MLB will conduct a moment of silence before all games throughout the weekend and all games on Monday will pause at 3 p.m. (local time) for a moment of silence. For games on Memorial Day, MLB clubs will wear special caps and jerseys. All of MLB s net proceeds from the sale of those caps and jerseys will be donated to the Welcome Back Veterans program, which provides grants to university hospitals throughout the country to treat veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injury. MLB has committed $30 million to Welcome Back Veterans. Detroit Tigers at Oakland Athletics Monday, O.co Coliseum, Oakland, CA Game Time - 4:05 p.m. EDT RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers concluded their seven-game homestand with a 10-8 loss to the Astros on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park. Miguel Cabrera hit his 11th home run of the season and went 2x5 in the loss, while Nick Castellanos, Yoenis Cespedes, Anthony Gose and J.D. Martinez each contributed two hits. Bryan Holaday had three RBI and went 1x3 with a double. Alex Wilson took the loss in relief for Detroit, giving up two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in 0.2 innings. The Tigers open a seven-game road trip this afternoon as they begin a three-game series vs. Oakland. Following the series vs. the Athletics, the Tigers remain on the road for a four-game set vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. LOBSTEIN PLACED ON DL, MACHADO RECALLED: The Tigers announced on Sunday that they have placed lefthanded pitcher Kyle Lobstein on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left shoulder. Prior to Sunday s game, the Tigers recalled the contract of infielder Dixon Machado from Triple A Toledo. In 40 games this season with the Mud Hens, Machado hit.274 (43x157) with 19 runs scored, six doubles, one home run and 16 RBI. The Tigers also announced on Sunday that righthanded pitcher Buck Farmer will start Thursday s game vs. the Angels. MIGGY EXTENDS HITTING STREAK TO 12 GAMES: Miguel Cabrera improved his hitting streak to 12 games as he was 2x5 with two walks, one double, a home run and a RBI in yesterday s game. Over his 12-game streak, Cabrera is hitting.419 (19x46) with 10 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, five home runs and 11 RBI. Cabrera s hitting streak is the longest by a Tigers player this season and is the second-longest active hitting streak in the American League. CABRERA MOVING UP THE MLB, TIGERS HOME RUN LIST: Miguel Cabrera hit his 11th home run of the season in yesterday s loss. The home run was also Cabrera s 263rd as a member of the Tigers, breaking a tie with Willie Horton for sole possession of fourth place in franchise history. Cabrera has a total of 401 home runs in his major league career, which ranks 52nd in MLB history. He s six home runs away from tying Duke Snider for 51st in major league history with 407 home runs. GOLDEN GOSE: Anthony Gose had a pair of hits, including a double, and a RBI in yesterday s game. Gose recorded his 14th multi-hit game of the season, which ranks tied for 13th in the American League. Gose has hit safely in 14 of his last 21 games and is batting.345 (29x84) with 11 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and six RBI during the stretch. CESPEDES RETURNS TO OAKLAND: Today s game marks the first game for Yoenis Cespedes in Oakland since he was traded by the Athletics to the Boston Red Sox on July 31, Cespedes was traded to the Tigers from Boston on December 11, Cespedes played in 365 games with Oakland, hitting.262 (371x1415) with 206 runs scored, 72 doubles, 12 triples, 66 home runs and 229 RBI.
