THURSDAY 27 NOVEMBER 2014 TERM 4 WEEK 7 As Head of Cricket I could not be happier with the efforts of both the players and coaching staff over the first half of the 2014/15 CAS cricket season. Every boy and coach have worked hard to ensure they they are getting the best out of their ability each and every week and that they represent the school in the best way possible. Ideally, I would like to see every team win each week but that's just not possible but what is possible is continued quality coaching and support for all boys. I need to ensure all boys are enjoying their cricket and that they have a quality sporting experience each summer while at school. So far this season the cricket program has achieved some quality results both as individuals and teams. The 2nd XI boys and the 9A's have been the surprise packets with some great wins and fine individual performances. Coaches Chris Burnett and Steven Green are making a huge difference to the boys cricket and are keen on making these boys quality 1st XI cricketers in the future seasons. We have a big 2015 planned with the McGrath Foundation 'Pink Stumps Day' being held on Saturday, February 21. Please can we all donate generously on the day to what is a outstanding charity. There are a number of tours in the pipeline with the tour of India taking place for the senior squad in late September. This promises to be the highlight of the cricketing calendar and will truly be a great life and cultural experience for our boys. I'm also looking into other domestic tour options for the year 7 and 8 boys. Congratulations to 1st XI players Jack Fagan, Sam Atkinson and Finnbar Stenmark who have been selected in the CAS South team to play the North boys on Saturday, January 31. This will be a trial game to select the CAS team to compete in the NSW Schoolboys week in Tamworth in March. Best of luck boys!! I'm sure you will do yourselves and the school proud. Finally, I would like to thank the 1st XI parents for their support so far this summer. Bridgette Fagan, Thomas Siu and all the parents have made my life much easier on game days with all

the assistance they offer. Thankyou so very much for the support you give both myself and the boys. Enjoy the holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone!! Best wishes for Tim Lang Head of Cricket 1st XI mums' Cheng Siu, Bridgette Fagan and Fiona Hayward preparing another high quality lunch at Hordern. There is no doubt that lunches at Hordern are the best Sydney has to offer. Great job ladies!! Match Reports 1st XI vs Knox Day 1 Hot conditions greeted us on our arrival at Grahame Mapp Oval for our Round 4 clash with Knox. The toss was going to play a big part in the outcome of this game with such hot conditions and a very flat wicket for schoolboy cricket. Unfortunately the Knox skipper won the toss and chose to bat first. Finnbar took an early with with Fagan taking a superb catch at third slip. Im sure this will appear on many a highlight reel over the coming months. All the Cranbrook bowlers toiled hard in oppressive conditions and the energy levels remained high throughout the day. Chat

in the field was led by Gall and Martin. These boys did a great job to keep the intensity levels high during a difficult afternoon. Knox finished day 1 at 4/212. All bowlers bowled their hearts out with Hayward, Atkinson and Fagan really impressing. Special mention must go to Nick Lamens who was a late call up into the 1st XI. Nick had a virus all week and was feeling average at best but fielded brilliantly. He lifted for his school and teammates and should be very proud of his efforts. Alec Lesmond also pulled off one of the great run outs to dismiss danger man Chapman late in the day. Alec swooped on the ball behind point and threw down the stumps at the bowlers end. Alec really enjoyed this one and all his teammates celebrated with him. Day 2 Thankfully cooler weather greeted us on Saturday morning and 7 quick wickets were the order of the day if we were to give ourselves a opportunity of winning. Knox started well with a few boundaries but we then ripped through their middle and lower order to bowl them out for 287. Alec Lesmond pick up 3 wickets with his stump to stump seamers while Stenmark, Negus and Fagan all collected wickets. In my two seasons at Cranbrook this was the most disciplined bowling performance I've seen and most courageous fielding effort. This group of boys need to be very proud of the hard work they displayed over the 97 overs in the field. It was now our turn to bat and conditions couldn't have been better for openers Siu and Martin. We suffered a early blow when Siu tried an audacious pull shot of the Knox left arm quick. Fagan then joined Martin and they steadied the ship until Jack ran past a full toss and was bowled. Martin and Gall then followed in the same direction as their skipper and we went to lunch at 4/45. Two dismissals coming from very poor shot selection. Stenmark and Atkinson then combined for partnership of 102 with both boys facing nearly 200 balls each. This was a superb effort and really frustrated the Knox bowlers who were pushing hard for a win. The second new ball was taken and it had immediate effect with Atkinson being bowled for 54. Sam showed some real fight and his innings needs to be followed by a few other batsmen in the team. Wickets then fell regularly with Cranbrook finishing all out 175. This wasn't a true reflection of the game. In the two seasons I've been at the school I haven't seen a more determined effort from any team and if we can keep producing this effort every weekend then I'm sure we can turn around our fortunes and get some wins shortly. Knox 287 (A Lesmond 3-28, J Fagan 2-49, F Stenmark 2-55 defeated Cranbrook 175 (S Atkinson 54, F Stenmark 46, F Martin 20) COWAN POINTS 5 - Finnbar Stenmark 4 - Sam Atkinson 3 - Alec Lesmond

