4 Brothers & Sisters September went very fast. Autumn is upon us. With the new season is a new agenda for the Eagles. Next thing is the Halloween party on October 28th with a DJ for dancing, door prizes and prizes for best costume. The Junction Association Harvest Festival is Sunday October 29th headed up by our Vice President Nate Keim. Our booth has been a big hit with the kids. Please come out and enjoy the food booths, games and company. We are still working on bringing back the Queen of Hearts on Monday nights. We are hoping to start in about days. Just what we need to get Mondays rocking. There will be more details on this forthcoming. Sunday breakfasts are back thanks to the Auxiliary sisters. We are hoping for a full Sunday breakfast schedule shortly. Thank you for all of your hard work Auxiliary sisters. Look for our new banner on the front of the building announcing our banquet room menu inviting non- members to grab the great food deals and good we offer and to support our Aerie. P.S. statistic: The average person stays in a bar 52 minutes longer if they have some food. Aerie new members abound only 42 dropped members this year and some due to health and relocation. That is down from over one hundred from last year. 5 Saturday October 14th Spaghetti Dinner Benefitting Spinal Cord Research 5:30 till sold out $8.00 Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread & spumoni ice cream Brothers & Sisters Fall is upon us I just love the falling leaves and crisp air! October will be a busy month lots going on. Many dinners and breakfasts please check out the calendar and plan on joining us for some meals. Karaoke with Rhonda is back the 2nd and 4th Fridays that s always a fun time. We are again participating in the West Seattle Harvest Festival on Sunday October 29th from 10-2pm. Our fishing booth is always a huge hit with the kids. Volunteers are needed so if you d like to volunteer in our booth please get a hold of Worthy VP Nate Keim. We will be having a Halloween party this year on the 28th. Details in newsletter. October 5th is our Auxiliary s 69th birthday. We d love to have you join us in our celebration. 7pm in the hall. DOOR PRIZES COSTUME PRIZES OCTOBER 28TH 8 11:30 PM Many volunteers are needed to help this annual event to be a roaring suc- Our end of summer bash benefitting All Aboard was a smashing success! A total of $413 was raised. We had a couple of All Aboard members join us. The picture below is of the corn hole tournament champs. Many thanks to Gene and Renae Thelin for making this event happen! A huge thank you to all who volunteered, brought food, and loaned/bought a corn hole game or just donated money. 7

8 3 nd ANNUAL Strong4Sam FUNDRAISER at the WEST SEATTLE EAGLES AERIE #2643 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22 TH SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS. NY GIANTS, 1:25 GAME Hot S Awesome will be hosting a fundraising halftime meal at the West Seattle Eagles Aerie #2643 during the October 22 nd Seahawks game in an effort to raise money for the Strong4Sam foundation and Project Violet. Food, drinks, raffles & football will be had. Entry is free, but donations to the foundation are encouraged. Cash bar. 100% of the proceeds from food sales, raffle tickets, Strong4Sam products & donations go directly to the Strong4Sam foundation in support of Project Violet. Below is the story of why Strong4Sam was started. In December 2014, Jeff and Kellea Taylor received the devastating news that their youngest son, 11 year old Sam, had an inoperable brain tumor. In the following months, their family was inundated with information about brain tumors and treatment options. They learned the hard way that, while effective, the existing treatment options come with difficult and painful side effects. It was during these early months that they also learned about Project Violet, a nonprofit research group at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, started by Sam s doctor, Dr. Jim Olsen, and dedicated to discovering more effective and less toxic therapies for pediatric cancer. Born out of the Taylor s desire to do everything possible to help Sam, Strong4Sam was created as a fundraising group in support of Project Violet, which is funded exclusively through private donations. In May 2015, after raising and donating over $40,000 for Project Violet, the Taylors established the Strong4Sam Foundation with the following mission: Strong4Sam is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating community awareness and raising funds for innovative research to discover more effective and less toxic therapies for pediatric cancer.
