4 # FOLLOW THE STAR I ve always loved Christmas! As a farmer s daughter I remember Christmas Day being very much a working day. My sister and I would have to wait until Dad had finished milking and feeding the animals before we rushed downstairs to see if Father Christmas had been! The anticipation in those moments of waiting - fueling so much excitement in us - we were ready to pop by the time Mum shouted Come on girls.i leave the rest to your imagination. Christmas is a time for children I hear people say but is that the case..? Do you know what happens when a new is star is born? Like people, stars are born, they grow old and they die. Their birth-places are huge cold clouds of gas and dust, known as 'nebulas'. The most famous of these is the Orion nebula, which is just visible with the unaided eye. These clouds start to shrink under their own gravity. As the cloud gets smaller, it breaks into clumps. Each clump eventually becomes so hot and dense that nuclear reactions begin. When the temperature reaches 10 million degrees Celsius, the clump becomes a new star. In the story of the first Christmas we hear about a star, a new star that appeared in the Winter sky. A nuclear reaction enabled intense light and heat to form in a cold, dusty, empty place hmmm? In the story of the first Christmas a very busy community missed a life changing moment as they scurried from one thing to another in the frenzy of daily activities hmmm? In the story of the first Christmas it was a bunch of ordinary men, who worked the land, that heard and witnessed the birth of something and someone who would impact upon the entire world over the course of time not a religious person in sight hmmm? Reflecting on it all I realise it wasn t the presents under the tree that gave my sister and me the excitement to end all excitements. It was the waiting itself and the anticipation of something wonderful about to take place that day within our family home Christmas without the Star and its Story soon fades but the hope, light, unexpectedness, guidance and unconditional love gifted to us all by the arrival of Jesus never cease. Wise men, women and children still seek him so, whoever you are, wherever you are Come, # Follow the Star and be a part of the journey. Yours Veronica. X

6 ST. MICHAEL S COFFEE MORNING We ll be holding a Coffee Morning in aid of the church on Friday, 14 th December in the Civic Centre. It s bound to be a popular time for people to meet (and hopefully spend some money!) so any contributions you can make to the following stalls will be very welcome indeed Tombola prizes, Bric-a-Brac (brought along on the morning please) Cakes, jams, chutneys etc., for the Cake Stall. And of course we d be delighted if you would come along, and bring your friends to support us!diana Thomas is co-ordinating arrangements, so if you are able to donate anything, could you please let her know PARISH COUNCIL At the meeting on 15th November Councillors debated a number of issues. The Clerk had received the resignation of Councillor George Edge. The Chairman had sent condolences, on behalf of the Council, to the family of former Councillor Norman Oakley. Outcomes of Planning Applications were given. It was agreed to offer no comment to the Planning Application for Hurst Hall (18/5263N) and Holly Cottage (18/5093D); grave concern was expressed at the application (185425D) to discharge conditions 1 8 applied to Grange Farm and the application was objected to. A request for a grant for renovating the Play Area equipment had been turned down; there was a suggestion of providing Adult exercise fittings to complement the play equipment. An inspection of the equipment found a low/very low safety risk with the present provision. The Clerk was asked to contact a speaker who would advise about progressing the creation of a Neighbourhood Plan. Highways would be approached regarding relocation of existing signs and provision of more Horse Rider warning signs. A report from the last Police Cluster meeting showed an unusually high number of crime related incidents in the Marbury area. The road by the railway bridge at Wrenbury Road was to be closed for bridge repairs from 1st December to 21st January. Concerns were voiced about safety on the A49 near Bradeley Green to be an agenda item for the next meeting. The schedule of meetings for the coming year had been published.
