Our theme this year has been Find Your Greatness, and in the month of February we offered 28 Days of Kindness during which students filled out a link for a paper chain if they met the challenge.

This week began with a Challenge Day assembly sponsored by our leadership students. Our theme this year has been Find Your Greatness, and in the month of February we offered 28 Days of Kindness during which students filled out a link for a paper chain if they met the challenge. Some included saying hi to five new people, sitting with someone different at lunch, thanking their bus driver, etc. It was gratifying to see the paper chain go up one side of Main Street and down the other by the time the 28 days concluded. We know that bullying behavior spikes in middle school and diminishes in high school, and we are relentless in our quest to stop bullying and increase acts of kindness. After the assembly, students debriefed in their advisory classes, and reflected on questions including How do you feel you, or Liberty as a whole, can support those students whose stories we heard, List three dreams you have for your future and Please list ideas you have for being the difference in our school or community. Since each student filled out the reflection sheet, we have 724 ideas we will review and put into action. In addition to our leadership class, we have a rotating group of students from all three grades that we ve been meeting with monthly for P.R.I.D.E. Talks. We want to be sure all of our students have a voice and opportunity to help make Liberty the most positive learning community on Earth! Thanks for sharing them with us! Volunteers (first-timers as well as experienced) will attend a 30-minute training at a choice of two times, then sign up for a shift on April 28 th to listen to Liberty students read and take a few notes while you listen. With the leadership of coach Tony Dangerfield, the Lions were undefeated in league and won their first ever GSHMSL Championship. They also defeated defending champion Shahala and rival Skyridge to capture their first GSHMSL District Tournament. This is an annual team award given at Liberty for the highest team GPA. Currently the Liberty Lions Girls Cross Country team is leading with a 3.66 GPA! 6 Page 6 Liberty Middle School 1612 NE Garfield (360) Liberty 6th grade science and language arts teachers were awarded a CEF grant to help bring non-fiction author Kelley Milner Halls to Liberty to kick off a science/language arts research unit on careers involving science and technology. Liberty Robotics Club coach Mistalyn Batten was awarded a CEF grant for the purchase of the soon to be released EV3 LEGO robotic kits. THANK YOU CEF!!! We have had parents come to pick up their scholar seemingly spontaneously, causing us to search for an ill student, which can be alarming and also disrupt our educational process.

Now s the time to start clipping Box Tops from your favorite participating products and send them into school with your child. It's a fun way to support our school!

We document the illness and assist the students in calling for pickup if necessary, assist with gathering personal items or schoolwork, and then know where all students are at all times. The safety, well-being, and whereabouts of your children are our #1 priority!! Box Top Contest April 29th- May 17th! Now s the time to start clipping Box Tops from your favorite participating products and send them into school with your child. It's a fun way to support our school! Box Tops will be collected in your child's 1st period classroom April 29th - May 17th. The classroom who turns in the most will be awarded with a delicious Popcorn Party!! Thanks for your help with this! April 9am The third Friday of every month at 9am Join us for coffee and conversation with Principal Boerke. You ll get to hear about what s going on at Liberty plus you ll get the chance to ask questions, clear up any rumors, make suggestions, and more.
