Please get them in by the 5 th October as the Presentation night will be the 12 th October The Management Committee wish to hold a forum 16 October 2013 at 6pm at the club for a review of the past season, any thoughts on what did and didn t work for the season any issues regarding anything football, volunteers, coaches, players, spectators, procedures etc. This will be an open forum chaired by President Gary Kernahan and notes will be taken on issues only as the club is aiming to improve things for next year. This is a review only. If members would prefer they can speak or give a written concern/issue to one of the four committee members Anthony Everett (Buck), Anthony Reynolds, Adam Grantham and Peter Trewartha who will bring up at the Review forum. Congratulations to the Under 15s coached by Craig Ritter who took out the Port Augusta Under 15s premiership last week against Central Augusta. The boys played a great game and were put under pressure from the Central outfit to run home winners in the last quarter. Get along and support the under 15s who will play in the Under 15 SGL Premiership Grand Final against Sollies on the 21 st September The Under 18s also won through to the Under 18s Grand Final against with a good win last week against Ports who had only lost 1 game for the year. Get along to support them on Saturday the 21 st September at Port Pirie. Unfortunately the A Grade and B Grade did not make the finals this year although it was great to see all 3 grades finish of the year well with wins against Sollies. The Fairest and Best Count will be held on the Sunday 22 nd September at the club with a 12 noon start. This is an official Vice President and Sponsors function so beers and supper will be provided on the day, please get along if you can. Many thanks to all those that have assisted us with the events in the last month. Red and White Ball : Supported by over 150 people it was another great event organised by the Ladies committee. The sashes were awarded to Kym Maule, Debbie Monger, Jaylon Wingfield and Rachel Everett, well done to all involved and the catering with Trevor White and Shamrocks helping out on the night.

Bulldog Family Fun Day ; The Ladies won the netball of course with the footballers putting in a pathetic performance ably led by Peter Trewartha and Ryan Struck. Well done again to the Ladies committee who will build on this day for next year Premiership Reunion: Around 25 of the players and officials from that year either attended the football match and afterwards at the club where Prickles and Frank commentated on the last quarter of that epic match. Everyone enjoyed themselves late unto the night with some entertainment with Bakes singing together with a performer from Hawker who happened to call into the club. On the other side of the wall was Jessie Maules 21 st, congratulations Jessie. Apologies were received from Shaun McLennan, Fabian Davey, Marty Flanegan, Malcolm Fitzgerald and Captain Byron Matthews. One of the highlights of the day was when Pat Hynes 1993 Premiership coached addressed the current players before the game and gave a stirring speech reminiscent of the talks he gave in the premiership years. Picture of Pat Hynes addressing current players

Football Report With the season over for the A s and B s its important tat the players stay together with the aim of improving on the field in The football committee will be calling for nominations for coaches in the A, B, and under 18s for next season so if you re keen to have a go please put your application into the club by the close off date the week after the SGL Grand Final. Congratulations to Mark Horner who made the SGL team of the year that was recently announced. Some of the A Graders are due or have played their 150 th Club games in recent times including Chris heron, Daniel Dohnt and Adam Grantham, well done to these A Grade premiership players for the club who have worked hard and we hope to see them back next year. Ryan Struck and Brett Pascoe will play 200 Club games if they play on next year and Alan Margatich will play 100 games and receive the pewter mug if he plays in Congratulation to those players who have made their A Grade debuts in the last month including Craig Shirley, Conrad Czypoika, Dylan Barnett, Nathan Paige, Billy Jo Martin. A total of 7 under 18s have played A Grade football this year and have acquitted themselves well. The B Grade just didn t make the finals but the team was always changing with the injuries that have happened in A Grade. Well done to the Under 18s lads have doubled up to play in the A/B grade over the last few weeks which is a great effort. The Under 18s have a good chance in the finals if they can produce the form from the last 2 weeks and with several A Grade players returning it should be very competitive in the next few weeks. Colts Presentation days : 15/9/13- Under 13s and Under 15s, 8/9/13- Under 9 s and Under 11 s. Senior players please get along and encourage the lads on the day as they look up to you. Its goodbye to Lachie Barrett and family who will be leaving the club with a transfer to Maitland. Lachie and family were welcomed into the club and is was great that he played his 50 th game last week before he left. Lachie is the son of B Grade premiership player Don Barrett and left an impression over the 3 years he was around the club being a great player, supporter and sponsor. We wish Lachie, Meredith and family all the best for the future. Just when we thought we have our first copper for a while at the club he has left us!

