The other Bray continues to submit his interesting report with the usual photo compilation. Dick Mannings MGF Tech night was well attended and the assembly of an MGF engine was particularly interesting, when the components are compared with those from an MGB engine it s plain to see the advancements in engineering that have taken place since the s etc; As a committed motorsport competitor I am thrilled to be a part of the forthcoming MG Club Challenge particularly the Sprint at the new Tailem Bend race track, we may need a lot of volunteers for this event so your assistance would be appreciated. 8 MG Car Club of South Australia PRESIDENTS REPORT From...Adrian Ward Hi Members and Friends National Meeting T he National Meeting was centred around Ulverstone,Tasmania with many Club Members receiving awards, lets hope they, along with their Medals can all join us at the May Meeting. I am sure those of us who attended had a wonderful time, I know Rosa and I did, despite a troublesome starter motor, which was not nearly as frustrating as Murray Stevenson's MGA overheating, caused by either a cracked head or blown head gasket. Poor Dietmar Sauer, having had his MGB in the workshop for many hours, for a top to bottom, front to back checkover had his drive to Ballarat come to a sudden halt. As you can imagine it was very unsettling for Dietmar and Wendy, but were rescued by R.A.A. (really awesome Alan) Alan Cardnell finding the fault - a loose wire!! Rosa and I were fortunate to have the support of a great bunch of members on our trip over as well as our trip back and we are most grateful for all your support and offers of help. Our May monthly meeting will feature the National Meeting and who knows, perhaps a rendition of our "Kimber Country Garden Song". MG.F and Z Register I hope that if you are a "F" owner that you attended the first Register Meeting and an engine assembly demo by Dick Manning. Shannons Nationals at the Bend Murray has been hard at work putting a display of MG Cub cars together. Thank you to those who participated. Don't Forget Items The MSCA Regularity Super Sprint will be held on May 6th. Registrations open for the "Clare Weekender" April 16th. Hoping to see you soon in your MG at a Club Function. 10 MG Car Club of South Australia MGC NEWS MGC conversations with Richard Mixture, May 2018 H Smile You re in the Movies ello again, it s Richard here and I ve been watching a couple of films lately. Mrs Mixture popped down to the local library and brought back several books and a basket full of CDs. I find it a little mind boggling that someone can think that they can read all those books and watch all those movies within a couple of weeks. Anyway I know I don t watch all of them and I have no idea what she does when I nip down to the local for a pint of Old Speckled Hen. Sitting back in the old wing back with a cup of English Breakfast I start thinking about some of the iconic cars that have featured in TV programs or in the Movies. The first car that jumps into my mind is the DB5 that James drives in Goldfinger, yes that s the same model that Bazz picked up in the UK for 2/6 pence back in the olden days. I always remember the Avengers on the telly in the 60s and I just wanted to be like that bowler hatted Stead driving around in a vintage 3 litre Bentley. I always liked them until I help an owner change a wheel one day. I had to be like the Incredible Hulk to lift the damn thing. It was certainly heavier than a Mini wheel! I never fancied General Lee, the orange 69 Dodge Charger that those Duke boys used to drive around and around whatever tree it was. Nor did I care for the yellow Chevrolet C-2500, Crew Cab Silverado, in Kill Bill called the Pussy Wagon. I thought the film was about a vet. The 68 Mustang GT 390 in Bullitt that Steve McQueen drove was pretty good though. He tried his darndest to shred those narrow tyres. But what about our favourite MG the C? Did it appear in any movies or TV shows? Have you heard of Mannix, or Tatort Kressin stoppt den Nordexpress, or The Bank Job or Die Screaming, Marianne or Vild på sex? The last movie translates to Wild On... ahem, Oh my goodness in Australia this 1974 Swedish film was called Confessions of Sweet Sixteen. A primrose C roadster features near the beginning and the end of the film but I had to watch it all the way through just in case I missed something and I didn t miss a thing! It takes be back to my teenage years when I went to some of those works buck s nights. Have you seen these films La moglie del prete, Big Zapper, Chérif or Prudence and the Pill? You may have seen these telly programs Callan, Dalziel and Pascoe, Hawaii Five-O, and Division 4, in black and white, that also had a short scene with a parked MGC GT. Sadly the C features in the background of most of these films/tv programmes, so no cameos here. Series 6, Episode 16 of that 1960s series, the Avengers was probably the best programme featuring a white MGC roadster driven by Lady Diana Forbes- Blakeney. For only one episode Lady Diana filled in for Tara King who was Steed s side kick during the series. All models of MG feature in hundreds of movies and TV series but the MGC only presents itself about 20 times on the screen and mainly in the background as the main character drives past a parked C. 8

