1 Thanksgiving Day at Rockwell Springs Rockwell Springs offers a wonderful setting for a Thanksgiving gathering of family and friends and, when you join us, you can concentrate on enjoying their company instead of worrying about the turkey. The fireplace will be burning all day, the parades and football games will be on the televisions, and there is always the opportunity to step outside and wet a line after a fine meal. Even if it s really cold and the fish aren t biting, fishing still beats doing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. This year we will again offer a buffet dinner that will feature the following: turkey noodle & butternut squash soups Waldorf salad, cranberry salad, tossed salad roast turkey, honey glazed ham, slow roasted prime rib with au jus stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, baked sweet potatoes assorted traditional Thanksgiving pies and desserts The price is $30.00 for adults, $15.00 for children ages 6 through 13, with no charge for children 5 years old and under. Seating is by reservation only, with seatings scheduled to begin at 11:30, 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30. The dining room will close for the evening after the last seating has finished. Breakfast on Thanksgiving Day will be served from our regular breakfast menu from 7:30 until 10:00 am, at which point the dining room will close so that the staff can set up for the buffet. There will be sandwiches and snacks available in the Conant Room for those of you who are going to be here all day and have late dinner reservations. Reservations will close on November 18, but, if you would like to reserve a table please call as soon as possible because many tables have already been reserved and calling early greatly improves your chances of getting a reservation for the time you prefer. Please call (419) for your reservations. Low stream flow continues Club staff has been receiving a lot of questions about the low stream flow, mainly what causes it and what can help it. The cause of is due to a lack of precipitation; rain and snow. The Club s aquifer begins around the town of Attic, Ohio approximately 25 miles south of the Club. Our aquifer is filled by rain water and snow melt that runs into sink holes, cracks, and fissures in the ground. Only rain and snow in this area has any affect on the aquifer; until we get a lot of precipitation the flow will remain low. Rainfall can effect the water table and aquifer in two main ways: 1) rainfall is a downpour where it is so intense the water runs along the ground faster than it can soak into it or 2) rainfall is prolonged, saturating the ground, or the point water can not soak into the ground, and runs to the sinkholes and fissures instead. Rainfall in the summer typically does not have an effect on the aquifer because the plants absorb the water so quickly the ground rarely becomes saturated. Late fall, winter, and early spring precipitation has the greatest effect on the aquifer, primarily because plants are dormant. The Club has taken all measures we have available to increase and maintain the water flow, unfortunately there is nothing else we can do. We are at the mercy of Mother Nature and will need a significant amount of precipitation to return to normal flows, so if you know any magic ways to make it rain at the Club let us know.

There are several clothing and tackle items which have been place on sale, and the sale prices are right about the Club s cost. We would like to bring in some of the wonderful new Orvis clothing items and gadets but before we do some of the items we have only a few of need to go. The following deal applies to anything, clothing or tackle marked with Sale signs; If you purchase of any of the last 5 of a sale item you will receive an extra 10% off. If you purchase the last of an item you will receive an extra 20% off. The extra 10% off will bring almost every sale item below our cost and the extra 20% for the last item will definitely bring the items below our cost. You will not find a better deal than this. Several of the items we have on sale are still offered by Orvis so the sale prices and extra discounts only apply to what we have in stock. Some of the items this sale applies to are; Hydros Large Arbor reels, men s and women s open air casting shirts, safe passage large chest pack, trout skin fly boxes, and many more. As the holidays approach don t forget the Club can drop ship any Orvis item directly to you. In addition if the Club does not stock that particular item we give you a 10% discount and cover the shipping.