2 - Fergus Martin 1 - Jack Fagan 2nd XI vs Knox Cranbrook (M.Turner 39* N.Rael 27) defeated Knox 145 (P.Parras 3-31 C.Hayward 2-38) Day 1 - Knox 8/129 (60) Cranbrook lost the toss on a very warm Friday afternoon at Hordern and were given the task of grinding down a very conservative Knox batting line up. It was a relentless display of tight bowling and crisp fielding by the 2nd XI boys. Pete Parras (3-31) was again amongst the wickets ripping through the Knox top order while at the other end all the bowlers stood up in the heat. Our dominance on Day one was highlighted in the last hour by Knox already seemingly playing for a draw, as they dead batted their way to an extraordinarily slow off 60 overs. It was a very disciplined day of cricket by Cranbrook. Day 2 - Knox 145 Cranbrook 3/146 Charlie Hayward quickly knocked over the final two wickets in his most controlled spell of the year, finishing with 2-38 (14.3). Cranbrook had been left 51 overs to score 146 and on a Hordern belter. A slight reshuffle to the order had Skipper Nick Rael (27) opening the innings with Jordie Ireland (22) who quickly went about taking the game away from Knox. In a 5 an over opening stand of 59, Cranbrook were in a superb position as our form player, Michael Turner (39*) walked to the crease. He was joined shortly by Pete Parras (26) who continued the positive start, belting some impressive boundaries. Cranbrook roared to the required runs with extreme ease and left the strong Knox XI in disbelief. It was a clinical display from the 2nd XI and hopefully abolished the demons of last week's tight loss. Cowan Points 5 - P.Parras 4 - M.Turner 3 - C.Hayward 2 - J.Ireland 1 - N.Rael 3rd XI vs Waverley The 3rdXI lost the toss and were forced to bowl first on an overcast afternoon at Dangar. an early wicket to Lachie Roseman made it seem as though we might roll through the Waverley order. However, we allowed their batters to settle in and Waverley accelerated to a total of

245. On a small pitch the total was not too daunting and we knew if our batting order fired we could easily achieve the runs. We started out strong with Rob Macnamara and Tom Wilson looking comfortable at the crease. Unfortunately, despite some middle order resistance from Rathie and Obrien, the Waverley attack was too strong and we were only able to manage 100 at the end of the innings. The boys are looking forward to next year and are looking to claim a few more victories. Waverley 245 (Showniruk 2-17) def Cranbrook 100 (O brien 31, Rathie 20) Cowan Points: 5. O Brien 4. Showniruk 3. Rathie 2. Roseman 1. Antico 4th XI vs Waverley The mighty 4th XI were keen to finish the first half of the season on a high and put a string of loses behind them. Cranbrook won the toss and elected to bowl. Poor bowling to begin with allowed Waverley some early boundaries and aided them in setting a good platform from which to dominate the game. Waverley s batting attack proved somewhat of a handful, however accurate bowling from Angus McNiven stemmed the flow of runs. George Howard- White also proved his worth, taking a crucial wicket to put Waverley on the back foot. Poor fielding from majority of the Cranbrook team allowed Waverley to post a rather flattering score of 165, not reflecting the bowling display form the Brookie boys. Cranbrook began the innings on a rather slow note despite some excellent shot selection from Towmey and McNiven. As the overs continued to roll over the job was booming harder and harder. Then in walked Barakat, reaching his half century in style with some heavy boundary hitting, putting Cranbrook in perfection position to snatch victory. Matt Tierney combined with Barakat and aided Cranbrook in their convincing win over Waverley. COWAN POINTS 5. Barakat 4. Matt Tierney 3. George Howard-White 2. Towmey 1. McNiven