I have it on good authority that the Tuesday coffee run group was overheard discussing their medical problems recently. 'Do you realise,' said one, 'My arm is so weak I can hardly hold this coffee cup.' 'Yes, I know.' replied the second, 'My cataracts are so bad I can hardly see my coffee cup.' 'I can't turn my head,' joined in the third, 'because of the arthritis in my neck.' 'My blood pressure pills make me dizzy,' commented the fourth, adding, 'I guess that's the price we pay for getting old.' 'Well, it's not all bad.' piped up the first, 'We should be thankful that we can still drive.' Automnal Run May 2018 Now MGCers et al, it's about time to go on another MGC run, put Saturday 5 th May in your diary and we'll meet at 1.30pm at Beaumont Road, Adelaide, just off of Greenhill Road. Remember ladies and gentlemen keep em tuned, Rich The Avengers, Lady Diana Forbes-Blakeney driving her C roadster The Swedish film Confessions of Sweet Sixteen 9

MG Car Club of South Australia MID WEEK LUNCH RUN NEWS From..Diane Holmes Thursday 10 April, W hat a lovely surprise to find the weather was favourable for the MGs to take part in the run this month. We repeated a route, which we had taken in May 2012 starting from Crafers & driving via Sturt Valley Rd. to Cherry Gardens and turning north onto Main Rd, thru Coromandel Valley to arrive at our destination at Blackwood. Another first time visit to the Montagna Café, which Jenni & Darryl had recommended to us. David & I joined them there one morning for coffee so we could meet the owner, who was most obliging & willing to cater for us. We were given a space to ourselves in an enclosed verandah where we could relax & enjoy the friendly faces & efficient service from the staff. Not often do we have such a wide variety of delicious food choices at reasonable prices & this was very much appreciated by our group from the many enthusiastic comments we received on the day. Need I say we look forward to visiting there again. Graham Loader took the opportunity to bring his magnificent Mustang along on the run he checked with me first about parking, but that had been taken care of by the café owner, who had made arrangements for us to use the Uniting Church car park across the road. Thanks to all the members, who came along on this very pleasant day. Next mid week lunch run will be on 10 May, 2018 to The Clubhouse in Tanunda meeting at The Gully Hotel at Tea Tree Gully at 10.30am and departing at 11.30am. If you would like to come please remember to book as we need to confirm numbers for the venues. Diane & David Holmes - djdrholmes@gmail.com 12

MG Car Club of South Australia BREAKFAST RUN REPORT From..Steve Spong, T Breakfast Run to Goolwa Beach 25 March 2018 he weather gradually improved as we drove south on our annual run to Goolwa Beach and to Don Walker's place. This is always a great opportunity to catch up on Don's latest project, and this year he did not disappoint. Having recently sold his lovely TC, Don had bought a 2.3 litre, 1936 MG SA Tickford Drophead "Foursome" no-less. The car is one of only 4 or 5 in the Country and came from Gosford, and to say the least is in need of some slight renovation. So Don is undertaking a ground-up restoration and we will be very keen to monitor his progress. A first timer on the day was local Rob Gordon in his very smart TF. We also met Wayne Spenser who was on a short trip back from the UK, where he is an engineer with Red Bull and in fact works on their RB14 F1 car! So thanks to all who came, and especially to Don with assistance from Jeanette and Campbell the dog, for their warm welcome and hospitality. 22 MG Car Club of South Australia MG National Meeting Ulverstone, Tasmania From..Chris & Wes Bray T he 2018 National Meeting was held in Tasmania during Easter. Getting to Melbourne In order to get to Tasmania, the South Australian delegation had to drive to Melbourne. Some decided to tow their MG s but most drove. There was very little drama reported apart from a one kilometre piece of road just before Horsham. Roadworks and the presence of heavy rain had turned the driving surface into mud, some of which hitched a ride on the cars. Once in Melbourne everyone found Station Pier with a minimum of fuss and loaded their cars onto the Spirit of Tasmania. Some decided to have a daylight crossing of Bass Strait, others booked a cabin for a night crossing. Most found their cars were parked on level 1 or level 2 of the Spirit of Tasmania. There was much discussion about how you disembark from this position without following the instruction Do not over rev your engines. Settling into Ulverstone 20 Most of the South Australians decided to stay at Willaway Apartments in Ulverstone. This was a pleasant twentyminute drive from the ferry terminal at Devonport. Some decided to go touring before the National Meeting and arrived at Ulverstone after their sight-seeing. Murray Stephenson arrived with his car on a trailer having experienced engine difficulties during the trip from Adelaide. A Victorian MG owner kindly provided assistance. Karen Stephenson and Ian Curwen-Walker took the fast route, flying ADL-MEL-Launceston and hiring a car for the weekend (a good move considering Murray s car problems). Good Friday Registration Registration was held at the Ulverstone Sports Centre. This was easy to find. We were told to drive to the main bridge across the River Leven and look on your right for a large building. These instructions worked. As tends to be common at National Meetings there was a lot of noise as friendships from previous National Meetings were renewed. There were long

