1 Albert Park Public School Excellence, Innovation, Opportunity and Success Term 1 - Week 11 11/04/2018 We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Bundjalung people who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of the Land on which our school stands. Kenny went to the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. He had a great time cheering at the gymnastics. The students from Red have designed their own Commonwealth games mascots. 344 Keen St, Lismore, NSW, 2480 P E albertpk-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
2 BE A LEARNER. Principal s Address We have come to the end of Term 1 and it feels like it has just flown by. Students go on holidays this Friday and return to school on Tuesday, 1 May. Teachers return on the Monday and will be participating in a combined Staff Development Day with all the other Lismore schools at Southern Cross University. There will be no one on site on that Monday. I would like to say a huge thank you to all staff who covered my responsibilities while I have been away having my knees operated on and I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable fortnight with their children. I look forward to seeing everyone at the ANZAC Day March. Details are below. ANZAC Day March Albert Park Public School will be participating in the Anzac Day March on Wednesday, 25 April. We would like all students to attend. Students will need to be at the Clyde Campbell Car Park at 8.30am. Look for the Albert Park Public School banner. Students are to wear full school uniform and will need to bring their hats. We welcome any parents who would like to march with their children. We ask that all dress be neat and tidy and men wear collared shirts. Students, other than captains, do not need to stay for the ceremony and can be collected from the front of the Baths at the end of the March. If students do stay we suggest they bring a water bottle and will need to be picked up at 10.00am. Our School Anzac Day service will take place this Friday at 10.30am in the Performance Area. It will be run by our captains and Mr Norm Robinson will be our guest speaker from the RSL. All parents are welcome to attend. Rewards Day Tomorrow Well done to all those children who earned 18 or more Deadlies. They will be participating in our laser tag activity tomorrow. Notes and money need to be returned. Don t forget to read over the holidays Cross Country Our cross country will be held at Wyrallah Public School on Friday, 11 May. Permission notes will go out next term. A menu is attached to the newsletter and needs to be returned by Friday, 4 May if children would like to order their lunch on the day Australian Early Development Census Parents of our kinder students will find attached information re: AEDC Census. If you choose to opt out of this census please let Mr Mack know by the end of this week as the census will be completed by the end of Week 2, Term 2. Thank you.
3 Live Life Well - Did you know? BE RESPECTFUL. Hi, Yay! The holidays are soon here and the children can rest, relax and restore their energy levels for another productive term to come. The dreaded COMMON COLD will be soon amongst us. Here are some ways to help keep them at bay. 1 - Boost vitamin C 2 - Add more zinc. 3 - Get more vitamin A 4 - regularly wash you hands 5 - Get off the fast lane - rest and relax. 6 - Eat heaps of fruit & vegies! See you next Term!
