2 Counselor s Corner. Please review your student s 2nd semester schedule on Skyward and discuss any addi&ons or changes that need to be made. Students can pick up schedule change request forms from Mrs. Bradfield in Student Services. All requests for reduced schedules and schedule changes must be turned in before Winter Break begins (Dec. 22). Take advantage of this winter break to have discussions with your student about classes for next year. Enrollment for will open in late January/early February. As part of the board goals, the district is surveying parents and the community about district performance measures and other topics (e.g. school calendar, high school start &mes, internet access, food insecurity). All of the surveys are available online, require about 15 minutes to take, and close at midnight on December 8. If you do not have online access to take the survey, please call LHS at to schedule a &me to take it here at the building. 3 Françamis, the LHS French Club, is hosting an excursion to the historic Kansas City Music Hall for a high-powered theater event - - Broadway s Les Misérables on December 5th! We'd like to thank Theater Rocks! for providing matching funds to make tickets more affordable. Student Illness, Absence, Appointment or Leaving Early If your student is ill or not going to be at school, please call ATTENDANCE If your child has an appointment or needs to leave early, we ask that parents/guardians call no later than two hours prior to the :me you want them to leave, whenever possible. You can leave a message if a#endance doesn t answer your call! Moved? Changed your Number? If you have changes to your informa:on, please inform Mrs. Bradfield at Changes include: address, phone numbers, work informa:on, marital status, doctor s phone number, emergency contact, address, etc. Please help us keep informa:on current to help keep you informed. From the Athletic Office: Is your student going out for boys baseball, boys golf, boys tennis, boys track, girls soccer, girls so@ball, girls swimming & diving or girls track? The forms DEADLINE for spring sports is Monday, February 19 th. Tryouts and prac&ces begin February 26 th for those athletes with the five (5) required forms on file in the athlec office. Incomplete forms won t be accepted so make sure they are complete. Forms may not be submi?ed at tryouts or prac&ces, or to coaching staff. A forms packet may be picked up in the main office or individual forms may be downloaded from the Athle&cs page of the LHS Website. Schedules for spring sports will be posted at as soon as they have been finalized. The LHS Future Lions Sports Informa&on Mee&ng for athletes currently in grades 7/8 and their guardians will be Wednesday, April 11 th at 7:00pm in the LHS Main Gym. Learn about what it means to be an athlete at LHS, speak with the AD and coaches, and learn about summer camps and condi&oning. Follow us on

4 The Talent Show and Auc&on raised money to provide social services for LHS students and scholarships for deserving seniors who ve par&cipated in Can We Talk or FYI Club. 5th Place winners won $10 in prizes - it was a &e congratula&ons to Maria Buskirk for her performance and Jacobi Johnson and Kris&an Russell s for their performances Fourth place winner won $20 in prizes congratula&ons to William Kampa Third-place winner won $30 in prizes congratula&ons to Luther Fuller Second place winners won $40 in prizes -it was a &e congratula&ons to Cheyenne Cli@on-Mooney for performance and Chisato Kimura for her performance And the first place winner of the talent show who won $50 in prizes congratula&ons to Ellie Bates Winners will be gemng passes today to come pick up their prizes. Congratula&ons to all par&cipants and stage crew for a great show. And a special thank you to everyone that came out to support the Talent Show as well as staff that helped make it possible. It s a great day to be a lion, Grrrrr. 5 Trees, trees, trees.. The wreath "Christmas the Musical" made by Art Club/Na&onal Art honor Society and donated to 31st Annual Fes&val of Trees Wreaths and trees are on view now through Sunday at Liberty Hall, Downtown Lawrence. Proceeds benefit the Children's Shelter. Students are Elijah Jackson, Wya? Carson, Akia Miles, Brisa Andrade and Ka&e Grear. Not pictured is Shikayah Brunello. Members of the LHS Geography Club have spent the month of November construc&ng a tree made of Mountain Dew cans for the Children s Shelter of Lawrence s winter fundraiser. In the spirit of a environmental concerns the club built a green tree out of repurposed materials. The theme of the tree was Christmas let s DEW IT.