10B vs Waverley Cranbrook 8/107 (Tait 26, Ulm 20, Wolfsenberg 12) lost to Waverley 5/111 (Tait 2/2, Ulm 1/8, Wolfensberg 1/8) On Saturday Cranbrook played Waverley at Queens Park. Batting first the boys did well to reach their highest total of the year with intelligent batting and a plethora of shots. Defending 107 the boys did well in the field and were unfortunate to not come away with the win. COWAN POINTS 5- Tait 4- Ulm 3- Wolfensberg 2- Spira 1- Lee 9A vs Knox The 9A's travelled to Knox for a Friday/Saturday game this round minus regular captain Josh Turner who broke his leg at school during the week. Josh joins Finn Parker in our casualty ward and has been ruled out for the season, the team wishes Josh a speedy recovery. The new skipper Elias Green got off to a good start on an extremely hot day by winning the toss and elected to bat much to the delight of his teammates. Unfortunately Alex Buchen fell to a good ball early for 2 and we were 1/6. Johnny Vickers joined Max Gerlach at the crease before Max was bowled and Cranbrook were 2/18. Elias Green joined Johnny and the pair batted beautifully until Johnny hit one back to the bowler and was caught for 59 which included 9 fours and a six, this innings was on top of the 61 he scored last week. Lachie Swaney joined Elias at the crease to add a further 50 runs to the score when Elias skied one and was out for a solid 41 leaving 4/169. A steady flow of wickets followed and when Lachie was caught on the boundary for 66 the score was 8/228. Lachie's innings included 9 fours and 4 sixes and backed up his 65 from the week before. A further 7 runs were added between the two Noah's and big Fitz and we were bowled out for 235. This gave us 6 overs to bowl before the end of the days play. Success was had with the last ball of the day when Tim White found the pads of the opening batsman and claimed an LBW with the score on 16. A great way to end the days play. Saturday brought cooler conditions thankfully and it also brought an early wicket with Lachie bowling the other opening batsman and Knox was 2/16. They steadied the ship until the score reached 42 when communication between the batsmen broke down and Max Gerlach swooped to get a run out. Soon after another bad call gave Noah Lines a chance to knock the stumps down with a great throw and Knox were 4/52. Another wicket followed next ball when Lachie clean bowled the batsman and it was 5/52. Two runs later Elias chipped in with an

LBW 6/54. Another two runs later Elias bowled the batsman and it was 7/56. Then we hit a brick wall with the two batsmen batting for 38 overs. With the score on 127 Johnny Vickers took a screamer down at fine leg off the bowling of Sean Fitzgerald and that was enough for Cranbrook to claim victory. Knox were down to 9 after having one player down with illness and another with a fractured finger after dropping a catch on Friday. Wickets were shared with Elias taking 2/1 off his 8 overs, Lachie 2/36 off 13,Fitzy 1/9 off 6.2 overs, Tim 1/26 off 13. Also with good figures Max 0/6 off 6 and on debut Noah Harris 0/10 off his 7 overs. A great result after last weeks game and sets up a good battle with our neighbours Waverley next Friday. COWAN POINTS 5. L. Swaney 4. E. Green 3. J. Vickers 2. M. Gerlach 1. T. White 9B vs Waverley Cranbrook won the toss and batted first. Cranbrook 84 all out from 20 overs Waverley 87 for 3 from 12 overs. Cranbrook opened the game with their minds set on attack. Jordie Shore played his part as the enforcer hitting a few clean boundaries in the first few overs before a lack of communication between the openers caused a disappointing run out, which saw jordies efforts cut short. Few Cranbrook boys made any real impact with the bat as the innings grew old. Harry parker kept the runs ticking over in an attempt to steady the ship. Matt Haviland played nicely to make 19, a valuable contribution. Then enter Dutchy at number 10. Striking fear into the Waverley bowlers eyes as he punished them ball by ball. Dutchy treated us to a display destructive stroke play. The Finest innings I have seem him play. Cranbrook failed to maintain the high level of enthusiasm we ended the first innings with as the Waverly Batsmen were clearly looking to knock the runs of early. Despite fine efforts with the ball from Noah Harris, Matt Haviland and Harry Parker, Waverly managed to reach their target 3 wickets down. As the last game of the term it is important for the boys to reflect on far they have come since their first game. All though we have not got the results we are looking for, the boys can be

