Congratulations goes to Merrylands who are represented in No 1, No 2, No 3, No 4 & No 7 s playoffs and were 2 nd in their section in No 5 s whilst they did not have a side in No 6 s really a terrific effort by this Club. Merrylands will be hot favourites to take home the Pennant flag after dominating the preliminary rounds all season, which saw them lose their 1 st & only match in Round 1 against Carlingford and then power to victory in the remaining 9 round and top the ladder by 19.5 points. Their playoff match against last year s Grade 1 winners, Wenty Leagues, will however be a very tough assignment and should be a high class match if you get a chance to visit Carlingford BC FLAG TIP - MERRYLANDS

Dundas Sports topped Section 1 by 3.5 points over Northmead whilst in Section2, Merrylands topped the ladder comfortably by 8 points over Wenty Leages FLAG TIP - MERRYLANDS In the tightest Grade, both section winners were not decided until the final round but in the end Rydalmere Central prevailed by 0.5 points over Carlingford in Section 1 and in Section 2 Merrylands topped the ladder by 1.5 points over Denistone Sports FLAG TIP RYDALMERE CENTRAL In what was the most clear cut grade, Merrylands topped Section1 by 16.5 points over Wenty Leagues and in Section 2, Toongabbie were 10.5 points top spot over Brush Park FLAG TIP - TOONGABBIE In Section 1, West Pennant Hills secured top spot over Merrylands by 2.5 points, Section 2 was Gladesville over Carlingford by 2.5 points & Section 3 was The Hills comfortably by 9 points over Hunters Hill FLAG TIP WEST PENNANT HILLS

Section 1 saw Castle Hill with a 3 point margin over Wenty Leagues, Section 2 was The Hills with 2.5 points over Toongabbie, Section 3 was Gladesville by 3 points over The Hills and in Section 4, Putney Tennyson by 11 points over North Ryde RSL FLAG TIP CASTLE HILL In another close Grade, Toongabbie grabbed top spot in Section 2 by a very slim 0.5 points over North Epping, with Castle Hill claiming their place by 2 points over Northmead and Merrylands were a comfortable 8 points ahead of Carllingford in their section FLAG TIP MERRYLANDS Full Pennants Results & Draw can be found at Volunteer Award Nominations Now Open Do you know someone who is the absolute salt of the earth in terms of their selfless contribution to the bowling community? Some of these champions are recognised at Club President s Days, for example, but not all. Now is your chance to nominate an unsung volunteer. The 2014 Bowls NSW Volunteer Awards presentation will be held on Thursday 27 November Nominations close 10 October 2014 CLICK HERE for Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria Enquiries to Jennifer Hirama on CLICK HERE for Nomination form executive@rnswba.org.au

The next Zone 10 Championship event will be State Fours with the 1 st Round set down to commence on Saturday 12 th July. The State President Singles, which was deferred from earlier in the year, will also commence 12 th July. This will be followed by the State, Seniors & Presidents Pairs, with entries closing 27 th June and play commencing 26 th July. Draws are available at State Fours Draw President Singles Draw draw.pdf Due to our Zone s Mid Week 5 aside competition starting on 30th July next Brush Park B.C. has changed the date for the next Prawn Pairs to 23rd July. Denistone Sports Club Pairs final was played on Sunday 1st June. Overnight rain had slowed the green to a very nice 14 seconds. Grant Gudmuson and Robert Halverson played Colin Piddick and John Friar. A very close game ensued, the score was 14 all on 17 ends, fantastic bowls were played by all with Colin Piddick and John Friar being the Final Winners for Well done to both teams.

Vic Tagg is the Ryde X Phoenix 2014 major singles champion after defeating John McPherson, in the final. The match was "marked" by Walter Cappelletto, the 2013 winner of the same event. Vic played good consistent bowls while John failed to adjust to the green. Better luck next year Walter, Vic and John Vic has also add another jewel to his crown by skipping his team to victory in the Club fours. The final of that event went down to the wire with Vic scoring 2 shots on the last end to win against Kevin Smith team. The match was great to watch and the quality of play was fantastic. Vic team consisted Graeme Scoot, Barry Richards, Vic Caldwell while Kevin's team consisted of Larry Stansfield,,Lindsay Thompson, Brian Kennedy. On a slightly sad note, our club is losing 2 couples who have contributed so much for both Men's and Ladies clubs. The Men's former president Lindsay Walker and his wife Sue are moving interstate due to work commitments. Lindsay stepped up to run our club during a period of unrest and also during the loss of major players, he was able to make the hard decisions and guided the club to where it is today. Congratulations on a job well done. His better half, Sue arranged the clubs trip to exotic place such as Mudgee and Denman to name a few, Organising these trips were not easy trying to pair up people to share motel rooms etc. Hopefully Lindsay and Sue will return within 2 or 3 years. Lindsay and Sue being presented with gifts from senior vice president Larry Stansfield).

The other couple leaving our club, are Mike and Wendy Culpan, they are moving closer to relatives in the Belmont district. Mike is a director of our main club as well as being our bowling coach and a person always willing to help out even cooking the B-B-Q. Mike will carry on some of his duties of his directorship until the next election of directors. Wendy is the former president of the Ladies club, she also stepped up to fill the position when no one else would volunteer, she has done a great job in the position and introduced many good ideas and suggestions. Wendy and her team have a very good working relationship with the men's club, which will continue under the new president, Janis Vinton. We wish everyone good luck for the future and hope to see you back soon Mike and Wendy with Larry Stansfield Scott Dalton is The Hills Bowling Clubs 2014 Major Singles Champion defeating Sean Love in the Final Photo Scott Dalton with marker and Hills Life Member, Roger Shield

Major Pairs winners at The Hills are Jeff Williams and Danny Phillips defeating Byron Hoad and Warren Heden An exciting contest in which Danny had to convert with his very last bowl to win the title. Congratulations. Photo Jeff Williams (Left) and Danny Phillips Club Championships are going strongly with Club Pairs being decided and won by Don Strickland and Matt Searle 24 defeating Greg Benson and John Sunderland 9 Mick & Don Greg & John

Also big Congratulations to owe own Mark Barton being part of Zone 10 seniors winning Senior Inter zone. Mark Barton With Pennants over and Grade 1 looking to go back to back against the very strong Merrylands club that have been the form side once again all year. All other Grades have improved greatly with all Grades finishing 2 nd other than Grade 5 which went down in last game to finished 3 rd but with a win would have been in finals. Good effort by all bowlers and look out The Magpie Triples was held on June Long weekend with 26 teams taking part with a red hot field on hand for the 2 days, it came down to last games and last bowls for the winners to be crowned. 1 st Neil Burkett, Dennis Harmer, Steve Fogarty 2 nd David Holt, Zelko Trbara, John Stephenson 3 rd Lee Patterson, Gary Patterson, Mark Weete 4 th - Gary Reynolds, Frod, Mario 5 th - Brent Norman, Shannon White, Mick Debono 6 Shane Garvey, Carl Stone, Luke Cocksedge Game Winners for highest margins Game 1 Mick McDonald Game 2 Matt Phillips Game 3 Peter O Connell Game 4 Billy Kachel Game 5 Chris Couchman Game 6 Mick Harry Winners Neil Burkett, Steve Fogarty & Dennis Harmer
