4 Parent Volunteers Needed in the Cafeteria Parent Volunteers are needed in the cafeteria daily during the lunch hours. Ms. Ghotkar needs parents to help hand out forgotten spoons, napkins, etc... to the students, and help with any additional tasks as necessary. One of the most important/busiest time slots is the first hour, 11am.-Noon. The younger kids need more additional help with opening juice/milk boxes, opening straws, etc.. 5 Youth Art Month will be celebrated with an exhibition of elementary art from the Herndon area schools (including Oak Hill) during the month of March at the Worldgate Centre on Worldgate Drive in Herndon, VA. If you are visiting Sport and Health, the many restaurants, or the Cineplex, please take time to see our talented students work in the display cases in the main lobby.

The Mini-Economy is an exciting opportunity for students to participate in a mock economy in which they will become entrepreneurs! Kids will have the opportunity to be creative as they design and make a product to sell in our market. The kids will take ownership of their product as they learn what it takes to make their business and economy successful! They will have a blast while experiencing economic principles in a real life setting and becoming more financially literate. The week will culminate in a high energy market day and pizza party! Students from our major feeder elementary schools will be bused, others need to arrange their own transportation.

9 ADOPT -A -SOLDIER The Chantilly High School National Honor Society is working with America's Adopt-A-Soldier again this year to host a care package drive benefitting soldiers overseas. Our goal is to mobilize our school, the surrounding community and all pyramid schools in packing over 300 care packages. Donations will be collected from February 19 through April 12. Every two weeks on a Monday, NHS officers from Chantilly will pick up any donations at individual schools. Your support is needed to help make this project a success. Each school has specific donation items and additional information for your school will be coming home soon. All donations should be packed in a plastic or brown paper bag. We are encouraging students to donate as many packages as they feel they can over the two month period. Volunteers will also be needed on packing day, Saturday, April 13. This will take place in the Chantilly cafeteria beginning at 9:00am. For more information on America's Adopt-A-Soldier, please visit and see the attached flyer. Below, you will find an article for your April newsletter. ENERGY ZONE KIDS FITNESS CHALLENGE Research shows children copy the behavior of adults in their life. If parents are physically active, the children will be active too. Exercise burns calories, which assist in maintaining ideal weight. Fit adults and children exercise 60 minutes per day. KEEP MOVING TO STAY IN SHAPE TIPS Plan daily family walks. Limit television or computer time to 1 to 2 hours per day. Make exercise fun. Encourage play outside with other children. Assign chores that involve activity such as cleaning or walking the dog. Help your children find physical activities they enjoy. Remember, making a healthy change takes time and don t expect perfection.