proud of how much they have developed as a team and as individual cricketers. I am sure next term will hold great things for the 9Bs. COWAN POINTS 1. Alex Buchen. 37 Runs 2. Matt Haviland. 19 Runs. 1/14 form 2 overs with the ball 3. Harry Parker. 1/4 from 2 overs. 8 with the bat and took a great catch. Quickly becoming the Jonty Rhodes of Cranbrook 4. Noah Harris. 2 overs no wicket for 8 runs. Was unlucky to not pick up a wicket. 5. Jordie Shore. Clean striking at the start of the innings. 8A vs Waverley Hungry for a victory, the 8A s arrived focused, ready to take on a red hot Waverley team. We won the toss and elected to bat and after a steady start, Noah Learmonth went early, which saw the in-form Marcus Roberts hit the crease. Tom Grieg and Marcus Roberts joined forces and created a classy 38 partnership. Marcus enjoyed taking advantage of the small field, hitting six boundaries for a cracking 31. Big hitter, Jude Gibbs came and went with a leading edge going straight into the bowlers hands and we were again looking at a middle order collapse. PJ Foord and Hugo Hayman hit the crease, took advantage of the Waverley bowling attack and formed a good partnership, with Hugo being dismissed in the 24th over for 19. This included a 6 down the leg side! It was then time for Ollie Lamens to shine. Three boundaries in his quick-fire 16, along with a few boundaries from our tail enders, took our final total to 124. Our best batsmen: Marcus Roberts 31 Hugo Hayman 19 Oliver Lamens 16 Defending a low total, our bowling attack had to start well and Noah Learmonth s textbook line and length got himself yet another early breakthrough. The 8A s kept the run rate low and the batsmen on edge - Waverley were 1/16 of 7 overs. Unlucky not to take a bag of wickets last week, Hugo Hayman came on first change and with his very first ball, he bowled a spiraling in-swinger that clean bowled their opener. Hugo showing no mercy, continued to show Waverley who s boss, finishing up with 4/17 off 6 overs. It was some incredible fielding by the energetic Jude Gibbs, taking an absolute screamer of a catch, which provided the team with the spark we needed. Noah Learmonth s second spell proved damaging for the Waverley middle order and Waverley could smell a victory at 7/94. The game was going to come down to the wire. Alex Randall bowled an economical spell and kept the pressure on, sending two batsmen back to

the sheds. The Cranbrook boys dug deep, bowled tight and fielded very well and Waverley needed 7 runs off the last over. Tom Greig kept calm under the pressure of bowling the final over with Tim Sanders taking a great catch behind the stumps to dismiss their last batsmen 5 runs shy of our total. It was a gallant effort by the boys and it was a well deserved win. Great scenes at the close of the game - smiling, singing the school victory song! Our best bowlers: Hugo Hayman 4/17 off 6 overs Noah Learmonth 3/11 off 6 overs Alex Randall 2/19 off 4 overs COWAN POINTS 5 Hugo Hayman 4 - Marcus Roberts 3 Noah Learmonth 2 Oliver Lamens 1 Jude Gibbs (for his classic catch!) 8B vs Waverley Scores: Waverley, 7/199 (D'andretti 2/19, Norman 1/21, Tasker 1/26,) beat Cranbrook, 160 (Nicklin 51, Oliver 28, Yessin 19, Norman 16) by 39 runs. *A special thanks and congratulations to Oliver, Yessin and Walton from the 5As* Having been put in to field with only 8 men, Cranbrook started surprisingly well with few runs conceded in the opening overs. Some accurate bowling from Nicklin and Norman, both of whom ended up with bowling economies just over 3 runs/over and bowled a combined total of 14 overs, coupled with some excellent fielding, placed Cranbrook in a great position after the first 5 overs. However Cranbrook was again unable to break the opening partnership easily and the runs started to pile on. A fatigue seemed to set in in the field and several uncharacteristic misfields soon put Cranbrook on the back foot. This was until one Luca Dandretti stepped up and claimed two key wickets in the first over of his spell to turn the tables in Cranbrook s favour. The final ten overs saw Cranbrook recapture some of the momentum they d lost and left Waverly one run short of 200 runs. With an emphasis on keeping wickets in hand. Nicklin and Norman made the most impressive opening partnership this season, which saw the captain (Nicklin) go on to make a

half-century. Some excellent shot selection in both attack and defense positioned Cranbrook at 4-87 at drinks, a competitive position. The batting master class continued with three imported players from the 5As filling in for the missing players. These three boys, Oliver, Yessin and Walton, scored almost 50 runs between them, and all played outstanding games with the bat. Unfortunately it was not to be and Cranbrook fell 39 runs short with four-and-ahalf overs to play. Overall an outstanding performance and the best so far. I am very much looking forward to the second half of the season where I am confident with a full XI we can procure our first win! COWAN POINTS Nicklin 5, Norman 4, D'andretti 3, Beattie 2, Fine 1, 1st XI all rounder Sam Atkinson (left) is congratulated by team mate Harry Round after reaching his 50 against Trinity.