May 2018 queues, another unfortunate feature of registration at National Meetings. The Tasmanians provided hot cross buns to those waiting in line. Eventually everyone was able to return to their accommodation with name tags, car stickers, programme booklets and a stack of tourist information. For those who wanted a shiny car for Concours it was then a case of out with the elbow grease, not to mention car polish and window cleaner. Good Friday Noggin & Natter and Rocker Cover Racing Friday night we returned to the Sports Centre for the Noggin & Natter and Rocker Cover Racing. Upon arrival we spent time examining tables loaded with local Tasmanian produce. There was plenty to eat, it was a case of fill up your plate and find a seat at a table. Later in the night desert was served, the homemade ice cream being a highlight. 21 After the welcomes from the Tasmanian Centre and the Mayor of the local council there was a lot of noise as all in attendance continued the process of renewing friendships and making new friends. The rocker Cover Racing commenced after about an hour. There was a large field and most of the spectators sat in a grandstand normally used by spectators at a basketball game. There were mixed results for the South Australians. Heather Bennett was unsuccessful in her attempt to win back to back titles. The last South Australian eliminated from competition was Geoff Glasson. Easter Saturday Concours Bright and early Saturday morning approximately 180 MG s were parked on Anzac Park. This park, as the name suggests a memorial to Australian service men and women, is located on the banks of the River Leven. The cars were arranged in classes, finding your position was quick and easy as there were plenty of marshals to help you find the correct spot. After the judges were given a briefing and a yellow hat, they converged on their allocated class. Eventually they completed their observations and discussions and returned the judging sheets to the results tent. Chris and Wes Bray had a couple of hours of hard work checking addition and inputting data into the computer system. A big

MG Car Club of South Australia thank you to all who volunteered for the thankless job of being a judge, While the judging was taking place some of the female members of the South Australian contingent went to a High Tea. The food was enjoyed and a good time was had by all. Shortly after 2:00 pm the first placed cars in each class were called up into line along the river. Jason Edwards was the only South Australian fortunate enough to have his name called out. 22 SA CONCOURS RESULTS Name Car Type Place JASON EDWARDS 1955 MG TF 1 JASON EDWARDS 1952 MG TD 1 WES BRAY 1964 MG KEVIN WATTERS 1970 MGB Mk II 2 ALAN CARDNELL 1978 MGB 3 DIETMAR SAUER 1968 MGB R/STER 3 STEPHEN SPONG 1969 MGBGT 3 MURRAY STEPHENSON 1960 MGA NEIL WILLIAMS 2003 MGZT 3 However, there were a large number of other South Australians who had managed to receive minor awards. Saturday night was free. Some people used the barbeque facilities at Willaway, others went to a local restaurant.

