Dance Fever By Charlie and Nahvroy Dance Fever is a dance company who have come to teach our students awesome moves in preparation for our school production. Every Thursday, our wonderful dance teachers Morgan and Jess, help us practise and have selected a special theme for every grade. They also help us through motivational and fun exercises that keep the students keen and willing to dance. We cannot tell or show you all of the dance moves because it s a secret. Stay tuned for the production in term 3! Years K-6 showing off some awesome dance moves!

Principal s Report Newsletter Team A special thank you to Mrs Vo and the newsletter team for your wonderful work in the production of our school newsletter. It is a most informative, professional publication and a credit to you all. Well done! Road Safety in S chool Zones Unfortunately I am continually approached regarding the irresponsible behaviour of some of our carers, before and after school, in our school zone. This includes speeding, double parking, illegal use of mobile phones while driving, incorrect use of Kiss and Drop and inappropriate use of the pedestrian crossing. Our school zone operates from 8am to 9:30am and from 2:30pm to 4pm. Highway patrol police and the local council will continue to perform random traffic blitzes in order to control this issue. A few weeks ago, seven fines were issued during one ten minute period very disappointing. The fines are very expensive and attract a loss of demerit points. To assist us to keep our students safe and to remind everyone that this is a school zone, we have had additional flashing lights installed on Marconi Road. It is not only the behaviour of some of our motorists that is alarming, but also carers who are allowing children to cross the road incorrectly. Some carers continue to cross the road without using the pedestrian crossing. Others are allowing their children to run ahead. I have also been informed that some carers are parking on the other side of Bossley Road and calling their children to come across by themselves. These behaviours are extremely dangerous! Many times, I have had parents complaining, and rightly so, about children almost being hit by cars. Like us, they are concerned that if this behaviour continues to occur, one day there may be a tragedy outside our school! Please, please, please observe the road rules and keep your children safe by holding their hands when crossing the road. Whole School Production The students and teachers have been very busy learning their dance moves ready for our Term 3 production. A note will be sent home early in Term 3, with information regarding the night and ticket sales. Due to PARKS Performing Arts festival, our Production will now take place in Week 9 so please note the new date on your calendar when you receive the note.

Mini-beasts Incursion By Natasha On Monday 8th of May, Stage 1 had an incursion about mini-beasts, which are small animals without an internal skeleton, also known as invertebrates. The students had fun with the little creatures of our world and enjoyed learning all about them. 1. What mini-beast did you like the best? Olivia The stick insect. Corbin The goliath stick insect. Emma The rhino beetle. Charlie The stick insect. Alyssa The spider. Evangel The rhino beetle. Sophia The stick insect. 2. What was one fact you learnt about a mini-beast at the incursion? Olivia If a bird tries to eat a beetle it makes a noise. Corbin Some mini-beasts don t have back legs. Emma The boy beetles fight with each other for the girl. Sophia Some mini-beasts have no backbone. Evangel Beetles eat fruit. 3. If you could be a mini-beast for a day, which one would you be and why? Olivia A stick insect because it can camouflage itself in trees. Sophia A caterpillar because I can turn into a butterfly and can fly away. Emma A stick insect so I can camouflage. Evangel A millipede so I could be small and nobody could see me. Charlie A stick insect because it has long legs so it can walk far.

Stage 2 Tree Planting By Nahvroy On Tuesday 16th May, students from Stage two went on an excursion to lizard log. They went there to plant some trees and of course everyone enjoyed it, but what s so interesting about planting some trees? Well, trees produce oxygen that help people breathe. They also create a lush green setting for everybody to enjoy! Western Sydney Parklands are hoping that the trees grow and form a natural environment. Overall, Stage two had a great time outdoors planting the trees and eventually, they ll grow big and tall.

Cross Country By Tiare We recently had our cross country for 2017 on Wednesday 3rd of May. We chose a new location which was Lizard Log. Our four house teams, Banksia, Mimosa, Grevillia, and Waratah all had to race and compete against each other in a seriously challenging race. Stage 1 and Kindergarten did 1 lap, Stage 2 did 2 laps, and Stage 3 had to run 3 extremely challenging laps around a section of Lizard Log. It was really good exercise, and it was fun to compete against different people and different teams. Even though all of our teams did a really fantastic job, there could only be one house that could win, and that team was Waratah! Mimosa came second, Banksia third, and last was Grevillea. Great effort to all the houses though!!!!! Students placed in the top 6 raced at the Zone Cross Country. Well done to the students who represented our school.

3-6 Athletics with Bill By Charlie and Nahvroy Bill is back and he has more fun and interesting games for the students of Bossley! On Mondays over 5 weeks, Bill has been helping us develop skills for the athletics carnival coming up on Thursday in week 9. He has made sure that we learn all the basic and important skills to help us exercise and practise for the upcoming race and as always he's doing through fun fitness games. Bill motivates the students and has achieved many fans who are excited to participate. Everyone is always eager to go down to the oval and do some fun, interesting fitness activities. Bill is always funny too! We hope he comes again!
