3 Editor s Report This is the second magazine on it s way. Thank you to those who sent in results. We were hoping to have a paragraph from the Come and Try Day so I put something together. We enjoyed ourselves out there. The next one is Sunday 8th May (Mother s Day). A Director is needed for this event. Please let me know ASAP so I can put the paperwork in. Remember: Club membership is now due. By the list Stumpy has, we have about a dozen financial members. North Queensland Khanacross Series gets under way Labour Day Weekend at Proserpine. I m going. Then a fortnight later is Wowan Rally - it s good to hear a few cars from here are going. The Rocky boys will be happy to have some competition. They are keen to do Ingham. I now have the terratrip so Cardwell is the next rally in June. Until next time Heckler

6 COME AND TRY DAY CHARTERS TOWERS We packed the car club ute with all the gear you need except the kitchen sink and the toilet paper. We got the portable dunny and had to drive no more than 50kph through Charters Towers to get the track. The track looked good with a few saplings and grass tufts. That ll hold well. The Hickeys arrived in their 2 cars the red mazda and the black skyline all ready for Wowan. We set up camp and talked the normal dribble. Ash arrives with his kids in tow, borrows Hickeys trailer and comes back with his carton of beer pulsar. He discovers it has a flat front wheel and hastily takes it off to fix at home. Soon it was lunch time. Subway for lunch when Brucie arrives with his starion ready for a test run. Then Paul with his Mitsubishi. About 4 o clock we pack up camp and head back to the Big 4 for a swim in the cool water. At 6.30 we meet at the Enterprise for a very filling meal and an early night. One team went to the Drive-in to relive old memories and to create a memory. Up and ready to go. At eight Leon was wondering where we were. Leon had bought a cheap Subaru from Bowen and was ready to try it out on the khanacross track. He brought his mate Josh. Ash came back with the tyre and brought his mate Lance. Loclin arrived ready for a play in the Hickey s cars. All ready to start. After a driver s briefing and some rules for the new ones, test one is on the way. The Wasleys arrive with Ruff and Tuff. Soon the saplings are gone and so is the grass. After test 5, Paul and Brooke were out with overheating engine and Leif had a knock in the rear somewhere. We had fun in the dust and dirt. There were the competitive ones - checking the times and egging each other on. Ask Jenna about the number of bollards she hit in one test. Loclin soon got the hang of things but preferred the air conditioned skyline to the open windowed mazda. You could soon pick out the competitors who had windows and who didn t. After 7 test, it was lunch time. Hot dogs thanks to Brucie for cooking them. Khanacross time. A quick look lap and then off we went. Two laps of the track and some had extra laps like Leon and Loclin. A successful time had by all. Ash wanted to know when we were coming back. Loclin was going home to make his own track. (We ll have to keep an eye on him.) Leon was keen to go racing again. The test run for Wowan for Hickeys and Brucie worked well as they both went home to work on their cars. Thanks to all helpers on the day. And also to Leif, Wade, Wendy, Greg H, Brett, Goof, Kay and Heckler who worked hard at the working bee. A BIG thanks to Leif who has been able to drag the track and pad prior to the event. Thanks for forwarding on these times, We had a great time. The front wheel drive Pulsar did much better than expected. Lance.

Last year saw drivers compete in four events from Cairns to the Whitsundays for the chance to win the 2015 championship plus compete in their set class standings. This year will again consist of 4 rounds from the Whitsundays to Mossman!