Easter Sunday Hill Climb For some of the participants in the Hill Climb it was an early morning start. This was due to the fact that the drive from Ulverstone to the Highclere Hill Climb took approximately 45 minutes and drivers were required to arrive at the pits at 7:00 am. This was made a little easier by the fact that daylight saving stopped, so we all got an extra hour in bed. The Highclere Hill Climb is on part of a public road (Oonah Road) and is a 1.02 km long. Marshals were placed at each end of the climb to make certain that the general public were kept off of the road during runs. It is a steep climb with a gradient of 9.5:1. The event was run in a professional manner by members of the North West Car Club. Drivers in the morning group were welcomed by a damp track and the first car up the track, driven by Tim Edmonds, found that conditions were slippery. The slippery conditions eased as the morning progressed and the third and fourth runs were conducted on a dry track. In the afternoon the reverse applied. The first two runs were conducted on a dry track and then misty rain caused a return to the slippery conditions. The majority of the cars in the afternoon SA HILLCLIMB RESULTS Name Car Type Place WES BRAY 1964 MG TIM EDMONDS 1974 MGBGT V8 JASON EDWARDS 1952 MG TD 2 ALAN CARDNELL 1978 MGB 3 FAYE EDWARDS 1952 MG TD 3 BEVERLEY WATERS 1973 MGBGTV May 2018 group decided not to do all four runs as a result of the conditions. No South Australians were able to gain a first place in the event. However, we were successful in gaining a couple of minor placings. Easter Sunday Observation Run Drivers who did not wish to enter the Hill Climb were able to enter the Observation Run. There were two types of entries, competition, where participants who did well could get trophies, and social, where driver and navigator aimed not to get lost and enjoy the scenery. While travelling questions needed to be answered such as How old is the Baptist Tabernacle? or A must in Grandma s Sewing Kit? The run took the cars along a combination of highways and country roads in the Mersey Valley Region and concluded at Mole Creek. The run was 104 kilometres long with opportunity for a morning tea break at Latrobe along the way. The run concluded approximately one hour away from Ulverstone with lunch provided. South Australia had only one competitive entry which did not win a medal. All who went on the run came back talking about the magnificent scenery. Easter Sunday Kimber House Garden Party Sunday night we all returned to the Sports Centre. There was a buzz of conversation as all talked about the days activities. The theme of the dinner was Kimber House Garden Party. Most clubs went to a big effort to dress up according to the theme by wearing dress which could have been worn to a garden party. One of the clubs dressed as characters from the mad hatter s tea party and then there was one club, which modesty prevents me from naming, where everyone was dressed as

MG Car Club of South Australia fairies or gnomes. We certainly stood out in the crowd as we entered singing a song to the tune of English Country Garden. The meal was a buffet and the caterers had some difficulty keeping up the supply of food. Eventually everyone was well fed. Medals were handed out to the Concours winners and place getters and then the discussion started along the lines of Why didn t I win? or What were the judges thinking? For one South Australian the reason for not getting a medal was obvious, he had a large crack in his windscreen. Without it Neil Williams would have gained higher honours in his class. Easter Monday Motorkhana Monday was motorkhana day. The event was held at the Penguin Sports precinct, a short drive down the Bass Highway from Ulverstone. The site was not ideal, two courses were far from flat and there was limited clearance between some flags and the concrete kerbing. The Tasmanians assured us that this was the best site available in the region. Three courses were used, Multiple Loop, Modified Historic Slalom and Pine Tree. As far as Motorkhana courses go they are relatively simple but this did not prevent a large number of wrong direction penalties. There were also many flags hit, with appropriate penalties added when the flag falling was due to the cars. Mother nature came a distant last in the competition as fierce winds kept blowing the flags over. The noise of cars racing around flags attracted a large crowd of locals who enjoyed watching the antics. All entrants who started managed to complete six runs, rather unusual at a National Meeting Motorkhana. 24 Arguably this was the most successful competition event for the South Australians. There were a number of first placings and a surprised look on Karen Stephenson s face as her name was read out as a minor place getter at the Presentation Dinner. The run started in Ulverstone and concluded at Cradle Mountain for lunch. Along the way cars stopped in Sheffield where there was an opportunity to admire a large number of murals. There were a number of alternate routes suggested for the return drive, the recommended one being through Wilmot and Forth. Following a decision at the 2017 Delegates Meeting, each car which went on the run was awarded one point towards the Wratten Trophy for their club. Thank you to the South Australians on the run as you allowed us to get 9 points, equivalent to a first place in the Motorkhana. Easter Monday Presentation Dinner After the Motorkhana and Kimber Run it 2 2 3

