I hope that everyone had an enjoyable holiday break! It s been an exceptionally busy first week back at school. Term 4 always seems to be action packed and disappears quickly! There is great excitement about our big fundraising activity set to take place this weekend, the Fun Fish Dive! Tickets, tee-shirts and caps have been flying out the door. Huge thanks to the Parent Support Group, Shane Nicholas, sponsors, and everyone who has contributed to the organization of this event. Please see more details about times and other information further on in this newsletter. Another upcoming fundraising event is the launch of our own Local and Loved cookbook. This will take place in our school library from 5pm on Thursday 1 st November. We thank our Parent Support Group, Sharn Coates and her team, for their passion and persistence with creating this special treasure. We appreciate what a huge undertaking it has been. We have the Scholastic Book Fair coming to our school library in another week. Information about opening hours is in another part of this newsletter. Purchases made from the book fair contribute to providing resources for our school. Our thanks go to Jenny Traill for organizing this event and we look forward to seeing you there. Athletics events will be happening in a few weeks time as well as Year 5 and 6 camps. Please ensure children have hats, as they are compulsory at school throughout term 4. Children without hats will have to remain in shaded areas during break times. Based on some of the feedback we have received from parents, we now have another range of uniform samples made with different fabrics on display in the school office. We are interested in your feedback. Please come in and have your say, as we will make a decision in the next few weeks. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend. Happy fishing! 2 School Hats Just a friendly reminder that children need to wear their school hats in Term Four. If your child doesn t own one, new hats are available from Bethells or the office for $11 ICAS results Mathematics. The participants in the 2018 ICAS Mathematics assessment have now received their results. Congratulations to Aston Plunkett and Jacob Bull for achieving distinction. We had another seven students who achieved credit and six who achieved merit. Well done, everyone! This is the final set of results for ICAS this year. We hope you enjoyed the school break. We have been busy bees planning our launch party & getting the displays ready to sell our cookbooks at local market days & retail outlets. We promise that you will love it & of course we will be taking orders on the day :) It isn t long now until the Local & Loved launch party! 3 FUN, FISH & DIVE COMPETITION We are just a day away from our biggest fundraising event of the year - the Fun, Fish & Dive Competition & Gala Day! It s not too late to jump online to purchase your anglers tickets at You can also swing by the school office & purchase with cash, up until 3.30pm today. The weather forecast is looking great! There are great prizes up for grabs across all categories. Don t forget the kids can enter the sprat-catching competition for FREE! We look forward to seeing you all Monday from 12.30pm onwards for the weigh-in & gala event! So many amazing activities to keep the kids entertained with face-painting, hot rods, bouncy castles, petting zoo, pony rides & the Kamo Fire Brigade! Don t forget there will be craft stalls, food trucks, raffles & smoked fish for sale! The prize-giving & fish auction will commence at 3.30pm so that you can head home with fresh seafood for dinner. Contact Satomi Kamo Swimming Club 2018/19 SeasonStroke Improvement lessons for children who can swim 10m in basic strokes without stopping. Held at Kamo High School Pool, Wilkinson Ave Kamo from Monday 29th October at 4.25pm and thereafter Mondays & Fridays. Club nights also held regularly. Registration day Friday 26th October at KHS Pool, come and enrol. High School students & parents welcome - good opportunity to come & swim lengths and get stroke improvement tips and fitness in a relaxed environment.