CAS TWO DAY REPORTS - ROUND 5 vs Waverley 1st XI vs Waverley Last weekend saw the final game of CAS Two day cricket for 2014/15 season. The 1st XI boys were at home to table toppers Waverley and needed a win to get our season moving. Batting all rounder Peter Parras was selected to make his 1st XI debut after a strong showing in the mid week T20 against Trinity. Captain Jack Fagan won the toss on a nice looking Hordern wicket and had no hesitation in batting first. Things didn't start well when we lost opener Martin to a brilliant catch a third slip. Fagan then departed LBW without scoring Siu (12) edged one through to keeper Jordan and we were in a spot of trouble at 3/17. Atkinson and Gall came together to try and reserect the innings. These two steadied us until Sam edged a delivery from seamer Cooper and we were 4/35. Our innings never got going against a strong and confident Waverley attack and we were bundled out for 113. The shining light was a very mature innings of 56 not out from Alex Gall. The tall right hander batted superbly under immense pressure and showed that good footwork and playing straight are the key to scoring runs. I'm expecting big performances from Gally in the future and can't wait to watch his cricket develop over the next 12 months. It was our turn to bowl and we needed early wickets if we were any chance of keeping Waverley under 113. Ed Negus struck early with Waverley opener Plant being caught behind by Martin for 1. That was the end of the fun for Cranbrook as Vass joined his Captain De Silva and these quality players dominated playing shots all around the ground. After passing our score Waverley went in search of quick runs and declared their innings on 8/242. Captain Fagan will get his name on the Honours board after capturing 6/62 with his nicely flights off spinners. He has been one of the form bowlers over the past few games and really deserved his haul. We then took the crease for the second time around and the message was clear, leave the wide ones and play straight. This obviously sunk in as we ended the game on 5/211. Opener Martin played a very classy innings of 51 while Fagan finished a fine all round day by making 98. It was great to see Jack have a day out. As captain of the 1st XI he has done a wonderful job so far and his efforts have been second to none. I was really proud that the boys could finish the term on a positive note. It's very simple, we need to make more runs to give our bowlers and fielding unit something to bowl to. Let's hope the start of the CAS one dayers after Christmas can give us a fresh start and little bit of luck along the way would be helpful. I couldn't be prouder of the efforts of all 1st XI boys so far this summer. We went so close in the first two games against Barker and St Aloysius losing by one wicket. If we can execute at the crucial times in the one dayers then I'm sure we will have a heap of success in the remaining fixtures. Waverley 8/242 dec (J Fagan 6/62) defeated Cranbrook 113 (A Gall 56 not out) and 5/211 (J Fagan 98, F Martin 51, F Stenmark 42)

COWAN POINTS 5- Jack Fagan 4- Alex Gall 3- Fergus Martin 2- Finnbar Stenmark 1- Ed Negus 2nd XI vs Waverley Waverley 178 Defeated Cranbrook 108 Day 1 - Waverley (60) Another unfortunate loss of the toss on a baking afternoon saw Cranbrook begin the grind once again in the field. Although it wasn't the most pleasant of conditions, the Cranbrook men only have themselves to blame for missing a number of chances in the first session. Shortly after the tea break Waverley were well on top at 1-80 on a ground where 4's were almost impossible due to the incredibly thick outfield. Charlie Hayward (3-35) came back for his second spell and got the break throughs we needed. After constant pestering for a bowl, Skipper Rael finally relented and George Stewart was given a good spell to give the pacemen a break. He delivered with two valuable wickets in a very tidy spell of left arm tweakers finishing with 2-16 (9). Waverley gained the advantage on Day 1 with an unbeaten stand of 43 for the 8th wicket entering Day 2 at Day 2 - Waverley 178 Defeated Cranbrook 108 Letha Mthembu clean up the tail this morning chiming in with 3-35 (15). He has been a sensational member of the 2nd XI the last 3 games and was a very popular member of the side. We will miss him in the 2nd half of the season as he returns to South Africa. Chasing 178 on the slow scoring ground was always going to be a challenge for Cranbrook. Waverley's attack was relentless. Easy runs were not available and wickets kept falling regularly until Nick Rael (51) and Tom Hill (22) combined for a 46 run stand. At 3-81 we stood a chance, however it was not to be as we lost the two mainstays of the innings with around an hour of play remaining. Nick Rael's innings was accomplished and mature completing a very nice series of scores in Term 4 for the Keeper Batsman. The last hour was batting for survival and unfortunately Cranbrook lost their final wicket with 10 minutes left to play. It would have been nice to salvage the draw but we were completely outplayed by a very strong Waverley unit and they deserved the 6 points. Waverley 178 L.Mthembu 3-35 (15) C.Hayward 3-35 (13)