was time to dress up in our best clothes and gather once again at the Ulverstone Sports Centre. As everyone arrived there was one major surprise, Chris and Wes Bray, the results officials, managed to arrive before the first course was served as their job was complete. Dinner was a three-course meal with a tasty entrée, a choice of fish or beef for the main and a choice of deserts. Table service meant that you did not have to join long queues at the buffet. Medals were presented for the Hill Climb, the Observation Run and the Motorkhana. To conclude the evening outright and perpetual trophy winners received their spoils. Special mention must be made of Wayne Kirwan (Queensland) who won three perpetual trophies (New Zealand Plate, Golden Gudgeon and Cecil Kimber) for the second consecutive year. Tuesday Farewell Breakfast and Delegates Meeting Tuesday morning for most was spent packing the cars ready to continue their journeys through Tasmania or travel down the highway to Devonport to catch the evening ferry. After this there was a drive to a packed car park at Pier01 for a sumptuous breakfast. Once again there was a great deal of noisy chatter as people talked about the weekend, part of the conversation usually being Are you going to Queensland next year? Tim Edmonds, Bev Waters and Wes Bray then returned to the Ulverstone Sports Centre for the Delegates Meeting where the weekend was reviewed, changes to rules were discussed and a timetable for future National Meetings was planned. It was decided that the MG National Meeting celebrating the centenary of the building of the first MG will be held in Trophy Outright Pre MGA Concours Magazine Trophy Web site Trophy May 2018 Winner Jason Edwards Victoria Gold Coast Nuffield Trophy Tasmania 14 points (South Australia 7 th 4.05 points) Wratten Trophy Victoria points (South Australia 6 th points) 25

MG Car Club of South Australia PRE-WAR & T - REGISTER From..John Bray T Register meeting 5 April 2018 The Garage Down Under, Hawthorndene. here was no gold rush this month to the down under garage at the home of David and Joy Pearson who were just marvellous hosts to the Register troop, but it could have been something else that attracted a very good number into the lower level car barn with lots of Anthony Pearson s loot and goodies lying about. Opportune that he and Wenona were away on holiday in India at the time. There has to be something magical in sniffing around MG parts and memorabilia in members garages, it certainly sets the scene for talking shop and general business about nothing really. Oil and grease on your hands accounts for very little but a nuisance usually, however the smell of it in the garage creates an atmosphere akin to getting high on gasoline, judging by the enthusiastic conversations that night where 43 signed in and 14 Register vehicles filled the front driveways. Thankyou, to David and Joy for the generous hospitality, we are very lucky to have marvellous people like them in our car club, it was a superb night. Apologies were numerous given that several of the usual standouts were at the National Meeting for MG in Australia, held in Tasmania this year. Messers; TD McNabb, Peter Wallace, Simon Ewart, Chris & Heather Bennett, Geoff & Anne McLean, Bob & Shelley Bazzica, Baldrick & Geraldine Hough, Peter Cundy (still looking for parts, Turkey this time), AC Pearson.com (Indian curry munching), Mike Greenwood & Jan, 30 Ronnie Jellet, David Herbert, Tickford Twins Peter & Don. Visitors : Welcomed persons included the new Secretary of Registers Ken Burke, Robert Varcoe (MGA) Suzanne Bray, and Suzette Cook. Ken Burke is the club s secretary of the Registers in the club and it was his first visit to keep an eye on us and the goings on maybe? Seriously though he made some good suggestions in collating the vast amount of information on the cars associated with the Prewar & T Type register. Returning member: Great to see Michael Lyons back from pretty serious illness, still has that perky spark about him, takes no prisoners if he catches you out! Ronnie Jellet from Murray Bridge is on the mend we are told by Goldy, hope to see him soon. Congratulations. Firstly to King Arthur for his Club Member of the Year Award and secondly to Bob Schapel, Irving Cup winner 2017/2018, both richly deserved and great club members. Craig Fergusson, TC 8755, cream body, red trim. Craig has been in PNG at Pt Moresby for some years and returned for Easter to see his family and run the TC which has been tucked away in the shed with only the electronic techno battery charger for company. Well guess what, it started first go, bloody ripper! Craig picked me up in the TC for a coffee which ended at the Hyde Park tavern for a couple of Stella Artois across the bar and a quick trip back. Good to see him again, it took 10 years for him to restore the car which got really good publicity after a Bay to