Lachie Barrett Under 13s report U13 have had a good season and finished the year in second spot. Last week we played Westies in the second semi and lost by 5 goals, Daniel and I took a lot of positives out of the game and hopefully we can beat Centrals Black this weekend to get another crack at them. Congratulations to Will Bolitho who won the U13's Corey medal for the league and Rowan Irvine who won runner up in the goal kicking. U13's presentations are Sunday 15th of September at 12pm. Jake Under 11 s report The U11s started the year with 36 kids which meant two sides, south White (Jubes) and South Red (Kierons). The sides were split evenly with both having a great bunch of kids with some real character. South White started the season well winning four out of five games and having a fun time doing it, ending up with seven wins and six losses to finish fourth. South Red were a little slower off the mark but as the season progressed they were winning most games, the ladder position came down to the last game of the year and although they won the Red side finished an unlucky second. This was a great effort considering both sides fielded three to four U9s every week which both coaches were thankful for. Though I believe the U11s not all about winning, but more about having fun with your mates and learning how to play football, I think the way the lads went about it on Saturday mornings showing skillfull, desperate and sometimes inspiring football was a credit to them and their improvement over the year. Out of the 36 players on this years list there will be about 20 moving on to U13s next year and as coaches I think we have readied these lads for a step up in grades so good luck to them, and those kids left in the U11s have another year to develop their skills and football knowledge and have some fun with their mates. Well done under 11s Jason Waterworth

Volunteers report Catering manager Trevor white indicates that he is desperate to get extra helpers to assist Peter Huxtables Friday night cooking group as he is 3 short at the moment. If you can help out in any way please give Trevor White a call on if you can help out at any stage. Trevor White would like to thank the Shamrocks Netball club for helping out once again for the catering at the recent Ball, Harry and Val for assisting at the funerals and ball and all those who have donated cakes over these functions. At a recent Salvation Army charity functions cakes were donated by Yvonne Grantham, Brenda Clancy, Sue Magarey, Wendy Black, Kelvin Strawbridge, Marg Waterworth, Donna Irvine and Anne Sharpe, many thanks to those and others who have donated. Helpers will be required at the following functions in the future: 30/11/13- Orana Xmas show, waiters required 7/12/13- Knights of Southern Cross show- waiters required 13/12/13- South Xmas dinner- helpers to set up hall Presentation Night On the 12 th October the club will hold the South Augusta Senior presentation Night and 30 year re-union for the 1983 A Grade Premiership with Senior players and officials invited to join us on the night. Also invited that night will be members of the 1953 B Grade Premiership which also won that year 60 years ago. Thanks Jak Waterworth Where are they now- Don Pasculli Don played in the 1981 and 1983 premiership sides after being recruited from Ports in Pirie and Waybacks in Port Lincoln. South Augusta stormed home to win the Premiership by 41 points after a devastating last quarter against Solomontown at last weeks SGL grand final on Central oval. Solomontown led for most of the match until the last quarter before record crowd. An exhausted but happy South Augusta Captain Coach, Dennis Russell was chaired off the ground after his team turned in a stunning last quarter effort to win. South stormed home with a powerful eight goal last quarter holding the Cats to 2 points. South was brilliantly led by Captain-coach Dennis Russell and magnificently supported by Pat Hynes, Chris Pelle, Craig Cock, Maurie Vast and Derek Edmead.

