WORTH OUTRIGHTED TO TRIPLE A TOLEDO: The Tigers today have outrighted the contract of infielder Danny Worth to Triple A Toledo. TIGERS SELECT HILL, TURNBULL ON FIRST NIGHT OF MLB DRAFT: The Tigers made two selections last night during the first two rounds of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The club selected outfielder Derek Hill from Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, Calif., with the 23rd overall pick in the first round. Hill, who was rated by Baseball America as the sixth-best outfield prospect available in this year s draft, hit.500 (47x94) with 26 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven triples, 30 RBI and 29 stolen bases as a senior. The Tigers selected righthanded pitcher Spencer Turnbull from the University of Alabama with the 63rd overall selection in the second round. Turnbull started 15 games for the Crimson Tide in 2014 and posted a 5-7 record with a 2.22 ERA (93.1IP/23ER) and 61 strikeouts. The 2014 MLB Draft continues today with rounds 3-10, while rounds will be held tomorrow. MOYA, NESBITT EARN MINOR LEAGUE HONORS FOR MAY: Steven Moya and Angel Nesbitt have been selected the Tigers Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for May. Moya hit.311 (38x122) with 20 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 27 RBI for Double A Erie in May. Nesbitt pitched in 13 games with Single A Lakeland during the month and was a perfect 10x10 in save opportunities with a 0.55 ERA (16.1IP/1ER) and 15 strikeouts. Nesbitt allowed just nine hits during the month, holding opponents to a.161 batting average. STAYING ON TOP OF THE CENTRAL: The Tigers enter tonight s game having held at least a share of the lead in the American League Central Division every day this season. It marks the first time since 1984 the Tigers have held at least a share of the lead in the division every day this far into the season. HUNTER ON THE MARK VS.
