packs winning hard ball. Tom was also at his best with his attack on the footy and marking again a highlight. Ethan never stopped competing and used the ball well but unfortunately Ethan went off in the last quarter with an injury. Hopefully he will be ok this week. Theo continues to grow in confidence and really took the game instructions to focus on second and third efforts to heart. In one passage of play he tackled and took possession 3 times before ultimately winning a clear possession and setting up a goal. A great example to his teammates. Jobe and Liam C were a little quiet early in the game but lifted significantly when challenged to get involved. Both again proving strong in the air and using their long kicking well. Kye was energetic throughout the game and did kick a nice goal. Ben ran hard all day as usual and used the ball nicely. Sam again was strong around the clearances and continues to learn the game and up his involvement. James had a slow start but got into the game with some great clearance and tackling work with a couple of nice handballs the highlight. Levi continuously won contested footy and moved the ball forward. I will miss the next couple of rounds with Ryan O Shea taking the coaching reins and I look forward to hearing about some strong performances when I return. Go Bombers Michael

U12 Miranda U12 Div 2 vs. Ramsgate Tonbridge Oval Miranda defeated by Ramsgate The weekend s game against Ramsgate was our first in a long time with a full side and we even had a reserve (to begin with anyway). We welcomed Max to the team and welcomed back Nick but unfortunately still missing Ryan (thanks for coming along to support the team) and Sam, so good things ahead. We also had Harry for only a quarter with the last of the confirmations now complete. What an amazing performance set up by an incredible first quarter! At quarter time we lead last year s premier to and ended up winning the first half to Unfortunately we couldn t hold on but I must say that the performance, albeit not reflected by the final score, was brilliant. Tough, hard and skilful football that everyone should be very proud of! As I mentioned above we welcomed Max to the team, who plays league with Rhys and Ryan on a Saturday. A tackling machine, and fantastic effort after only a couple of training sessions. Question - Think of a guy who was recruited as a mature age rookie, twice dropped from the team, played in a premiership and captained a team. He was eventually regarded as one of the toughest and most respected midfielders in the competition. Not a big guy (184cm, 81kg) and not the best kick but ended up being a top 5 tackler in the AFL. Answer Brett Kirk (seem similar?) see you next week Max! The defensive work showed by all of the players was very good and a sign that the tackle bag at training is paying off. The defence did a great job lead by Peter and well supported by Jacob, Jet, Adrian, Jack and Harry G. All of the boys attacked the ball hard, tackled and gave their opponents no space to work in. The midfield was well serviced by some great tap ruck work from Jasper giving us regular first use of the ball. Jasper moved well up and down the ground and took marks in probably his best game of the year. Our mids Harry (1 st qtr), Seb, Max and Luke ran two way all day and competed very well against a couple of Academy players. They also gave good support to the defence as asked and in the last quarter we saw some great link play on the far wing. Although it isn t all about the forwards as we need to get it down to them, well done to Xavier who kicked 2 goals and provided some great leading and run in the forwards, Rhys who also kicked 2 goals and took a really strong pack mark for the 2 nd, Corey and Jasper who both kicked goals from marks and James provided some good support. If we maintain this level of intensity, continue to develop our skills and have more passages of play like we saw on the weekend we will do very well. Pleasingly all of the things we are focussing on at training are starting to show! Well done boys! Congratulations to Jasper for being our player of the week! Thanks again to all of the support staff on the day, most appreciated.

U14 Miranda U14 vs. Heathcote Heathcote Oval Miranda defeated by Penshurst Round 8 saw the mighty Under 14 Bombers up against Heathcote at Heathcote for the third time this season. Unfortunately we were not able to turn around the previous two losses against this team. Heathcote is the defending premiers from Division 3 of last season and they are a very good footy team. The Bombers are a good footy team and the team tried hard in each quarter and although the score board does not reflect it, the boys never gave up trying at any stage and I am proud of that. There are some lessons that we need to as a team take away from the game. We were overall out enthused for the ball and in contests at times there were multiple Bomber players going for the ball and only 1 Heathcote player and with their desire to get to the ball first, Heathcote came out on top with the ball. That is something that we should not let happen and we need to get better at that in the coming weeks. We need to have that desire to get to the ball first and we need to want it more than our opposition. Our kicking at times let us down as well. We did not hit targets and we paid the price for that. We seemed to kick it to Heathcote's best players all day and turned over the ball too may times and too cheaply. We need to give our team mates more options. Some efforts of note on the day were:- Tim Everitt - had an enormous game again off centre half back and to be quite honest saved at least 5 to 6 goals single handedly. His attack off centre half back was superb and he propelled the ball out of defence into our mid field on numerous occasions. He played himself to a stand still. Great work Tim, you have continued your good form. Josh Toohey - was my "Player of the Week" this week. Josh had a great game off the wing. His work rate is enormous in both attack and defence and his speed is electric. He gathered multiple possessions and was strong in his tackling. Josh is a first year AFL player and he has a lot of talent. Great work Josh. Zac Fraser - again played well out of the centre. Zac is a tireless worker who gains a lot of possessions. His work rate is good and he never stops battling. He adds a lot of value to the team, good work Zac. Alex Box - another first year player who has come on in leaps and bounds in his first year of AFL. He is still finding his feet in the game but he is improving each week. He is really fitting into the centre half forward/full forward role. The highlight for me was Alex's chase from a Heathcote mark or free kick, they hand passed and played on and Alex chased hard and buried the Heathcote player in the ground and won a free kick for his efforts. Great work Alex, keep up the good work. Jake Bennie - had a real captains game where he lead from the front and battled non stop out of defence. Jake is showing signs of his best form and when he does, the opposition teams had better look out. Was very solid out of defence when needed and helped repel many Heathcote attacks. Good work Jake, please keep that effort going.