G.Stewart 2-16 (9) Cranbrook 108 N.Rael (51) T.Hill (22) COWAN POINTS 5 - N.Rael 4 - L.Mthembu 3 - C.Hayward 2 - G.Stewart 1 - T.Hill 10A vs Waverley Cranbrook 10A 102(Round 68) & 3/81 (Round 50, Crammond 14, Lim 10) Lost on first innings to Waverley 137 (Tait 4/10, Crammond 3/23, Stockley 1/12, Lim 1/26) Day One In the blistering queens park heat Cranbrook won the toss and elected to bat on a short pitch. Starting slow and an early loss of wickets, Round did well to dig in and bat with a number of different partners throughout the innings playing smartly whilst slowing adding to the tally and making a well deserved 68. All out for 102 with half a session to go in the day the boys bowled well to try and grasp an early wicket before stumps. Day Two Defending a small total requires total team effort to stop the flow of runs, build pressure and execute bowling strategies to take wickets. Starting the day with 0/12 Waverley were in a good position. Following good spells from opening bowlers, late in the first session Stockley grabbed a wicket by aiming straight at the big three sticks. This was followed by Lim shortly after. 2 down Cranbrook followed this up taking another two wickets within the second session. Once the first innings total had been surpassed, Cranbrook found a breathe of wind and Tait came in to take 3 wickets in an exciting over then followed by Crammond and Tait working together to clean up the tail.

Trailing by 37 the boys went back in to bat out the day and avoid an outright victory for Waverley. Another great knock by Round for 50 as well as the other batsmen looking after their wicket surpassed this total and saw out the end of the day. Cranbrook had the momentum in the second day, and another 40 runs from the bat and minimising bowling sundries this team may have taken out the first innings spoils. COWAN POINTS 5 H Round 4 N Tait 3 C Crammond 2 O Lim 1 J Stockley 9A vs Waverley For our last game of the year we travelled to Dangar to play our neighbours Waverley. Another hot Friday greeted us and again skipper Elias Green won the toss and elected to bat. Max Gerlach and Alex Buchen got off to a solid start putting on 35 before Max was caught for 12. Johnny Vickers was next in coming off back to back fifties failed to make it three in a row and was out for 1. Elias came in and was out soon after for 5 and we were 3/43. Lachie Swaney came in for his final innings for the school and in his usual style started in a hurry but unfortunately was caught for 31. Alex was joined by Robbie McHugh and the pair put on 45 before Dutchy was out for a well made 47 which included 9 fours with the score on 5/134. Robbie then stood at the other end and watched his team mates come and go and we were all out for 160 leaving Robbie 25 not out. We had to bowl 4 overs but we were unable to take a wicket and the day finished on 0/12. Saturday saw Cranbrook struggle to make any head way into the Waverley top order until Dutchy struck with the score on 104. Waverley continued on their way until a run out on 139 started a massive collapse. They lost 7/18 to be 8/157 but they hung on to win by 2 wickets. Wickets were shared around with Elias taking the honours with 2/4 off 8 overs. Not the result we wanted but a good fightback at the end. Special mention goes to departing all rounder Lachie Swaney. He will be sorely missed by his team mates and coach and we wish him all the best for his future at his new school. Merry Christmas and see you in the New Year. COWAN POINTS 5- Alex Buchen 4- Lachie Swaney 3- Robbie McHugh

2- Elias Green 1- Max Gerlach In form 2nd XI batsman Michael Turner raises his bat in excitement after making his first of two centuries this season against St Aloysius. Michael finished with 147 not out to give his team victory.