Birdwood run some years ago. Unfortunately he could not make the Register meeting but he will be back he says. The Ghost who Walks: Guess who, Don Walker has done it again, an apology for the meeting essentially because he is falling over cars at Goolwa Beach. The SA is progressing beautifully, the Wizard of Qz, Ray Finch is working miracles on the body work. Smooth talking Don, collected another TC in bits from a dear lady who dismantled it for her grandson probably, then he scores a good looking YA Saloon 1950 model at an attractive price with shopper dockets, how else? Congratulations Don, I am finding it hard to keep up with you filling in the Register book. Forthy: Well he is coming, then not coming, however he managed to squeeze out of grandparenting duties to get there, that is dedication. He s looking for 19 inch x 450 tyres to put on a 1920 s Fiat in somebody s shed, can anyone help? Dean Hosking: Missed the Nat Meet in Tas, missed an extended holiday with the bride all due to a detatched retina of the eye. It is coming good just a bit of a blurr he says, really bad luck Dean. Buckley : Seems to be agitating for another register subset, The Overhead Cammers. Just because he is rubbing shoulders with the TripleM Prewar set now that he has the J2, I would have thought that he would be cautious of the Push Rodders who outnumber him considerably. Just saying, cannot divulge my source. Legend #1. Yes Laurie Foody again, nearly did not make it to the meeting, flat battery despite the homemade GMH charger. Good news, he can walk to West Beach meeting next month and save Arthur the worry. May 2018 Briefly : Gordon Koch s TC at Nuriootpa has not sold despite offers, it is a great car. Doc Dallwitz is looking for some pavers, 15 sq metres. It was suggested that as he lives close to King William Rd, he might find some there, helpful advice. The Register book is decidedly unhealthy and needs an overhaul, several of you will be asked to update the data on your cars. Russell Garth is lending a hand researching the several data sheets on Prewar & T Series cars now that he is retired and has time to attend the MG Coffee club at Joan s Pantry on Fridays. Meetings : Next month s meeting is at Bob & Shelly Bazzica s on 3 May at 31 Northern Ave West Beach, to celebrate the completion of the KN 0386 which he took to Tasmania for the Nat Meet. I am looking forward to it as for years we have seen it in fairly ordinary condition in the annex that he calls a workshop. A night not to be missed, might have to order in KNC to celebrate. ( Kentucky Nuggets & Chips ) Cheers to all, remember Safety Farts, old MG motto. John Bray, BOTR 31

MG Car Club of South Australia MGF REGISTER EVENT From..Peter Coulson A F-Register meeting 13 Apr 2018 at the club rooms, hosted by the F-Register co-ordinator, Dick Manning. cool and wet night greeted the 22 keen members attending the 'rebooted' F-Register. It was good to see members that have a MGF/TF, and Z series cars get together. Dick gave the assembled group a run down on activities being planned for the F-Register in the coming months. Get your spare car parts together and come along to the Mini Swap meet being held on June 15 at the club rooms. If you are interested in coming and selling some 'bits', let Dick know. Later in the year a run is being planned. The run will be in 3 parts. A run from a start point to a destination At the destination a meal will be partaken at a pub or such like place 34 A run from the 'pub' back to the club rooms This run will allow members to do each part as the wish, ie: just do the run, just come along for a meal, and/or do the run the club rooms. Dick will be ing out more info, and look at the web site and in the magazine for more info. This particular meeting's theme was Dick Manning demonstrating building an MGF motor from parts. He was able to assemble the sump, block, head, cams to resemble a built motor. (see pic) Quite impressive! There was lot's of discussion around the motor's of the F & Z series cars, each with their characteristics and foibles. Other 'fault' finding queries were raised and answered with great knowledge. Thanks to Dick for organising and doing the motor build demo. Peter Coulson

MG Car Club of South Australia An outing in the fascinating Fleurieu Peninsula in the warmth of Winter Sunday July Why not come along on a journey of discovery and enjoy a day in Strathalbyn and Langhorne Creek. We begin at 11.00AM at the beautiful and very old Gasworks Cottages. This building was established in 1867 to supply the town with street lighting, heating and coal. One of the oldest stone buildings in Strathalbyn and it played a vital role to the local community in its day. We will be served a Devonshire Tea then given an interesting insight into the former life of the Gasworks. A beautiful garden surrounds the property, which sits on the banks of the Angus River Strathalbyn was the first town in South Australia to be settled by the Scots Did you know that the word STRATH means A broad flat river in Scottish language? After our time here we then motor on in our marvellous MG s to visit Langhorne Creek, where we will be partaking Lunch at another well-known old establishment called Angus Plains Winery and Cellar Door. Lunch time is at 1.00PM Both venues offer good parking and lovely Bed & Breakfast accommodation. So, why not make an overnight stay, or perhaps a wanderous week-end of it. The ceiling is 30 people only, so as usual, it is first in, best dressed, with a $10 pp deposit to secure your place. Prices and maps to follow shortly.