The game was preceded by a colourful build-up with players running through banners, balloons being released and cheer squad girls. Central Augusta took the seconds premiership by defeating South Augusta in an upset. It was Central's second successive seconds premiership, and South's sixth successive grand final appearance. The upset of the final series was in the inaugural thirds grand final when Port defeated hot favourite Risdon by 37-points. ' "', Souths run, back up and superb team-work left the Solomontown defenders non-plussed in the' closing stages of the game. It was a very even contest until that stage. The Cats proved to be worthy grand finalists. They led by 11 points at three quarter time and were 23-points up at the 30 minute mark of the third term. The conditions were very windy with a gusty three to four goal wind blowing to the Hancock Stadium end. Dennis Russell won the toss and kicked with the wind. South began superbly and goals to Craig Cock, Claude Mafrici and Derek Edmead, gave them a 19-point lead at the nine minute mark. Sollies played' excellent football into the wind to lead by two points at the 28-minute mark, but a late goal to Dennis Russell gave South a four point lead at quarter time. David Granger (Sollies) and Derek Edmead (South), were the focal points of their team's attacking moves. They kicked three goals apiece, Granger with' his strong marking and Edmead with his excellent judgement and strong body work. The Cats kicked with the breeze in the second term, and kicked away to a 21-point lead late in the quarter. They dominated the forward area with continued strong work from David Granger. The Cats' defence was also very tight, being led by Brian Taylor at centre' half back and flankers Glenn Johns and Mark Hunt and the Bulldogs were in trouble at the long break as they trailed by 16-points. Soon after Cat rover Mick Thornton, made it 22-points. Despite two goals to Chris Pelle, Sollles maintained their advantage throughout the third term. South peppered the goals in the closing nine minutes of the term 'kicking six consecutive points, before half back Doug Rozee burst through the forward area to goal. South trailed by only 11 points at three quarter time. Sollies scored first in the final term through Jeff Rawlins, to make the margin 12-points. Chris Pelle marked and goaled at the 5 minute mark to reduce the deficit to 6 points, behinds to Cock, Pelle and Hynes reduced the margin to 3 points and then a goal to South captain coach Dennis Russell gave South the lead at the 14 minute mark. It was the first time they had been in front since the 4 minute mark of the second term. Sollies rover Lauren Hellmans kicked the behind at the 17 minute mark to reduce Souths lead to 2 points but it was to be Cats last scoring opportunity for the game.

South Augusta completely dominated the rest of the quarter. Half-back come wingman Mark Bowman kicked an inspirational goal at the 19-minute mark when he received a hand pass from coach Dennis Russell, dodged a tackle from Brian Webb and kicked accurately on the run from an acute angle. Goals to Dennis Russell, Pat Hynes and Derek Edmead (2) in the closing six minutes, gave South a 41 point win. Pat Hynes put in four very consistent constructive quarters of football for the Bulldogs. He picked up a ton of kicks and set up many scoring opportunities. Captain Coach 'Dennis Russell.put on a great exhibition of strong over-head marking. He was a source of great inspiration to his team-mates. Chris Pelle and Craig Cock set up many forward moves with their run, body work and handball. Roger Hooper put in a great game, whether in the centre' or on the ball. Mark Bowman played a great final term and Maurie Vast at centre half back and Ashley Dunkley on the ball in the second half, also played well. Gary Kernahan was able to curb David Grangers influence very effectively in the second half. For Sollies Johns combined very effectlvely across half back and running David Jaggard, Russell Palmer and Laurie Hellmans also played good games. Adelaide umpires Steve Buck and David Watts also performed very well. They picked up the first free kick on most occasions and did not let packs develop with quick and decisive decisions South Augusta [122] Sollies 5.3, [81] Best. players-- South Augusta: Pat Hynes; Dennis.Russell, Chris Pelle Craig Cock, Roger Hooper, Mark Bowman; Maurie Vast, Ashley Dunkley.
