Jean Simpson Jim Craig Bob White RESIGNATION: President Jean Simpson submitted her resignation from the Board to be effective at 9 PM January 21, She stated that Board members had interviewed all residents who were interested in the open Board Member position at the time of the annual Board Election. She indicated Board Member James Craig has prior experience as a homeowner board president and is willing to take on that responsibility. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICER POSITION: A motion was made and seconded to appoint Mr. Craig as Board President effective at 9 PM on January 21, The motion was approved unanimously. APPOINT DIRECTOR: Ms. Simpson stated that a vacancy may be filled by affirmation of the Board to complete the term of a Director who resigns. The Board recommends the appointment of Bob White to complete the 2-year term of Ms. Simpson. He will continue to assist with Alterations and will participate in the Handbook review committee to acquaint himself with all the rules. A motion was made and seconded to appoint Mr. Bob White as a director to complete the 2-year term of Ms. Simpson, effective January 21, 2016 at 9 PM. The motion was approved unanimously. Mr. White was introduced to those attending the meeting and thanked for his willingness to join the Board. HOB PRESIDENT S MESSAGE JIM CRAIG The most recent meeting of the HOB was held on January 21st at the clubhouse with many things voted on and information about changes to our entrance discussed. New wording for parking of cars and motor homes on the street and in the parking lot were discussed and voted on. Fishing in our lakes was discussed and reinforced with No Fishing signs. We will be using a different attorney more versed in collections of bad debt. An from our property manager, Mollie, informed us of a new business coming to the shopping center area at the Mainlands entrance. Information on this business was discussed at the meeting. At the end of the meeting President Jean Simpson gave her resignation and it was accepted. I was appointed new president and want to thank Jean for her time and hard work. I have a lot to get up to speed on and will seek her help as well as the rest of the board and former officers as I grow into this position. Cahal Dunne, "Ireland's Happy Man" is a composer, classically trained concert pianist, story teller, comedian and television personality. His style is rich and deep, reflecting the many strands in his distinguished career. He has performed with Bob Hope, Al Martino, Tony Orlando and has performed for several American Presidents. So, with his Irish to Broadway to Country repertoire, a great show is guaranteed! Sunday, February 11, Tickets $12, Flo Guimond at Kaffee Klatch. 2 SOCIAL CLUB Barbara Konvicka, President We started 2016 with a wonderful New Years Eve celebration. Then we all had a wicked good time with the Sock Hop... how much fun was that!! Thank you Peter; you had the house a rockin. Terrie Magyar headed the decoration committee that set the stage for a hoppin good time! February looks like it's going to be full of great activities too. On the first Thursday of the month we have our food collection, lets back this great service that goes to the Family Center in Lealman. Thank you Debbie and Dale Krumreich for helping with this great cause. There will be a potluck supper on Valentines Day, Sunday, February 14th at 5pm. This is fun and great fellowship. The Social Club is sponsoring a night in concert with Cahal Dunne. He has appeared on David Letterman, PBS, and internationally. This is such a great special entertainment. Please come and hear him and enjoy an evening on Thursday, February 11th, at 7:30pm. All board members have tickets for sale and they are also on sale at KK for only $ Our monthly dance will be held on Saturday, February 20th, with Keith Coleman. A show and dance starting at 7:30pm and ending at 10:30. Tickets $8. You don t want to miss the annual Ham & Bean Suppah. This will be the 15th year of this event. Always a sell out, so get your tickets soon; still only $7. Tickets on sale for all events at KK every Thursday morning at 8:30am. Great fellowship and information about activities at KK and a great way to start your day. WOMEN S CLUB Deb Engstrom, President Next meeting is on Friday, February 19th at 12:00 noon. February is heart health month, and that will be the focus of our meeting. Please sign the list on the bulletin board if you will be attending, bring a salad to share, and wear RED! Thanks for promptly paying your 2016 dues which are $10. Sis Manhard, our treasurer, will collect dues at KK or at the meeting. Our thanks to each one of you for doing a terrific job, and a special thanks to the ladies who play an important role at our Pancake Breakfasts. Our meeting this month will be shifted to February 18th. Due to a conflict in scheduling, we have relinquished our regular meeting time to the Social Club, and for a good reason. (We're good guys!) Gentlemen, plan to attend our "Super Bowl Party" on Sunday, February 7, Festivities begin at 5:30 pm (game time 6:30). We will have high definition coverage on our big stage screen. There will be snacks and refreshments throughout the evening, and opportunity for prizes for those who participate. Your only cost is to bring a covered dish to share. The Unit 3 harmonica group is extending an invitation to all Mainlands residents who would like to play in the group to contact Leo Perry, The group meets in the Unit 3 Clubhouse every Monday at 9am. Leo has entry-level harmonicas available to purchase from $6 to $10. All experience levels welcome. There is no charge to join the group. 2

3 SOUPER BOWL Deb Engstrom There is still time to help feed the hungry in our community. St. Pete free clinic feeds 40,000 individuals a month thru soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, etc. We will be collecting soup or other canned goods in the collection barrels up until Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th. Thanks for helping out! OUTDOOR WATER AEROBICS Will be held as long as the temperature is greater than 60 degrees. Times are Tuesday at 9:30am and Thursday at 10am. BIBLE STUDY Unit 3 resident Art Reed, will lead a weekly Interdenominational Christian Bible study at the Clubhouse starting on Thursday, January 28 at 11am. Art was a pastor for 20 years, retired, and has been a pastor at VA facilities for 20 years. Call Art at for more information. WALKING CLUB Elaine Wright Once again another New Year, they seem to be flying by for me, I guess that's true for all of us. Have had a good start with the Walking Club; Ft De Soto is always a great place to walk and having picnics there afterwards makes for a pleasant day's start. Walking in Gulfport and visiting the Farmer's Market is another favorite of mine and the final two weeks of January were spent there. Another couple of 100 miler badges were awarded during this time period with several more coming up on their 200 miles with the Club. Wow, am so pleased with the support and perseverance of the walkers themselves. Well done.
