SUMMER VENTURE OUT-LINES The next publication of the Out-Lines will be Friday, August 28. The deadline for submissions is Noon on Monday, August 17. Out-Lines will be available during normal business hours from Activity Office and Administration Office. Copies will also be placed in the Baja Bistro for your convenience. You may visit Venture Out s website at to browse current and past editions of the Out-Lines. All offices will be closed Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. Security will be on duty. 10 PIN BOWLING Robert Hayes Attention 10 Pin Bowlers: A new season brings a new location. We will be bowling at Mesa Bowl, 9260 East Broadway in Mesa, Bowling will start October 23 at 9:00 am. Organizational meeting October 21, at 9:00 am in the Oasis. Thinking of joining us? HAM RADIO Paulette Thompson Saturday, June 27, Dick Vance K7NEX coordinated the Venture Out participation in Field Day - a national preparedness day held annually. Dick was at the Ham Shack from 11:00 am Saturday until 11:00 am Sunday, June 28. Jim Watson N6RXV had 5 contacts including New York, using the big yaesu radio on 20M. Most of the other hams left by 8:00 pm Saturday, but Anna WA8VTS stayed until 11:00 pm. Dick and friends ran 3 stations working the Caribbean or Central America and 40 of the 50 states. Having accomplished the goal of preparing for future calamities, Dick headed home and slept until 8:00 pm Sunday night. LIBRARY NEWS Marianne Speck Open shelves in the library continue to be open at all times that the Community Center is open. If lights are off, go to the back, near the doors to the Bistro, on the lobby wall and turn on all switches. For the next few weeks, all volunteers who work from 10:00 am-noon on Mon. and Wed. will be on vacation. You can call me at the above number and if I am in town, I will be glad to come over and help you. Soon I will add the new Harper Lee book to the open shelves. It will be located on the display shelf in the middle of the library. REGISTER TO VOTE ELECTRONICALLY Carol Perkinson Go to your internet web browser and enter the following into the address field. VentureOut/ A hands-on DEMONSTRATION BALLOT will pop up. After trying it out you will be asked to provide your address, unit address within VO, and your name if you choose to vote electronically in Venture Out elections. You can try out this demonstration ballot multiple times, until you are comfortable with the process before you must leave your registration. If you OPT IN you will receive an in January where you will simply click on the link provided in the and it will automatically take you to your ballot.
