3 BEAN SUPPAH TRIVIA So Why is the Bean Suppah held on a Wednesday? The Bowling League plays on Wednesdays from 1 to about 3:30pm. Several of the players go out to dinner after (usually a place that has a two-fer or early-bird discount). 17 years ago when Helen and I started the Old Fashioned New England style Bean Suppahs, Sis Manhard suggested we hold it on Wednesday and the bowlers will come here to eat. That s it. Now you can wow your friends with your newly acquired factoid about Unit 3. KARAOKE Sunday, February 25th, 4pm. Come to sing or just to listen to the undiscovered talent in unit 3. Always a fun time! Bring snacks, and BYOB...makes the singing sound even better! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT There will be a debate between Pinellas Park Mayor Sandra Bradbury, who is running for reelection, against her opponent, former Mainlands Community Safety Officer Donna Saxer. It will take place: Monday, February 5th, 7pm, Unit 5 clubhouse. 90th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Susan Mascolo The Social Club will be holding a Birthday Reception on Sunday, February 4th at 2 pm to honor all of our residents who are 90 years of age and older in the year We would like to invite our honored guests, their families and friends, and Unit 3 residents to join us for fun and refreshments. Please call Susan Mascolo at if you have any questions. GARAGE SALE Mickey Harwood Friday, March 9th from 8am to 12 noon. $5 fee to cover the cost of advertising. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the clubhouse. This is your once-a-year opportunity to replace that stuff in your garage with a nice, big space for your expensive car. Contact number for Mickey is Regina Clifton Our Community Health Promoters Flo Guimond This winter has seen a lot of sickness here in Mainlands. One really good prevention is hand washing and wiping down knobs, phones, steering wheels etc. with Lysol or Clorox wipes. The Class for Diabetes is going well, Flo and I are learning a lot as well as the students. This is a six week program with strict attendance rules; you must make up missed classes. We look forward to the spring and having some speakers on health topics. Notice in the header on page 1 that the Mainlands office now has a website. Good info there and forms that can be downloaded and printed. Check it out. 3
