4 AWMTC NEWSLETTER 2016 Issue 4 4 Rehearsals going great still time to join if quick! Rehearsals start back this week on Monday 12 th September and are on Monday and Thursday evenings and on Sunday afternoons although not all the cast is needed at all of the rehearsals. Rehearsals for Irving Berlin s White Christmas the Musical were great before our summer break and we even added some hat choreography to Blue Skies. If you act quickly there is still time to join our fabulous cast for our upcoming production of Irving Berlin s White Christmas the Musical! If you know of any MEN or TAPPERS then please encourage them to come along to a rehearsal - The more the merrier! If you find The Best Things Happen When You re Dancing and you want to tell people Let Me Sing and I m Happy then this is the show for you! Irving Berlin s White Christmas is a timeless tale of joy and goodwill, filled with classic songs, glorious dancing and lots of snow! It tells the story of two men, and their song-anddance team, putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn and falling for a stunning sister act in the process. Show week is Tuesday 8th November to Saturday 12 th November at The Evan s Theatre in Wilmslow.. IF YOU D LIKE TO PERFORM IN IRVING BERLIN S WHITE CHRISTMAS Please awmtc. @gmail.com Rehearsals have just started back so if you want to be on stage contact us asap. Help out Front of House, Back Stage or Behind the Scenes and be the backbone of the show! For any show to go ahead it requires a myriad of people who remain out of the spotlight to ensure the show is a success! Would you like to join this team of very special, essential people this year either at rehearsals or during show week to help make Irving Berlin s White Christmas the Musical the fantastic success it deserves to be? Experience is not required for all roles just a willingness to learn and help. We work as a team and believe in accessibility to all so our more experienced members are always willing to share their knowledge with new inexperienced enthusiasts. So what are you waiting for? Be the backbone of AWMTC for White Christmas the Musical. It doesn t matter if you feel you only have a little time to spare as even a few hours is highly valuable - in that time you could ensure our cast and crew are kept topped up with drinks and snacks during a rehearsal. IF YOU CAN OFFER HELP FOR A FEW HOURS AT REHEARSALS OR DURING SHOW WEEK: Please awmtc. @gmail.com stating where you would like to help if known or if you have no preference we will team you up where people are most needed. All help will be gratefully received. Ways you can help before show week include: Posters and Flyers: spread the word by asking local businesses, work places and community groups to put up a poster or have flyers on their reception desks or counters Raffle Prizes: visiting local businesses, restaurants, shops and supermarkets or using contacts you already have to obtain some fabulous raffle prizes Rehearsal Refreshments: get a sneak peak of the show on a Monday or Thursday evening or Sunday afternoon whilst keeping all involved hydrated The myriad of roles involved behind the scenes during show week include: Front of House: making the theatre a welcoming place for all - checking tickets and showing people to their seats, selling programmes and raffle tickets Box office: last minute ticket sales and collection of tickets Stage Crew and Props: ensure all props and free standing scenery is in place for given scenes and work the cloths Sound and Lighting: ensure the audience hear a balanced sound and all lighting effects and projections happen on time throughout Wardrobe: dressers help with quick changes and sewers are on hand each night for last minute costume adjustments or mending Refreshment team: keep a steady supply of drinks and snacks available back stage for cast, crew and all involved in the show
5 AWMTC NEWSLETTER 2016 Issue 4 5 Laura s amazing 300 mile charity cycle for AWMTC While the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic and Paralympic Cyclists have been bringing home the Gold for Team GB this summer our very own Laura Sly, last year s stage manager for Sister Act and a long standing society member, has successfully cycled across Europe to bring home the Gold for AWMTC. Although now living in Loughborough Laura kindly chose to raise funds for AWMTC by doing a sponsored cycle ride from London to Amsterdam to Brussels. In just 4 days, between 31 st August and 3 rd September Laura cycled an amazing 300 miles! Apart from the three major European cities Laura cycled through, most of the scenery was beautiful rolling countryside. Laura is now half way to her target of 300 so to borrow a well-known phrase Every Little Helps! so please donate what you can: It costs between 25,000 and 30,000 to stage a full production each year so we are very appreciative of any fund raising challenges people offer to do for us. Laura and her fellow cyclists at the finish point, The Atomium, in Brussels Christmas is nearer than you think! Raise AWMTC funds at no cost to you when you shop online at over 2,700 well known retailers Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for AWMTC? Over 2,700 retailers are signed up with easyfundraising and are ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's it doesn't cost you a penny extra! It's really easy to set up, all you have to do is: 1. Head to: and sign up for free. 2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping. 3. After you ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to AWMTC for no extra cost whatsoever! There are no catches or hidden charges and AWMTC will be very grateful for the donations from the retailers!