Other special mentions go to Nick Hooker who has started to hit his straps and attack the ball hard. Ryan Dunkerley never stopped trying all game along with Tom Simpson who we welcomed back to the team after time out with a fractured arm. Tom had a solid first game back. Will Straker kept his good form going from the wing and mid field and he is improving each week. Steven Salom did some good things out of the backs and Kaleb Bland and Logan Stone did some good work in the forwards. Like Kendrick worked tirelessly in the ruck and competed all game. I would like to thank Aidan Selcraig for coming along to the game even though he was still sick and supporting his team mates. Good work Aidan. I want to thanks all the parents and supporters for coming along to barrack for the team. It is very much appreciated. Lyn Harvey was fantastic again as Manager of the team and Rob and Nathan Harvey did great jobs as boundary umpire and goal umpire. Stu Kensitt and Sean Parmenter were awesome as Runners and Marty Mood and Will Harrison did a great job taking water out to the team. Go the Bombers! Cheers, Chris Miranda U17 vs. Heathcote U17 Heathcote Oval Miranda defeated Heathcote Goals Hunter 5, Ryan and Tyler 2 each, Ben Lamb, Riley, Matt, Dom & Troy 1 each. Today I was more a fan than a coach as our boys displayed amazing footy skills, courage and disciplined team play. Our players were able to put into the game all the things we have been working on at training and performed many extraordinary feats resulting in a mighty win for the Miranda Bombers Football Club. This report I want to single out extraordinary feats by our players. Joels courage to run the ball and kick non-preferred into the forward line with multiple injuries. ( there seems to be no bench that can hold Joel ). Brandons mark against 2 defenders at half forward, This kid is going to play elite footy. Hunters pick up and running goal from the 50 and imposing himself on the game through the centres. 5 goals, three as ruck, outstanding. Peters countless courageous smart (take all the time you want) disposals off half back. Julians tackle deep forward to keep the ball in the area, very unlucky not to get a free kick!!!! Tylers many overhead marks and ability not to get injured ( ha ha ). Also thought we had Lewis Jetta on the wing at one stage as Tyler pounded down to full forward.

Jacks courage at contests on the wing the whole first half and his many kicks to our forwards. A new role Jack has taken on with poise and professionalism. Rileys mark and set shot for goal. Absolute text book highest point marking and protection of the space then a true kick from 40. Harrys very nearly screamer deep back and courage, courage, courage in contests all game. Liams mark with the sun in his eyes and his one handed pickups. One word, CLASS!!! Ben Fullers interception marks across half back and pressure to put his opponent off a kick and boot it out of bounds on the full. Zack and Ben Challens possessions and kicks relieving the centres. Great to see players developing different roles in their games. Ben Lambs many contested marks and smart disposals. His captaincy was superb today running the centres and staying focused on keeping the ball in the forward line by marshalling the groups to build the wall. Sebs centre work in the last quarter and fine ground work presenting and getting the ball off to his runners at CHF. How about Troys first goal in AFL footy? Roved the pack like a pro and put one through inside right foot. The boys gathered round to congratulate, Brandon even running all the way from half back to pat his mate on the back. Oh yeah and there was that tackle. Troys rugby league background is a real asset to the team. Lachlan so hard at the footy and contests he received a blood nose but also his defensive work on a dangerous winger awesome. Matts defence up forward to lock the ball in and run to free himself up bamboozling his opponents. Doms run and carry multiple times. He was incredibly unselfish today constantly creating give and go opportunities and a major reason we had the ball forward for so much of the match. Ryans dominance at the ruck contests. One in particular when he punched the ball straight to Ben at CHF. NB Both our ruck men were praised for their games by our opposing coach after the game, well done Ryan and Hunter. I think Brandon, Ben Lamb, Seb and Ben Fuller also took a fair share of contests around the ground too so well done all. Goals, Hunter 5, Ryan 2, Tyler 2, singles to Ben Lamb, Riley, Matt, Dom and Troy. Thanks to David making it along to the game to watch and Paddy running for us. Its great to have injured players involved and we look forward to you both donning the Dons colours again soon. Hopefully for us Josh gets better soon as well. Thanks to Chook running water even with a torn calf, Michael for boundary umpiring and Chris in goals. Also thanks to our supporters, the boys love to entertain and I felt they put on a great display today for their fans. As a post note I received an from the St George Under 19 s coach through the week congratulating the boys on their skills and style of play from our last game. Apparently the boys are making fans outside of our bombers friends and families. Go Bombers Cam
