Meadow Drive Indianapolis, IN Telephone: plamott@nativityindy.org Mrs. Minton s and Mrs. Freudenstein s Kindergarten classes choose to Stick with Kindness in the way they treat everyone. Their Lenten goal is to put God first. They decided a good way to show their love for God is to treat every single person they encounter with kindness. Inside their booklet they wrote ways they can show their love. Accelerated Reader News
2 Page 2 More Stick with Kindness (Right) On each link in the chain above a Nativity student wrote his or her plans to incorporate the Big Rocks of Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving into their lives during this Lenten season. Thank you Mrs. Skirvin for this beautiful display! I-STEP Testing Begins Monday Parents of 3 rd through 8 th grade students please make sure your students are well-rested and eat a good breakfast next week! Please do not schedule appointments during the testing window, if possible. I-STEP testing is scheduled for Monday, February 26 th through Friday, March 2 nd. Make-up tests will be given the week of March 5 th - 9 th. Additionally, third grade students will be tested with I-READ the week of March 12 th -16 th. Breakfast is a good thing! When students need to take achievement tests, schools strongly urge them to eat breakfast first on testing days. Why? Because we know that when students eat breakfast, they perform better and are better able to concentrate. Yet on normal days, many students fail to eat breakfast; they re too busy, too tired, or just don t know what to eat. Let s help students to perform better every day, by making sure they eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school. Breakfast is available every day from 7 to 8 a.m. in the gym. Quest for Excellence Some of our best students in grades 7 th and 8 th grades will represent Nativity tomorrow at Roncalli s Quest for Excellence. Do your best! We are proud of you!
3 Page 3 Accelerated Reader News Congratulations to Maurah Spicer for becoming a reader leader by reading over 100,000 words! She enjoyed a lunch with Ms. Bianchini. Also, congratulations to Madeline Daming for reading over 6 million words, Samantha Durm for reading over 3 million words, and Michael Dexter and Maggie Smith for reading over 2 million words! We are proud of all our Reader Leaders! To become a Reader Leader, students in grades 3-8 need to read over 1 million words, tracked by Accelerated Reader. Our younger students need to read over 10,000 words in Kindergarten, over 50,000 words in 1 st grade, and over 100,000 words in 2 nd grade to become Reader Leaders. Please visit to see how many words your child has read this school year. If you need assistance, please contact Mrs. Geisendorff at jgeisendorff@nativityindy.org. The Leader In Me Thought for the Week: The key is not to prioritize what s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities Save the Date Stephanie Nancarrow from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, will be talking to students in grades 3-8 on Tuesday, March 13 th. She will have a special meeting for parents from 8:15-9:15 the morning of the 13 th before talking to the students. 5 Page 5 Summer 2018 Notre Dame Vision is a five day conference held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame! This conference is for all students who will be in high school in the fall, as well as any current HS seniors. Nativity had a group attend ND Vision two summers ago and they had an awesome experience! ND Vision is a time for teens to really reflect on self, others and their relationship with God. It is a time to grow deeper in faith and relationships. It is a time to have a better understanding of who they are, who they will be and most of all, what God sees for them. It is an amazing week to grow. Parents commented after their child attended that they had improved relationships within their own family, better understanding of and appreciation of the Sacraments, better motivation in school and activities, and greater sense of direction and purpose. A few students commented after they attended: Can t wait to go again, I didn t realize how cool our faith really is, I hated seeing the week come to an end The cost of the five day conference is $450 if registered by April 2 nd. Payment of $100 by April 2 nd will confirm your spot. If Nativity has a group of five or more attending, the cost will decrease a little. The dates of the sessions are June 18 22, June 25 29, July 9 13, and July Nativity will try to coordinate the week our students attend, but keep in mind, individuals can attend any week that is best for them and their family.
